I was recently in the market for a new casual show. Went with some Origo retro sneakers. Kinda similar to the Splay 101s but thought the construction looked nicer
@@mrfrm1975 would you want more videos in this style?? We wanna tweak the camera angle and obviously fix the mic issue, but we thought it was fun to do and have some ideas for more
@@sonsofsever - I honestly don’t have a preference. However, if you continue doing this format, adding close-ups of the shoes while you’re doing the narrative helps. That is, a clear shot of the details of the shoes is helpful while you’re explaining characteristics and details. 👍
@@mrfrm1975 awesome, thanks! Yeah we don't have time to do it too often, so we'll continue reviewing the same way we always have, but every once in a while we wanna do a video like this, and we'll keep all that in mind!
Personally my favorite barefoot shoes are the Inov8 bBarefoot XF and Avancus Power V2.5 High. Jim Green are solid boots for wide toe box rugged boots. They aren't barefoot boots by definition, but really solid overall.
@@Younghoon15 we're fascinated by people's definitions of "barefoot", we're always trying to rework ours, what about Jim Green boots, specifically the barefoot African Ranger and Trooper, make them not barefoot to you?
@@sonsofsever In my opinion, barefoot shoes/boots need to have to have a few things: A wide toe box, flexibility, and zero heel to toe drop. The Barefoot African Rangers and Trooper aren't technically barefoot because they have a nonremovable half sock liner that gives it a heel to toe drop of like 2 or 3 mm. It might be a strict definition, but I think it's fair with how many barefoot shoes/boots there are that fit that description.
@@Younghoon15 so the thing we would say about that, as well as with any other barefoot style shoe with a 2mm drop is that’s pretty unnoticeable for most people. And with a leather sock liner specifically, it will compress over time giving you an even lower drop. There are some people who wouldn’t even notice a 4mm drop which some barefoot brands offer in certain shoes. So that’s why it doesn’t disqualify them for us.
I have several pairs of the BFAR and a pair now of the Troopers. I've not gotten a double lasted barefoot boot from Jim Green because I'm not sure how it will affect overall ground feel etc. What is your opinion of the difference in feel between the single and double lasted barefoot boots? I am also considering the barefoot Stockman but haven't jumped because I'm not sure how well this chelsea boot will stay on my feet. What's your opinion there as well? Thanks guys!
@@davidsimerly3261 the double lasting definitely makes a noticeable difference in how stiff/flexible the boot comes, it breaks in but I don't know if it'll ever be as flexible as a single lasted boot. They feel extra rugged though. I get what you mean about a Chelsea not feeling like it's gonna stay on your foot, but with my Stockman all I had to do was put an insole in there to reduce the overall volume a bit, and now it's perfect, I really love how it feels on my feet and it doesn't feel like it's going to slip off.
@@kateowens45 well this is awkward. This morning I literally dunked them in a creek by a waterfall and…. No water in my shoes 🤷🏻♂️ you’ll see the footage next Saturday 😂
