thank you so much!! i have been a subscriber for quite some and do not comment very often for anyone or anything. i must share with you how much your content has helped me, not only determine the nature of any discomforts i may experience, but how work with them and correct them. i hope ALL of you doing well under the current situation and please accept my appreciation for all that you provide.
This is fantastic! I usually get neck pain and headaches which feel like a build up of pressure in head during exam season at university whilst I'm studying . I've tried doing chin tucks but they never seem to be enough, the only thing which has come close are the band strengthening exercises you showed in a previous video. But this stretch has allowed me to study hard and consistently without discomfort for the first time in 3 years. Can't thank you enough!
What made a difference for me is "tuck your chin". Then later thinking about the different ways one could "put your head on straight", "string to heaven", or move T1..3 back, or.... That led to insights. Most interesting was that on my second side, the stress was in my hip. What do you know! Matt, I remember you having us walk with out arms wrapped over out heads so see if a lower body imbalance persisted - learning to see.
This is helpful! I have stretches and exercises I do every day to correct and maintain proper posture because the forward head posture caused a pinched nerve. This one is going on my rotation, feels good!
That stretched a muscle I have been trying to figure out how to stretch for years now. Thank you so much man. Content is always amazing. Any advice for thoracic mobility, or should I just binge your channel? :P
This! IS! MAGICAL!!! Thank you so much, this stretch feels like it's making a difference! Me and hubby did the stretch together a few times (both are hard core nerds), and it sure looks like we're both a bit straighter now :D
@@Sebbir Still got a slight nerd neck posture unfortunately, never got to make a habit of stretching. But am looking forward to soon being able to go back to my stretch- and strengthening program. :)
you are such a lifesaver. i have had severe hip pain, back and neck pain, and this really helps out a lot. this stretch in particular worked so well for me. Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone
Also helps me to wiggle lower jaw a little to relieve TMJ dysfunction, too. Thanks for stressing the need to be extra gentle with this one. Cannot be overstated since we're venturing into dangerous diy territory here.
thank you! Looking behind when changing lanes on a motorcycle is a basic survival skill called 'the lifesaver'. So by improving this, you could be literally saving lives! Good work and thank you!
I presumed everyone did this for a sore neck. i just discovered this naturally when I was young and got migranes and a sore neck. However, when you are prone to vertigo, this type of stretch can be a bit like russian roulette!
I love your videos they are the BEST! We need fast brief solutions not long drawn rambling and complex exercises. Thank you so much. Immediately made a difference. Just as your hunch back exercises do too. You are a legend
Thank you, especially useful in these times! :) Also I find it very helpful to put my lap top onto a box/some books when I am more watching and reading than writing.
Tested and adding to my routine! I've been doing chin tucks (hands free) as per previous PT in 2007, but it really hasn't seemed effective since 2010, because the tendons were already lengthened as much as they can go. But still persistent periodic pangs hit just when I need to work at my desk. Also have limited range turning my head, which others have noticed - that's from an incident in 2010 when a grocery clerk put 2 half gallons of milk on the same end of my reusable bag, instead of one at each end with sturdy items between them in the center. Then she put that bag on top of the bag carousel with the milk on her side. I didn't know the milk was in that bag until I took it down and the milk shifted and yanked my neck badly. Ended up making a doctor's visit for wry neck, and it's still not healed properly. But your instruction is going to finally fix it, I can tell already. I'll try to check in with an update when it's completed. Thank you, and may God bless you and your family.
Just had a tooth extraction n found myself getting neck pain from using my phone more then im used to during the recovery so i looked up this video hoping to get some relief. I found that this stretch is probably great under normal circumstances but do urself a favor and dont do it with sutures in your jaw. It doesnt feel good.
I have a similar problem but not with a forward head posture from long term posture but actually from push ups. Actually not even pushups but basically any position where my neck is horizontal. I dont let my head drop down, I hold it neutral. And it doesnt bother in position but when I get from it sides of my neck can remain "stiff" for hours. I did a lot of myofascial work on my upper traps near the shoulders - worked wonders, but I feel like there might be trigger points in around the neck and I find the tennis ball technique to be quite clunky or not easily controllable enough to properly help with the neck. Do you have any tips - ideas or anything? :) My posture has gone through the roof, it really improved thanks to you, Jeff Kavaliere, Guerilla Zen etc, but I am still kind of cursed with this and it def. doesnt go away. Oh well, maybe I am just weird haha :D
