Favorite Game Friday Expansion

Arkham Horror LCG is my favorite game and The Innsmouth Conspiracy campaign is awesome. It added puzzly mechanics to each scenario and the player cards are mostly designed the bless/curse mechanic that adds uncertainty to skill tests. Very fun!

Medals expansion to 7 wonders architects is great, easy to plug in and give each player something extra to go for. I never play without it.

My favorite expansion is probably Branch and Claw for Spirit Island. The tokens just do so much for the game, and the event deck adds some much needed variability.

For sure Brood War expansion for Starcraft the Board Game. It is extremely expensive these days, but probably because of how essential it is.

Tuscany expansion for viticulture is essential!

Gotta go with the Carnies expansion for The Bloody Inn. That game is already great, but if you play a ton like I do, it can start to feel a little repetitive, and the Carnies adds just a little bit of spice to the formula with its three modular segments-especially Aunt Ginette's Tips & Tricks, which gives you just a touch of starting asymmetry. But since that's hard to find a copy of, I'll also mention 7 Wonders Duel: Pantheon. The god powers are wonderfully satisfying, and the option of being able to take a turn that doesn't necessarily involve removing a card from the tableau shakes up the turn structure and removes some of the predictability from the game.

My wife and I just had expansion month back in March on our showcase wall and ranked our favorites on our 5 and Dime (my wife’s top 5 and my top 10) on our RU-vid channel. My top 5 (of the 13 I played) were: Everdell Mistwood (for solo play as NIghtweave is a much better AI opponent than Rugwort) Viticulture: Tuscany EE (The extended map being able to do things in all 4 seasons is a nice addition) Roll Player: Monsters & Minions (being able to use your character to fight a monster was a nice addition) Cascadia Landmarks (the habitats are more meaningful and it makes scoring asymmetric) PARKS: Nightfall (The camping mechanism and also being able to get more end of game goal cards) My wife’s top 2 (of the 5 she played): Canvas: Finishing Touches (she doesn’t like to have too much to think about and this adds just enough with the frames) Cascadia: Landmarks (the new scoring cards and making the habitats more meaningful added just enough for her without adding too much)

Out of print: Unbreakable Bonds for Runebound 3rd Edition In print: Red Rains for Ashes Reborn Stand-alone expansion: Mistfall: Heart of the Mists for Mistfall. This expansion is so good, you should get it first, and then use the rules from it to play the original content

Near and Far Amber Mines! That special dice! Option for coop against the Red King! More interesting mines! More animal adventurers! More stories! Magic! And more! Totally agree with Scoundrels of Skullport, 1910, and Cities & Knights.

My favorite expansion is Valhalla for Champions of Midgard. I love that it makes losing units so positive that sometimes you ignore your shields.

Hard to pick just one, but if I had to I might say the Viral expansion. Takes an okay game and makes it really fun. Hard to imagine the game without it.

Viticulture: Tuscany, for wake-up track alone, then you throw structures for a touch of asymmetry. Flash Point Fire Rescue Extreme Danger & Tragic Events Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid Deluxe Box, while pricy, adds alot of replayability by expanding the Monster & Boss roster. Looking forward to trying Fallout: Atomic Bonds (hopefully) soon

Clearly Julian meant "Rise of the Empire" maybe he had Disneyland on the brain!

I am going with Near and Far Amber Mines. I have only played with it in multi-handed solitaire, but it takes the worst part of the base game and makes it more interesting.

Dune: Imperium - Rise of Ix It improved what I thought was already a nearly perfect game. But I haven’t yet tried Uprising…

One Night Ultimate Werewolf - Daybreak

Huge agreement with Roy on the Xia expansion... that one should basically just be an auto-buy when you get the base game. :-) I also so agree on Ticket to Ride 1910. I also think of Power Up for King of Tokyo and Scoundrels of Skullport for Lords of Waterdeep. :-) Also... Unfinished Business for Star Wars: Outer Rim... it basically doubles the amount of cards in the game to give it nice variety if you play it often enough. Pandemic is nice with On the Brink if only for the new role cards that really help spice up the variety in the game. Oh... and Cosmic Incursion for Cosmic Encounter... and sort of any of the Cosmic Encounter expansions that add a new player color. ;-)

An essential expansion which I'd never play the game without it and changes the WHOLE feel of the game is for Wizard Kittens! Keep these my favorite game Friday's coming, love these videos!

This one maybe only applies to my group, but I got every expansion possible for Time's Up: Title Recall, which ends up doubling the amount of cards from the base game. We play that game at the end of every game night, so having those new cards really helped give the game a lot more variety. By the way... I think there is a newer version of Title Recall, so I assume my expansion cards are all OOP now.

Oh... Dixit! The original game is a blast, but let's face it, those cards just aren't enough variety if you play the game often enough. Personally, I buy ALL expansions of Dixit to get a ton of nice variety in the cards. :-) Love the art and love the game.
