In this video, Don shows off the end result of a lot of tinkering on a nice red 1969 Cougar XR-7 convertible. We ended up replacing a lot of parts to get this car "dialed in" and the results speak for themselves.
We wanted to walk around and point out some of the simple but effective improvements and parts that brought this car to the next level. Hopefully, some of these suggestions will be helpful for those of you fixing up your Cougars.

Ha! I'm not sure how Don felt about leaving that in, but it's those kinds of unplanned bloopers that keep things real (and funny). Plus it's a good reminder to make sure those contacts at the ends of the switch don't touch!

I'm back to work, and you know Don, when and if my ticker ever allows me all the way back in the hobby, All stuff will be procured from your company. Excellent parts. I always give you a shout out, for parts, too. You earned it. Your Videos make me want to Get strong again! Then I'm getting the best 71-73 XR7 hardtop, I can afford. Just love them.

Thank you so much for this video! Im trying to restore the exact same year and model cougar, the engine looked different, mine is a 351C but the main restoration is in the interior so this will help tremendously when im able to order parts

When I was in high school my neighbor worked for our local small town Ford dealer. He had a beautiful 1969 XR7 convertible in a candy apple red with white buckets, the mag star wheels, 351 Cleveland with a 4 speed on the floor. He put it up for sale for $2800. I wanted that car so bad but all I could muster up was about $1000. This was in 1980-1981. I ended up buying a 1965 Mustang hardtop in the same red with Pony interior and a 289 4 barrel for $1k. Always wonder what happened to that car?

The '69 Cougar Convertible is my favorite Cougar. Such clean lines and nice front grill and rear lights. Gorgeous car. Next, I like the '67 Cougars. I don't really like the sidemarker lights they had to add on the '68 Cougars and Mustangs.

Delightful! Glad to see a '69 getting some exposure instead of the 67s and 68s like we usually see. My 69 Convertible goes to the shop this week for new inner rockers and floorpan. I trust your undercarriage is in decent shape.
