I met Mathieu"s grandfather, Raymond during a race in France. He was riding back seat in the race director's car. They came up next to me and a window slowly came down. Raymond leaned out and encouraged me on. After the race, the organizer put on a dinner. I was late, the last in. No more seats, except one way in the back. After I sat down, I looked to my right and the gentleman sitting there turned and said hello. It was Raymond! I nearly fell off my chair. He was so nice, an exceptional person and athlete.

It isn’t a short track. They’re doing a lot of kilometers and then some climbs on high speeds. And then, in the final, they give it pretty much all on that final climb. So if those TT’ers didn’t have much left and the one who so convincingly dropped them has much left in the tank, then even if those 3 TT’ers work together very well, they won’t catch him. And the cooperation was much better than we usually see, Strade Bianche this year is a great example of horrible cooperation, but it still wasn’t perfect (a few moments of hesitation can bring the morale and momentum down) But, in the end, MVDP just seemed unstoppable today, so there wasn’t much the others could do

Wva hard out in wind beings p back. -unlike p and wva mvp has had a free ride. He’s lucky: he’s had wva bring p back -best rested mvp now attacks and gets away and wins. X impressive. Also lucky to have wva pull him back -plus wva unsmart or unlucky b c at start of poggio wva out of position. Wva must ride much harder than mvp at bottom of poggio just to get position back, and wva pays for that effort at top of poggio. Mvp v smart and w luck. Wva not smart and unlucky. Pogacar was rhe strongest rider, but mistimed attack b c overconfident, goes too early, and thus unsmart. We got some great racing coming up: only tiny minute differences in power wva mvp pogacar. Eddy Merckx won Milan-San Remo seven times throughout his career, and his attacks came at different points in each of those victories. Here's a brief rundown of where he launched his attacks in each race: 1966: Merckx's first Milan-San Remo victory came in his debut appearance in the race. He attacked on the Poggio climb, the final climb of the race, and managed to hold off his rivals to win in a solo effort. 1967: In his second win, Merckx launched his attack on the Capo Mele climb, which is the second climb of the race. He managed to break away from the peloton with a small group of riders and then outsprinted them to win the race. 1969: Merckx's third victory came after he attacked on the final climb of the race, the Poggio. He managed to break away from a group of riders and then soloed to victory. 1971: In this race, Merckx attacked on the descent of the Poggio, catching his rivals off-guard and quickly building up a gap. He managed to hold off his rivals and win the race in a solo effort. 1972: Merckx's fifth victory came after he attacked on the Cipressa climb, which is the penultimate climb of the race. He managed to break away from the peloton with a small group of riders and then outsprinted them to win. 1975: In this race, Merckx launched his attack on the final climb of the race, the Poggio. He broke away from a group of riders and then outsprinted them to win. 1976: Merckx's final victory in Milan-San Remo came after he attacked on the Poggio climb. He managed to break away from the peloton with a small group of riders and then outsprinted them to win. These victories demonstrate Merckx's incredible talent and versatility as a cyclist, as he was able to win in a variety of race scenarios and with attacks launched from different points on the course.

My question is, how many winners of Le Tour and the Giro have won La Primavera?
@andrasszabo1570

By my count, 11 Tour and 15 Giro winners have won Milano-Sanremo.

WOW so many people are going to be eating their hats today writing off Ganna about being the Ineos team lead, me included! If MVDP wasn't there we'd be having headlines about Ganna outsprinting Wout and Pog!

Think he´ll take a triple the following weeks: Milan-San Remo, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Paris-Roubaix. Especially P-R would be cool if he manage to win, then 3 monuments out of 5 checked. Maybe he change his schedule and rides Liege-B-L too then?
@gcnracing
@gcnracing Год назад
That would certainly be a big target! But he has the talent to win Flanders and Roubaix so why not all three in the same year!?

Looks like Pogacar gambled on a Poggio breakaway but shot his bolt and couldn't recover. PS- Cavendish was riding; will he be in the TdFrance this year? He's currently tied with Merckx on 34 TdF stage wins each, so one more stage win will make him the greatest TdF stage winner of all time.
