My favorite trick on the Es1: You can resample something and adjust the volume knob as you resample. This is another way to fake an envelope. You can also resample with effects applied (you can even record the FX tweaks). Basically any sound tweak you can perform in real time can be resampled as a new sample.
Taking a look at the Korg Electribe ES-1, a cool and grungy sequenced sampler that is fun, and intuative. Experimental, psychedelic and glitch fans - watch this and go grab one :) Please subsribe to our channel if you like our vibes. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Lyxr7ZbyLfI.html
Nice, it seems to have just what I'd expect to use it for which is to take samples and make rhythms out of them, thanks for explaining it's pros and cons
Great video! Here are a few more tips. You can actually record an extra motion sequence for a part if you go into song mode, for example if you recorded a volume change for a part in pattern mode you can record an additional motion sequence say for pitch or pan or filter for the same part, but you have to be in song mode to do this. Another simple tip is that the "fadeout" function can be used as a sort of decay envelope for your samples. This is particularly useful for kicks, snares and hi-hats.
Finally got my hands on a smartcard reader, but now the smartcard that came with the ES1 is giving me an Er.7 error on either Load or Format so I think I need a new smartcard... Either that or I do it the long way and live sample all 100 samples.
faxinadu.blogspot.co.il/2015/03/faxi-nadu-korg-es1-samplebank-pack.html This is a bank and samplepack for the Korg ES1 and ES1mkII samplers. Includes circa 650 samples in 10 banks and you get both the bank files and the individual sample files for use anywhere you please other than on the ES1. All samples are tightly edited and normalized for good punch. The sounds are in 16bit 32000hz as the standard on the electribe requires. Sampling sources include various things from virtual analog and analog hardware synths, to sampling sessions banging various sports gear into each other and the floor in a yoga studio, to police scanners, to sampled porn turned hits and stabs, to dsp fx, to sampled growls with a mic, pots and cans in the kitchen, core kick-snare-hat sounds and more! Operation is very simple! Just copy the *.es1 banks files from the pack's folders onto your SmartMedia card., pop it in the electribe and then load the bank you want into the machine. You don't need to load the individual samples onto the card, just the banks. The individual samples are there if you want to create your own mix-n-match banks from these sounds or use them in another environment. The pack comes as a digital download via Google Drive and is a 42mb zip file. Grab it here: faxinadu.blogspot.co.il/2015/03/faxi-nadu-korg-es1-samplebank-pack.html * Note: the pack contains samples and banks but no patterns!
when I try to sample this way after i click the PLAY button it automatically triggers the STOP button and it only samples like half a second of audio.. would you know if there's any way to fix that?
You can have the "per track delay" with the latest firmware of the mkII (which can be applied to this old es-1 too)! Just sayin'... (try the yahoo electribe group to get the firmware file)
did it, works, ty! it doesn't make it so the dedicated delay is per channel, what it does is change the wha-wha effect from the effects section into a moddelay. great, but maybe worth to mention that the mod-delay does not have bpm sync. awesome though, for sure much more useful to me than the wha! cheers :)
Faxi Nadu Sorry if I did not remember it exactly, I traded my es-1 years ago, but I know I did something with that delay section via the firmware upgrade.. Honestly I've never liked the es-1 myself - the ER1 is cool though.. From that piece I will never part. A true modern classic!
the er1 rocks hard yap :) blows my mind how they didn't include at the very least a decay knob to the sampler, but i still think it is a lot of fun. with some nice packs of sounds it can be pretty crazy. loading and packing stuff from our samplepacks as we speak here :) been on it the last few days, gonna publish later today if i finish :)
Yes the lack of the decay is annoying & a stupid mistake I think as well as the rubbish SM card port, the internal edit limitations, the bloody naming conventions (00-99 what the fuck?!%) and so politely on..
hi i love your videos can you help me pls i have connected my mc307 to er1 as mc sending midi out to midi in of er1 but when i hit play on mc both of them starts playing is there any way i can start stop er1 when ever i want it to and still be synced to mc307
When you adjust the start or end time, does it permanently change the sample regardless of pattern, or does it just affect it for that pattern itself? ive had one of these for years and honestly never conisdered if it is possible it only affects it on the pattern it is adjusted during. That would be a HUGE benefit.
