It is really touching watching an artist being that profoundly inspired by his/her instrument. If I had the money, I'd like to buy me a FAZIOLI. If I had even more money, I would buy that Fazioli for Mr. Niemczuk.

@@gregniemczuk Sadly, you are perfectly right. It's paradoxical that the artists, who only are able to play these instruments properly, cannot afford them ... It should not be like that. Best regards and kindest wishes to you from Switzerland. Thank you for your enthusiasm shared here. I can feel your craving for the eternal sound.

@@oneirdaathnaram1376This is exactly what has been bothering me for decades. Knowing lots of fairly rich people myself, I see them buy expensive grands for furniture purposes and for showing of in their office buildings without being able to play one single note themselves. So to all those who have these (tens of) millions: choose a favorite musician and donate him or her the instrument they've always dreamt of. Not only talk the talk but also walk the walk, gather some friends and donate this absolutely beautiful and passionate musician a Fazioli

Greg, I have been searching for a machine like that for 40 years. Bring you to tears... yes... when you have the right piano it is the love of your life. I like the lady who said something like "The piano is something you have an affair with". How true was that. You made this film 2 years ago. That is at least 720 days you could share with that instrument. Brotherly love from Australia...

The first time I hear a Fazioli piano. You really have explained very well the feelings of yourself on this piano. It is also how you play. But thank you for showing again the differences in colours and painting of the music. Yes, I hear the one note played differently. I love your expression "to paint with the sound". I had the pleasure to try 2 different Fazioli in a NY music store and I found an unbelievable sustain on the sounds, that could last forever.. for me was an amazing palette of colours available on the keyboard, and I really loved the medium/bass range timber. It was nice to hear your opinion about, which I found very similar to what I felt, instead some videos comparison based on scales without any feeling on RU-vid

While at Piedmont piano co. I had the chance to sit down at each of these including the Fazioli. That was a few years ago. But each left an impression on me, including thee Fazioli which just recently was the only concert grand left in the shop. Right away I notice the Bosendorfer sound is right on top of the harp and in front of you, the others all seemed somewhere in between, slightly above or below thee harp. I did notice on the Fazioli a bit more of a unique dampening from sustained to dampened or Sostenuto that caught my interest, though the sound is a little bit trapped below the harp, and obviously there is a difference between old and new piano hammers not yet well worn. I purchased the CLP-785 which has all three of these piano samplings. after renting the NU1, and the action or touch is quite remarkable, but there is still nothing like feeling actual strings or dampening through the keys.

"I almost have tears in my eyes when I touch this piano ...

Even as a virtual instrument (in this case, the VI Labs True Keys Italian, modelled after the F308), Faziolis are just a different thing on their own. I trust my serious playing on this sound. And I get your explanation on the touch being able to paint different colours. Funny thing that such a large piano - the largest, even - can make the smallest sounds. In his interview with James Pavel Shawcross (this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2qCdzT69XsY.html), Paolo Fazioli said it once that his pianos derive their sound from the Italian language - specifically the tradition of belcanto singing in Italian opera (he says "clear, elegant, long sustain, big dynamic range, remember (sic) the Italian language").

You can hear the difference, very expressive and singing. Curious as to the feel of the action. Is it lighter than Steinway, more like Yamaha? Yamaha is easier to play but at the same time harder to control. But the sound is like a metal barrel, not good on the cheaper models. On a more practical level (not in the $$$$$$$ range), I was at a piano recital recently where a grand (a few inches shorter than a concert model) was the instrument and the award winning pianist's talents were not shining through - almost certain the same instrument (it was the same venue) was played by an equally talented pianist 12 or so months ago, and the piano sounded a lot better - the make of piano I won't reveal - perhaps the piano has not been maintained/regulated properly in recent months - anyway, never take for granted a good sounding piano in a public recital - most of the time, everything comes right and the many dedicated tuners/technicians must take credit for that - I can say the piano concerned was not a Fazioli - not to maintain a Fazioli properly would be borderline criminal !
