This is why you'll see a politician do things that make no sense to the voters. The more the corporate legacy media and establishment defends an individual, the more corrupt the individual is. The opposite is also a good indicator. The less corrupt (controllable) an individual is, the more they're attacked by the media and the establishment.

But Oakland was never on it’s feet, before her and after her! Politicians from the city level to the state level, even at the highest level, are like onions, if you peeled enough layers, you will find all kinds of corruptions, from money laundering, bribery, to sex scandals.

The "old guard" of the African-Americans will never allow anyone but one of their own to be mayor. And they want complete, iron-clad control of the city council as well.
