Looking good. That second to last pass hooked the tire nicely - if you could get a little more clutch slip with that and keep it out of the bog you'll really have something. I'm not sure how much the soft spring is helping, it seems like with it so soft it's more likely to hit the tire hard and unload like it did in the third to last and last pass. If you have more shock stiffness you can add that might be the next move, slow that travel down, along with the clutch release and it might stay stuck, and stay out of the bog. Stick cars are definitely a lot of work to get rolling - seat time and you'll get that down another tenth in the 60' and have it running mid 10s!

Hey thanks man! I was cruising through the Gen5 forums yesterday and came across your vid on launching. Will definitely be trying your techniques and suggestions. 👊👊

@@smokingasphalt8050 it's worth a shot. The 4th gen is nice because it's a bunch lighter, and also a lot more tolerant of a clutch dump (from a breakage perspective). The preload is helpful still because it really helps you be right on the edge of that friction zone - so you can be more consistent and deliberate with some slip. The comment someone else made is the bottom line - any time the travel is coming out of the front end, you're loosing traction. If you pop it up too fast, it's almost certainly going to be unsustainable to keep it planted that high, and the tendency is going to be for it to unload. If you can slow the release down a little, that hangs it up there till you've got the clutch fully coupled, and the motor in the powerband! In a bias ply car that needs relies on wheelspeed for the launch a clutch dump could work really well because it's consistent, but a radial wants to stay hooked up and so the slip is essentially crucial for best results. At any rate, you're still getting to the finish quicker than I am - so you're doing something right!

@@andrewcammer2535 I agree, after it hooked and lifted the tires off of the ground, I tightened up my front shocks. My last pass, the front came up and stayed there. Recording and watching each run at the track really helps.

@@smokingasphalt8050 absolutely gotta have video - in car and out preferably. You learn so much that way! I love to be a student of the game with stick car drag racing. Lots to learn for sure.
