NO IT IS NOT! The ball is in the hands of the FDA, and only the FDA. They can destroy any company, any individual, or an entire industry without any reason whatsoever. Unelected bureaucrats can completely snuff out an entire industry, without any real input from elected officials, or the people these bureaucrats ruthlessly govern. They may have a comment period where people affected by the regulation can yell at clouds, but this does all of NOTHING, please, be honest. If we persist under memories of when we had a free and functioning nation, we'll never be able to address just how bad things have become.

I've written all my MO lawmakers. I'm also very hopeful the lawsuits put an end to at least some of this madness.
Phil, thanks so much for taking time to make this video. I have around 250 pipes in my collection, and I always have around 3 cobs in my regular rotation and around 3 dozen cobs total in my collection. I am glad to hear you use the word "tradition," several times during this vid. The Missouri Meerschaum cob is uniquely American, and it would be such a shame to see production cease. We are lucky to have you at the helm, moving the company onward through the fog.

Phil, As said in many other comments to your video, thank you for your determination to continue producing the world famous MM's in spite of federal bullying! I am older than I look or feel and have re-started to enjoy pipe smoking just last year not only for the pleasure it affords me but for the comraderie and social contact with folks of similar feelings. Born and raised in Missouri, now "dis-placed in Texas", I am a Missouri native (miss by home there) and Meerschaum pipe owner, smoker and most certainly enjoy your tobacco blends among a few others oldie goldies. Thanks Phil for your fine video. One small point. In the FDA compliance guide, they state that they will interpret "as of the deeming date" to be "on the deeming date" . A manufacturer requesting a product to be "grandfathered" needs to document that the item was for "for sale and/or distributed ON Feb. 15, 2007". They also give examples of the documentation to be supplied. This is a big difference and may be an arbitrary definition. You may want to explore this a bit. Great Video. That's true: ... If your tobacco product had been commercially marketed in the United States before February 15, 2007, but was not commercially marketed on that date, it is not a grandfathered product... That means goodbye to the Mark Twains
Let's hope the law suits succeed and let's learn to always vote for less government! If these regs stick, don't believe for an instant they'll stop here. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile. Think about what they have done with gun laws.

Not sure if opening in EU would help, regulations here especially concerning "public health" (universal healthcare everybody) is pretty strict, if you open a tobacco store you can't even sell your house blends or bulk tobacco without jumping through hoops getting the proper revenue stamps, the proper EU approved packaging and on top of that you can't market it in pretty much anyway because its tobacco product.

I like your wording. They, the higher up folk, have no idea. They have read things, but they have no eyes. It's the Hunka Lowanpi. It's a feast of making of relations. It, the ceremony, should have a pipe. And there should be tobacco. The friendship of the participants becomes mixed with the smoke, and begins to travel over the universe. At that point, the sharing of the pipe, the persons are related. So, it is a real family.

I'm in the UK so not effected but I sympathise with your plight in the USA. These new regs seem completely over the top, and as you say they're unlikely to have any impact on the issue they claim to be addressing, namely kids smoking. It would especially be a travesty if MM were to be effected. I may be British but I don't just see it as a pipe I see it as a bit of American history. Only had a couple of Mizzou's before but have just taken delivery of a new Country Gentleman and I love it already. We may have to pay a bit more over here but the quality still outweighs the price for me. There's nothing else can compare with it for the price, and of course the heritage too. Good luck and hope you can get your Government to see sense.
Vote for Libertarians in your local elections folks. Dems and Republicans both love big government. If you're sick of an over-regulated country, then vote for those who want smaller government. The FDA is ridiculous.

The pipes behind me are the Pony Express/Mizzou on the left and the Legend on the right. The kitty's name is Cobb, of course! He was vocal since he feels the same about the FDA as we do!
Is there any news on this as of 7/19/17? I know a lot of people in the vaping industry/community are HIGHLY concerned with these regulations and I was hoping with Republicans in power now it would change. I bought my first Corncob pipe yesterday, liked it so much I ordered more from your website, just a few hours ago! (Yeah, I vape and smoke, oh well) #RegulationNation

I'm argentinian and It's really dificult to get ir buy yours pipes. Chinesse copys are more than easy to buy....but i preffer to wait to get my original corn Pipe. Good woork
At this point, the regulations have caused us stress more than anything! We were required to register with the FDA as a "tobacco product" manufacturer and submit a list of our products along with samples of advertising. We were exempted from having to submit some of the information that actual pipe tobacco companies have had to submit.

The regulations we're talking about here are Democrat (Obama) regulations. If you smoke a pipe, or care at all about your personal freedoms, you have no choice but to vote Republican. I know, not the complete solution, but a step in the right direction.
