The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is seeking to suspend Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony’s law enforcement certification, saying he broke the public’s trust.
I'll tell you, nothing because they appointed a black man as sheriff and are afraid if they do anything, they will lose the black vote. This guy should have never been appointed sheriff; he was only a sergeant for a couple of years, completely unqualified for this position. There were plenty of black executive officers at BSO to choose from if they wanted to appoint a black sheriff.
It's a matter of trust. A suspended license from 30 years ago would have been no big deal if he had told the truth but he lied about it. That matters. He cannot be trusted if he lied about that. Moral turpitude matters when it comes to law enforcement officers, judges and attorneys.
Remove his license to be an officer because he failed to disclose a drivers license was suspended in the 90’s? There’s hundreds of stories of cops murdering innocent people and copious amounts of other nefarious activity and no such recommendation has ever come forward. They have always investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing.
All I’m saying is; cops do INFINITELY more devious things every single day in this country some even caught on camera. I’d love to see this same energy.
A driver license suspension, unless for something serious like homicide or harm, is not much at all. Passing a check with insufficient funds is nothing.
Not until his term is up. Once elected, they can't stop him from being Sheriff, he just won't have any arrest powers if they revoke his law enforcement certification.

When I was in my twenties I did so many stupid things and I for certain had my driver's license suspended, and I worked law enforcement matter fact they told me to straighten that up before I got the job and I did!!

Well, seems like there’s a lot of problems in Broward County with the sheriffs department. We had the Coward of Broward driving the super car around making big waves in news during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting. I’m just curious has sheriff Israel been hanging around anywhere being useful? Doubtful.
In Florida if you leave town for work or on vacation, your car left behind in a garage, and the insurance lapses on a car you aren't driving, and , you don't turn in the tag, guess what, your license is suspended and if driving a rental car elsewhere? At least they don't issue a hit on you ----- YET! Sometimes no common sense is allowed by bureaucrats.

Thats true, he doesnt have to have arrest powers in order to be sheriff. I knew a Sheriff that was killed in the line of duty and his wife finished out his term as Sheriff. She did not have law enforcement certification, so she couldnt arrest anyone, but she could legally serve her husbands term.
It was self defense. The gun man chased tony. Tony ran into his home too grab his father's gun. The gun man went inside of his house. He was arm at that time. Tony justify gun down the gun man.
Don't place in for high ranking jobs unless you come correct with everything. Because someone is always looking to find dirt on you that you didn't report at first.
The reason why he brought up race was not because he wanted to use it as an excuse for anything, but rather to explain why he was busy meeting people and taking pictures. People were excited to have a black sheriff in Broward County!
@@patmcbride9853 it’s not true. It might get suspended if you forgot to post bond for a hearing or you didn’t pay the fine. The letter does not always arrive. That not the point. The point is what if you don’t recall when your license had been suspended.
@@igorge OK, put on your "critical thinking" cap and recall that "I remember every time I've been pulled over". I didn't think I would also have to state that I remember every time I paid a fine (in person so I had evidence) or went to court. Before you try to generalize this to the rest of the population, I was specifically talking about ME. The "point" is that I am amazed that other people can let things like this slip through the cracks.

As a former cop when during the process per academy, that should've been address right then and there let alone years down the road so yeah its a witch Hunt !
Damn 30 years ago like really . I don’t think it’s a time to suspend his certification for something so petty and he has done a remarkable job with BSO in the 6 years he has been there. He believes in his command staff the he promoted through the ranks from within rather than bringing his friends in to fill these high positions in the Sheriff’s Office. I think this is something that should be dismissed cause I have seen sheriff’s before him do a lot worse and nothing happened !
This video gives bits and pieces, but not the whole puzzle. That can lead people to believe it's because of race, politics, etcetera when that's just not the case. This is a case of falsifying government documents from 2002 - 2019. To answer no one time might be a mistake, but to answer no for 17 straight years is a deliberate act. The Sheriff is an elected position which is the highest law enforcement officer in the county. If he/she shows lack of moral character, how can they hold their subordinates accountable. The FDLE is requesting a 6 month suspension of his certification (he would remain Sheriff, just have no arrest powers), complete ethics training and serve a year of POST probation. Those chose not to criminally prosecute him.
The sheriff was forced to resign or be fired by Coral Springs Police Department for lying on his police application about an arrest in Tallahassee for passing a bad check. The bigger question is why did Rick Scott and desantis appoint this guy without looking in to why he was let go from Coral Springs, especially since greg tony's former boss was there at the announcement.
The sad thing is people are sticking up for him when he lied, he knew he lied, and wants to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal. What else is he lying about. Of course he brings up he was the first black sheriff. Doesn't matter. Don't lie on applications. I'm for suspended his cert since he knew his dl was suspended in the past yet answered NO.

He killed another teen in north Philly when he was a teenager. How’s a kid get a gun and be able to make the decision to take someone else’s life especially at that age? Now he’s holding the gun in your neighborhood. The entire county should keep that in their frontal lobes. Listen to testimony from those who were present when it happened.

Really, license suspension, from the 90's. Did his license suspension in any way, harm the public or cause deaths. Otherwise it's persecution. Sad , higher standards - Really. He didn't kill or beat his wife and children, Fix tickets for friends for kickbacks WTF
