HERE YOU WILL SEE THE FDNY BATTLING A FEROCIOUS FAST MOVING 4TH ALARM FIRE IN A MULTIPLE DWELLING ON WEST 115TH STREET IN THE MORNINGSIDE AREA OF MANHATTAN IN NEW YORK CITY.
Nice to see the quick hit from the outside. Not common from FDNY. Hopefully they start using this tactic more often. If done properly it doesn't "push" smoke or fire. What it does do, is drastically cool that room and surrounding areas.
I read that there were 5 major fires in one day in less than 5 hours in NY in which 58 firefighters were hurt due to cold temperatures, and injuries, 2 were seriously burned. Thank you TheMagestirium1 for all you do covering these fires!
My mornings are spent drinking coffee and watching your videos. Dude you are doing a fantastic job. Early in my days as a BC, I had one local reporter from a tv station to show up on all of my working fires. I assigned a firefighter to stay with him and allowed him to film as he wanted. He would always provide us with a copy. The investigator loved it. If needed he would also stay on the scene with the investigator and film the interior.
I'm a little surprised how fast this fire spread. I grew up up the hill from there, and these buildings were rundown and fire ravished for decades, now they have been totally redone with new everything. Steel reinforcement, plaster walls replaced with sheetrock, wiring, plumbing, etc.. Great attack from the FDNY as always. Many thanks to you JJ for getting out there in the freezing cold to film this.
Wooo I hope know one was injured or seriously hurt what a fantastic job The FDNY did stop it from spreading . May god protect FDNY . As always stay safe and watching from the uk 🇬🇧
@Dawn Seidl Godsey greeting from across the pond! Know any good sites, YT channels to view the LFB? BTW, we have your prince 🤴 and his wife 😈 if you want them back. Lol.
I have seen many fire videos from all over the country. Retired Paramedic and short time volunteer fireman. Any training I can get my eyes on finds it’s way to my computer. I am disabled now because of severe back trouble. All that being said I am struck by the difficulty encountered by the FDNY working in these multi unit buildings. Most were built without much protection from fire. You men and women are brave and professional and a bit crazy. Be safe and get home after your shift. Thanks.
DEAR GOD BLESS 🙏 THE FIREFIGHTERS 🚒 🙏 ❤ THAT PUT THIS OUT BLESS MY NEPHEW THAT MADE SURE THAT MY SISTER IN LAW AND 2 BROTHER'S IN LAWS WERE OUT HE STOOD UP LIKE A CHAMPION WHAT A AWESOME YOUNG MAN HE IS OUR FAMILY 👪 💙 👏 HAS BEEN THRU SO MUCH IN THESE LAST FEW YEARS BUT WERE HOLDING ON TO GODS UNCHANGING HAND AMEN 🙏 💙
Great video. While we all hate to see these fires your videos give us a close look as the firefighters battle heavy fire conditions. God bless the FDNY.🇺🇸🐢🐄🚒🚑
I only recently came across these videos from FDNY. These men/women deserve all of the accolades they are given. God Bless all of you and keep you safe.
I watched another video of this fire and it took a long time to get lines in , I realize members have to search for victims but there simply wasn’t enough help during the first 10-15 minutes , the fire went up three floors instantly , great coverage John
Yes, there are some people in city hall who took notice to this and some of the other fires that FDNY had as of late and they are now proposing bringing back the 5th firefighter on engine companies.
@@jjcalnan Professional firefighters attack a fire from the interior of the building and push it out. Fighting a fire from outside only causes the fire to spread further throughout the building interior.
Great response JJ! You were on this quick. Also the footage is great as always. I didnt hear on the radio traffic on your video or even you mentioning the 3rd let alone 4th alarm. This looks more like a 3rd.
Beautiful old building, such a shame.. I am glad the crew was operating in sunlight, in spite of the cold. You are a trooper and catch the best action.
There are builders around only for the repair of fire & water damage. What puts firefighters even more under stress however is that they always have to account for persons trapped inside.
John Great Job On Your Video You Are Always On Scene And You Stay To The End You Don't Give Up You Kept On Going And I Thank You For That John Keep Up The Good Work Man!
Looks like the fire got into the walls with wooden lath boards, which were quite dry as over 100 years old. And the stone walls contained the heat on the inside (although made spreading to the exposure much less likely).
Hi John super great video --- wear your gloves --- they got that building under control quickly considering the very heavy fire coming out the 2nd floor window when you arrived --- Debbie
Yeah, BE SAFE, but...it’s a matter of luck for too many of these FFs taking chances by not wearing the appropriate ppe. An exemple at 13:00; Windows are being broken on the 3rd fl while FFs are just under without any eye protection!!! And you may find several other such exemples in that vid. Firefighting sure is a dangerous job, what puzzles me is the number of avoidable accidents. Ask anybody who was hit with a work related injury: What if you had the possibility to wind back the clock, would you wear this ppe??? I have the highest respect for FFs and wish all of them to retire without injury, but they sometimes play russian roulette...!
Wow J. a lot of big and bad fires in just the first month of the year but you can always expect that at any given time in NYC. btw retired 20 years with philly fire Stay Safe Bro..
Hi John. It is good that there are able to get in the alley way. I hate to see what would happen it where was not a Alley way. Hope there was no one in the building. Stay safe john.
Smoke Signals As fire burns it requires fuel, heat, and oxygen. Perfect ratio of these and you see very little smoke. If the fire has plenty of fuel, with lots of heat, but insufficient supply of oxygen, the smoke is more dark and heavy grey. This smoke is created by the breaking down of flammable materials, but it lacks oxygen to have flame. It is this scenario that causes a Backdraft. When oxygen rushes in to that environment with heat and flammable smoke it explodes because the smoke itself is highly flammable. (It usually puffs in and out like the building was breathing.) This fuel smoke also can burst into flames as it escapes the building and hits the oxygen rich atmosphere. Black smoke is generally chemicals plastics paint grease oil etc. Wood, paper, cardboard etc generally produces a white or light gray smoke. The white smoke that dissipates quickly, is actually steam... you’ll see it as the firefighters remove the heat and the fire begins to die
Great coverage as always my brother. As always FDNY heavily engaged to do what they do like no other protection of life and property through AGGRESSIVE INTERIOR ATTACK no matter the odds.
I love your channel and love the FDNY. But as a paid firefighter, i just can't understand these guys doing overhaul without being on air. We know how bad that crap is to breath, why do it...... Strong Work as always FDNY!
I don’t understand fire talk. “ without being on air” you mean not wearing a oxygen mask? I watched th FDNY video from the apartment building h where 19 people died and the firefighters were standing in the window in a huge plume of smoke no masks. Which means they were breathing in all that toxic smoke. I couldn’t believe it. I have such a respect for firemen. I would hate for any of them to have breathing issue or lung cancer. It should be mandatory to wear a mask.
@@tamlynn786 Yeah, that particular case they were making a rescue, I can live with that, they were doing what needed to be done. But doing overhaul, after the fire is under control, breathing the off gassing crap for no real reason is what bugs me. Oh, and its not oxygen lol, it just air! Wouldn't want to go into a fire with a tank of 02 on your back ;)
@@RedEyedJack the part I’m talking about it in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6mCHXBEY42g.html at the 11: 32 mark …. I think they were past the rescue part and were standing in the window. Neither one had on a mask. I’m not trying to criticize it’s more out of concern. Lord knows they do so much and put themselves at risk so hats off to them.
I wish I could be a New York City firefighter but I’m in upstate unfortunately an I’m to to old now to even think about it I’m 31 with no college but anyway you get it lol I love your videos brother
When I was a kid the firetruck would show up and slowly find a hydrant and then start going forward as the hoses they packed let out. Within minutes the three man crew had water flowing, a valve cut off valve so the next hose could be connected and they installed a Y for a second one. Meanwhile another truck would be doing the same thing at the next hydrant.
It's sad to see an older building like that go up and flames. The older buildings have so much detail look at the detail at the top of the windows they don't make buildings like that anymore
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 You are very welcome In November my friend in Lexington houses 1539 Lexington where i used to live died in a fire in his apt on the 10th floor he fell asleep smoking in bed.
