Richard They may have had the room, but that was not their staging area. There are different kinds of trucks. Rescue One goes in with just equipment they can carry so they will park further back. An engine company comes in with hose so they will park closer to the front. Ladder trucks will do the same.

Well, this driver seemed to be trying to move off the road. He was pulled to the right side of the road and stopped. Then when the truck started honking, he tried to pull into a parking space (further off the road). I can’t see why the truck didn’t just park behind the car and let everyone out 30 seconds sooner.

Could you fill me in on what happened? Is everyone going to be alright? Firefighters (and cops) go out there every day to put their lived up for people they have never met, and will likely never thank them. In the case of the police, they get hate. No one angers me on the road more than those who make their jobs even more stressful and/or less safe. People, start acting like you were raised right.

One of my brothers is a firefighter in a small town of about 40,000. It's rare where he lives but whenever they are on a call and a car is blocking the fire hydrant the crew chief (?) on site will call for the hoses to be hooked up. Even on a false alarm. That is because the fire chief is anal about people blocking fire hydrants and the FF crew loves breaking the windows out. My brother told me that one time they had a fire during the winter during arctic cold like temperature. Sure as sh*t a SUV was blocking the hydrant. (No snow. Everything was cleared.) In addition to breaking the windows to run hoses they also kept hosing down the SUV inside and out. Officially it was because the old wooden apartment house was throwing off a lot of burning embers. The fire chief didn't want to risk the SUV catching fire. The drunk SUV owner finally showed up and caused such a scene that the police handcuffed and arrested him. When they were finished the police towed $$$$ away the frozen SUV and issued a ticket to the SUV owner for parking like an asshole. (I think the legal term is parking like a brainless f*ckhead.) -- I don't know if the SUV owner needed a report for the insurance company. But if he did then I'm sure that the police and fire department would write up a report about how he was breaking the law when the unavoidable damage happened.

If cops happened to see you in the act, yes they can give you the ticket. However they can't do it after the fact as they need to know who was actually driving the vehicle.
