HERE YOU WILL SEE THE FDNY BATTLING A STUBBORN 4TH ALARM FIRE IN A COMMERCIAL CATERING HALL ON UTRECHT AVENUE IN THE BOROUGH PARK AREA OF BROOKLYN IN NEW YORK CITY.
I wonder what got into the Hasidism regarding this fire? I have not seen that behavior before. Would they prefer the FDNY to stay out of the neighborhood and allow it to burn down?! Seems, in this country, everyone has a chip on their shoulders and major anger issues…sad!! I am glad you maneuvered around the equipment and members without taking a tumble. Great skill by Truck 114 in snaking between the elevated structure and the line coming from the light pole. Part of the problem in fighting this fire is that probably a lot of unauthorized modifications were made to the structure.
Thanks for a great video JJ and a trip down memory lane. The center of my universe growing up was the nexus of 18th Ave/86th ST/New Utrecht Ave. Rode the BMT to the City on the elevated line you showed. Difficult fire to fight due to the age and complexity of alterations to create a wedding/bar mitzvah palace in Boro Park. Perhaps a lot of memoies for the neighbors in the crowd. I was looking for some of my former FDNY units, Engine 243 and Ladder 168.

What a very odd scene there!!! Don't think I've ever seen behavior like that in any other video you've posted since I started following you. Most of the time people just walk around whatever incident is happening and barely notice in true New York fashion. Wonder if those people were in the place when the fire started and wanted to see what happened or if it's a neighborhood thing. Anyway nice job getting inside the tape and getting some good footage. That was my thought, as well. The shot from above almost makes it look like the large group was in the building for an event when the fire broke out. (Never mind...I just read an article that said there was no one in the building when the fire broke out which gave it time to build. That was just a lot of curious onlookers.)

So much better with drones than having to put a chief in a nypd helo like back in the old days. Drones dont fan the flames like the helo s used to. The hassidam are unique people to say the least. Thanks for great coverage. You are the best at it.
You see them by the thousands 😂😂 correct I’ve never seen activity like that at a fire before unless it was a whole apartment building being evacuated. Good catch

I notice on both yours and Skylers videos you seem to have a little choreography going...you go north, Skyler goes south, you east he's west etc. Kinda cool. I suspect that they live in the same building. When at home, JJ films toward the main street, but recently he also filmed from the same floor but toward a side street.

I recall a time when the Hasidem only went after each other in their “Torah Tank” battles. And did not bother outsiders like the police. I wonder what set them off? Anyhow great video of the fire.
John, Great work as usual!! You are definitely going to have to investigate a small helicopter or something to beat the traffic. As an aside (for future reference) the satellite supply hose is 6 inches in diameter, not 5 inches. Each length is 100 feet and the couplings are sexless. Keep the faith and keep the video rolling.

Hoopla might have been because of the EMS being in their community when they have their own private service, someone stepping on their toes, I don't blame you from staying out of the way.
This is the most men in black suits and hats that I have ever seen at a fire. Is this fire in their community? Im sorry but I dont live there and dont know who they actually are. My apologies.
They seemed to spend a lot of time sawing on the ornamental fake windows pasted to the roof. And I wonder why so many unruly Hasidim were milling around. I expect more decorum from onlookers.
