@@lintecassidy206 yea i went on a crit build for my edel in FE3H............. didnt complete it yet but it was quite a nasty build for a melee axe setup (note i didnt even use her special weapon for the build either, just a killer axe)
As someone who isn't a huge FE fan, the weapon triangle is one of the reasons why. I don't like when characters get one shot, it's realistic, but it's not fun gameplay, so I'm glad that isn't a defining factor of 3H, I honestly would not have touched it if it had been.
@@Kanriel They don't one shot, and it's less apparent in previous titles compared to Heroes, if that's the only game with the weapon triangle. All that it does is make the breaker skills you see in 3H a passive that everyone has automatically. I personally think it is much more challenging and requires flexible strategies/taking risks to work around, which I personally think is the main reason why I play FE in the first place. fyi, I do like the new direction FE is going towards to accommodate new players, though I do believe there are certain things from old titles that can be applied in the new FE titles. Three houses does make an intetesting dynamic though, Seeing as you have to plan around using the breaker skills and avoiding or exploiting it.
@@ylissotato I'm not sorry to see the weapon triangle nearly gone. It was the most uninteresting way to try and create some balance, a literal rock-paper-scissors system. And the thing is, FE has the mechanics in place for a much more natural feeling balance system around Might, Defense, Attack Speed and Avoid. A character with high speed is great against a unit with average stats, but poor against a character with abysmal speed but great defense. A very high might can do a lot of damage, but might be poor against an avoid tank. IMO, diversifying the might, weight and hit stats of the different weapons a bit more could recreate a much more gradual and more interesting balance between the weapons than the rather artificial hard counters of the triangle.
@@Mojo1356 maybe a cartoon style *mob-in-a-cloud that happens on the map like ballistas *just a big dust cloud with a random assortment of hands and feet sticking out of the cloud.
@@timotheatae You know this is a semantic thing. the GBA is a 32 bit system however I said 16 bit because each sprite in a GBA can only have 15 colors plus transparency, making it a 16 bit sprite. However we casually call nes graphics 8 bit even though their sprites only contain 3 and transparency making them 4 bit sprites.
@@timotheatae Well the NES is an 8 bit system because 4 colors in each sprite and 4 channels for sound. Same goes for the GBA. 16 colors and 16 sound channels. i corrected the other person but its just a mattter of semantics. Im technically correct cause the sprite in question is literally a 16 but sprite. But 8 bit graphics are all actually 4 bit, but are called 8 bit after the what I just discussed. i dont really know what to say about talking about the ds and beyond. Like yeah even your average image can be saved or modified to have different bit depths easily hundreds and thousands...

So long as you're not fighting inside a forest tile, or against assassins and thieves in general, axes are still viable in 3H. For those other cases just spam Gambits.

This is amazing! :o It made me so nostalgic. I felt the secondhand anger at Edelgard missing all of her attacks deep in my soul Also, spriting is difficult! Byleth and Jeralt don't look as polished as the lords, but they don't look terrible. And Kostas looks really good!! Looking forward to seeing more of this if you decide to continue. :)
Thanks a lot for the kind words! Means a lot! Yeah, I'm really trying my best with the spriting stuff, but I just never really got into drawing & art stuff when I was younger. Atleast I kinda made up for it by focusing on music and basic programming skills, but it's definitely still something I want to pick up properly and learn before I get too old lol. :D Anyhow, I would definitely like to continue this, but I'd have to get a whole lot better in spriting or someone needs to help me with making them. :P

Claude the archer unit crits at 4%, Dimitri the lancer unit just being average, Edelgard the axe unit missing EVERY ATTACK while the enemy with slightly better chances lands ALL OF THEM on her at x2, boss somehow dodging everyone single attempt by Jeralt the overpowered green unit, and finally the main character ending the first chapter with a crit on the boss. That is so fucking classic Fire Emblem I'm just crying. XD

I held my breath and smiled while watching this! Three Houses is my first FE game because I had only the DS lite growing up and was too young to understand such a complex game. It’s meaningful to experience the traditional graphics and play style, thank you for all your hard work

Matthew Magnani doable but requires a lot of coding. Basically have to insert every player input after before “wait” and store it as a float for each character and then every computer input as well. If you get it right once it’s basically finished but I don’t know how well the scripting engine would handle that for gba. I imagine it would overload it and crash the game depending on how many units moved
@TheeGiovanni It could handle the smaller maps, stuff like the prologue and first few quests, but it would tank at the first sight of a monster unit. Even just Miklan would make the GBA struggle slightly. Maps like Chapter 19/20 for SS/GD and 18 for BE would absolutely shred the GBA’s hardware, let alone the rest that are indeed more intensive.
@@korinoriz I wouldn't say it's impossible. You may need a few loading screens and it would take a hell lot of work, but the actual gameplay and mechanics in Garreg Mach aren't that complex. It's just a big area that needs to fit on the GBA. If you can have fully open world Pokémon game then surely just Garreg Mach should be possible.
@@korinoriz with the intermission chapter have a bug map with no enemies but have things like shops and hidden items like a sand level. Have it be a seize mission and have key areas or people be near the seize point to progress story
I consider this a challenge. I like challenges. I may give it a go when I get better at programming. Maybe post the rom and source code. That’s still over a year off though sadly.

I accidentally misclicked the Geico commercial with the snow globe because it was above this video in recommendations. Then I scrolled down to the comments to see what everyone was saying to figure out whether I should check it out or not. But I accidentally misread the comment about the one lone woman in the commercial as being about the one lone woman in this video, and I thought, “What do you mean by Edelgard’s sprite looking like Michael Jackson in his later years?” And then I realized I was in the completely wrong video. That aside, I really liked this video, even though seeing Edelgard’s attacks missing gave me secondhand anger.
If I get some people who are willing to make the portraits for the Three Houses characters. (You can see I'm not the best at that). I'm willing to give it a shot. :)

Lol, Edelgard misses every single attack. This is really cool. GBA era is my favorite for the Fire Emblem franchise. With the weapon triangle and rescuing back, I assume everyone will have a linear promotion path and there won’t be any monastery stuff? Honestly, I would probably enjoy 3 houses more if it were like that instead.

That looks honestly impressive o.O it must also have taken a lot of time to recreate the portraits (Byleth's face though lol). His battle sprite looks really neat with the cape and the completely black/gray look. I'm not a fan of the red details in his outfit, so this gba version is a huge win for me. Really well done

Jeralt looks a bit young here but I’ve seen the other comment suggesting using Brendan Reed’s face to help, that should work! And I think Kostas’s hair looks too white? :0 but then I’m aware of a color limit for the sprites, was this due to that? Your friend did great on the lord’s sprites btw!
