LYRICS:
Fhir a' bhàta, s na hóro eile
Fhir a' bhàta, s na hóro eile
Fhir a' bhàta, s na hóro eile
Mo shoraidh slàn leat 's gach àit' an téid thu
'S tric mi sealltainn on chnoc a’s àirde
Dh'fheuch am faic mi fear a' bhàta
An tig thu 'n-diugh no 'n tig thu màireach
'S mur tig thu idir gur truagh a ta mi
Tha mo chridhe-sa briste brùite
'S tric na deòir a ruith o’m shùilean
An tig thu nochd no 'm bi mo dhùil riut
No 'n dùin mi 'n doras le osna thùrsaich?

I saw the live video and it made me angry that the people in the audience couldn’t stay quiet. So happy this version exists. Now I can admire your voice in peace.

Awwww, magical!!!!I've learned this song long ago, but fell in love with it again when heard "The Fields of Ard Skellig" in The Witcher 3. they use only few lines from the song, not all of it, but still sounds very beautiful! But acapella with your beautiful voice is even better! :D :))) ^^ Hard to find a word to describe! :))

+Alisa Yastrebova Thanks for your compliments Alisa! I didn't know this song appeared in a video game - thanks for the heads up! I only speak English fluently, but I also understand/speak a bit of Afrikaans, and can understand/speak a little bit of Zulu and Xhosa. I have sung in many more languages because of classical training and singing in choirs! Latin, Italian, German, French, Czech, Spanish etc.

A close second favourite is Chi Mi Na Morbhanna (Misty covered mountains) I first heard the tune in the film Local Hero many years ago. I wonder if you know it? My son has learned both and plays them for me on his bagpipes.

+Manuel Garcia Jr. I like hearing my harp described as "magnificent", great word to use! Thank-you. Things are going very well in South Africa. I am busy with my music and had my harp serviced today. Did you see my album has just been released for download? You can listen to the full album on the website free of charge :)

Shiver-producing, as always. Because your gmail address would not allow me to send you a St. Patrick's Day blessing, I'm sending one here, beneath an incredibly lovely Scottish song -- touch of irony. You are always in my prayers, particularly in gratitude for the solace that your music brings.

+Manuel Garcia Jr. No problem, it's up to you :) You won't hear all the songs on RU-vid as I'm only uploading 8 of the 14 tracks to RU-vid, but they will be on my Bandcamp page if you ever want to listen there. Keep well. xx

very interesting to hear you sing in different languages christy, i used to listen to a lot of riverdance stuff (cause friends of the family listened to that and they were around alot so always cds from riverdance playing back then) so im a bit familiar with the style although i dont understand a word. What is this song about? Greets!
@LearningtheHarp
@LearningtheHarp 8 лет назад
+Calamaistr Hi! This song is a sad love song from the perspective of a girl who is in love with a sailor. The chorus says "Oh my boatman, best wishes be with you wherever you may be". She speaks about waiting up at night hoping he will come home, and then going to bed in tears. She goes up on the highest hilltop to look for his return, and asks the other boatman if they've seen him, but they tell her she is a fool to love him.
@Calamaistr
