CORRECTIONS (thanks to members of the community in this video's comments and Discord for helping me find these): GENERAL 1. Any references to the player's Defense/Magic Defense (such as the Heroin effects) should be disregarded. The player's Defense and Magic Defense stats have no effect on damage calculations (but the damage reduction in the description of different armor items does). EX-SOLDIER 1. Mention of the pistol being able to one-shot small enemies "such as dogs" might be misleading. Certain larger hounds you encounter will not die to one pistol bullet in the overworld. 2. A single shot with a Trenchgun allows you to open the padlocked gate at the front of the main city, making starting with a guaranteed one as the Ex-soldier a potential benefit if you want an easier time getting in there. OCCULTIST 1. The Occultist always starts with chalk, so she can draw ritual circles right away. 2. Ghouls raised by Necromancy cannot be raised again if they die, so you do have to take care of them to an extent if you want to keep the same ones for a long time. 3. You can only sacrifice one party member on each Gro-goroth ritual circle. However, if you get the Blood Sacrifice skill it can be used repeatedly to get to max Gro affinity off of one circle. DOCTOR 1. The Doctor starts with 1 level of Sylvian affinity if you skip his backstory. 2. The Loving Whispers spell costs 30 mind, instead of 20 like I said. This makes the Doctor's alcohol supply option less efficient as fuel for party healing than how I described. YELLOW MAGE 1. The Yellow Mage starts with 1 level of Gro-Goroth affinity if you skip his backstory. 2. The Yellow Mage does NOT lose his +25 Max Body buff if you skip his backstory. Starting with 100 max Body seems to be a temporary bug that is fixed after a couple of in-game minutes. BOTANIST 1. Condensed Nettle inflicts both the "Irritation" and "Can't do shit 1" effects on the target, the effects of which are listed here: fearandhunger.wiki.gg/wiki/Status_Effects_F%26H2#Enemy_Debuffs-0 JOURNALIST 1. The Journalist's pistol ammo counts are incorrect in the video. She gets 6 pistol ammo from the "Grab a Pistol" choice as listed, but when choosing "Self-Defense Supplies", she gets 5 pistol ammo if she did NOT select "Grab a Pistol" from the previous choice, and 7 pistol ammo if she DID "Grab a Pistol" in the previous choice. The game's dialogue will always say she gets 5 ammo from Self-Defense Supplies, but she starts with a total of 13 ammo if you choose both "Grab a Pistol" and "Self-Defense Supplies".
Question about necromancy. I do know the premise of necromancy and that there is a way to cancel the spell whenever a new party member is available but if ever you do so, can you raise them once again whenever needed or is it the same state as being dead?
@@gerald5561 While I have not tested it myself, my instinct tells me that they cannot be raised again (essentially they are dead if you do this). However, in Termina you can leave your ghouls at any location where you can drop off living party members, so you don't necessarily need to sever your ties to them if you want to recruit someone else.
I find it so difficult to not immediatly learn everything about termina. I just find it so interesting. And it takes away from the experience. Just knowing how punishing it can be made me extra carefull, avoiding a lot of mistakes that I could have made in the beginning. "There is glass and maybe I shouldn't walk on it with the enemys around"
I kept stepping on the nails on the floor in fear and hunger 1 and the infections ended up killing runs so when I started fear and hunger 2 I was so careful because i thought the glass on the floor was the equivalent.
16:39 worth mentioning that while there are guaranteed lucky coins, the officer sword is not a guaranteed drop and sandman's kiss is quite a good weapon having a 100% chance to poison
@@mercanaryyohei2219 I don't think so. There are two different types of poison in the game though, poison and toxin. Fire is also a damage over time. All damage over time effects are incredibly strong, especially against bosses.
I can already tell this is gonna be a good one given that I'm not even 10 seconds in and you have already called Fear & Hunger a living in eastern Europe simulator. That's so FUCKING GOOD-
I'm not planning on playing it either, but I have a friend who wants to go in blind, so I'm trying to pick up knowledge in case he gets stuck, so he doesn't spoil himself.
You like Miro Haverinen? His early work was a little too grimdark for my taste. But when Termina came out in '22, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically.
Great guide. one of the few points I disagree with is marrina's choice with gods. I personally prefer gogoroth because he the best magic DPS wise and freeing up 2/3 ritual circles from him to other gods like silvan or vinshka is invaluable. Especially when you consider that if you want you can make 3 blood portals and 3 gofh idols with the perfection circle so you can get the benefits from both of them. Also if you know what you are doing and can kill almost everything in the starting area you can get enough soul stones to instantly start with full Gogoroth skils however gofh engraving and skin bible is best with rher being second best in my eyes
interesting take. i also like the ability to speck into both rher and vinushka trees without wasting sigils on either in places where they arent as useful for new players. take the church with either access to the sabbath or to the heartshaped locket. the locket is amazing but unless you are prepared for the fight it entails, neither of these options are good sadly, but you need to spend at least 3 of the 4 asymmetric circles just to get full affinity with 1 of these gods 😭
I've heard of a strat with Daan that involves you starting with max affinity for Sylvian and then teaching healing whispers to Abella, giving your team two healers as soon as evening of day one.
One and more thing about the trench gun: It can be used to shoot open the lock at the city gate, allowing you to skip the whole key searching process. That makes it quite easy to run into needless as well.
When it comes to Daan, his Analyse skill is really helpfull in intro sequence, you can use it to kill janitor, something which with character Like Daan is very difficult, and get a good early game weapon, and since you are restored to Perfect condition later, you are losing nothing on that
If you play as Levi and do his intro, then try to get killed as soon as possible by Needles in the bunker (make sure you're alone when you do this), and it'll cure him of the addiction. Levi is also pretty usable with Daan as the main character, since you can get Levi killed or sacrifice him to Gro Goroth and use Magna Medicinal to revive him in order to get rid of his addiction, and this is made better if you have the Salmonsnake Rune, so the only cost of Magna Medicinal is 50 mind.
You're really right about Marcoh. I went back on my "shitty" start save I was raging at, apparently I was just playing bad for his skillset. I can target torso turn 1 against a lot more enemies than I thought, even the early-game moonscorched ghouls that have 2 hands with ~30 damage claws each and a nasty bite, can be oneshot-ed if you roll nice damage on each of the two hits on a torso focus. I was surprised by how little he needs to limb target here early on tbh, after watching a lot of F&H1 shit on yt I thought torso would be a noob trap. I still think that the perfect block ability is better than the others now though. You can build for a damage-boosted quad-attack on their torso with practically zero downsides for doing it. When you're later game with more options, this ability still breaks hard combats and you'd just unlock the other ones you'd want by then anyways.
Attacking the torso can be a good strategy in Fear & Hunger. You just need to know the damage thresholds you have to break. If you get leg sweep on D'arce you can immediately get Miasma and be incredibly powerful too.
I did a run as Marcoh and yeah, he's insanely strong. I was solo most of the game because I prefer it to the heavy resource management of having a party, and Marcoh was able to 1v1 almost everything. I beat a ton of Old Town enemies including the woodsman by just gambling for headshots, since you have double the chance to hit with the two-hit bare fists, and then by the time I made it into town I had 16 agility and was able to attack and perfect block in the same turn. Couple this with Marcoh's evade and counter stances, and he could basically just tank his way through every fight and withstand insane amounts of punishment, while constantly counterattacking and punching, the double punch being stronger than basically every weapon until late game. I was easily soloing fights that would normally cut off all your limbs and 3 shot you.
As someone who's never really made it into Prehevil past Old Town (I got the game a few days ago) this is really helpful. Marina quickly turned into my unexpected favorite after thinking it would be Karin or Marcoh and you really made it easier to see what would be optimal for my playstyle.
marina is pretty hard to get started with because she has weaker overall stats and cant carry 2 handeds. i wish you luck, i really want to beat the game with her 1 day 😁
The structure of your whole video is academic and rigid in nature. Its not a bad things, but it is an objective type of video. And i enjoy this kind if video.
18:20 I'm not sure that one extra bear trap would help beginners that much. Needles doesn't lose legs to traps, Axeman is already trivial with a wrench tosses, so from early bosses you're left only with priest or Vile to use it on. Burning talent and supplies on them kinda feels wasteful to me. Help -> Weaponcraft -> Spare parts puts you one heroin short of a Sandman's kiss, which is a fairly strong weapon all throughout the game, and I wouldn't say that heroin is THAT uncommon. You'll probably get it before you get into town, and if all else fails there's a guarantied ways of getting it, so there's also that. 30:40 I would recommend steal over lockpicking to beginners every day of the week. Steal gives you much more loot compared to few extra doors you can open with lockpicking, not to mention that it can yield even some rare items from early enemies, like bear traps from villagers.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! Imo an inexperienced player could still benefit from using a bear trap against Woodsman, Vile, riflemen, the knife and pipe villagers, or the moonscorch ghouls if they haven't figured out the most efficient ways of dealing with those enemies yet, or don't know how to get a second party member quickly. I also wouldn't consider it a waste to use one to escape from Needles if the alternative is a game over, even if they don't permanently cripple him. You're right that all these enemies can be dealt with much more efficiently with other methods... If you know how, which was something I tried not to presume too much for the beginner recommendations.
@@foolsgold5588 speaking as someone who actually started playing F&H2 as Abelle with trapcraft and spare parts (without wrench toss and help though, so there's that), I think I've used trapcraft two times throughout the game. Maybe my luck with scrap metal was terrible, but I never had enough of them to craft extra traps, not to mention that when you get into the city traps kinda lost their points. It did helped me get Priest down, and I generally ignored Axeman and Vile until much later, but I would still say that it hurt me more then helped. What you need to remember about Abelle, is that she has no extra companions until you get into the city, and even then first one you'll likely get is Levi. Sandman's kiss actually makes Levi somewhat useful, so there's also that.
I’d probably argue with Marina you’re way better going for Gro Goroth or another God on her second choice. If you’re set on getting the GOFAH Skin bible anyway, it becomes very easy to raise affinity by using 2 perfection circles and knock a ton of stuff out on day one morning, meaning you can dip into a ton of damaging spells AND get that extra agility too, all by the first evening.
I agree with this tbh but I think there's something to be said for newer players being able to get easier access to save points, makes the game a lot less frustrating to learn
I know this video is about two months old but I would strongly, strongly suggest starting with max gro affinity and necromancy. you can revive the free bodies that are available to you at the start of the game and use them to kill every other enemy and non hostile moonscorched, giving you the ability to start day 1 afternoon with black orb and blood golem which are just incredible. after reaching the church and collecting the amulet from the rafters and optionally fighting the man in the confessional and taking his skills, you can create what is in my opinion the strongest build in the entire game.
I would highly advice against chosing GOFAH as the starting choice for max affinity. Drawing her symbol at the right cirrcles gives you one free extra save (or freaking 3 on easy) each. Since saving is so limit. you will likely draw at least 3 of those anyways. If you start her skin bible, it's very easy to get those affnity points early on. The old gods are much more difficult to gain affenity with and Alll-mer's skills are pretty useless (the first one is alright, but there's another way to get that one point). If you pick either Rher or Vinushka and get certain skills, you can max out affiennity with all gods. Without said skill, you can skill reach maximum with all but one god. So Vinushka is probably the best choice since he gives you good skills and there are no alternative ways beyond drawing circles to gain affinity with him, unlike Sylvian and Gro-goroth. Sylvian is the second best choice, espically if you aren't planning on getting those aforementioned skills. Gro-goroth can always be maxed out by drawing only one circle, finding a predrawn one and sacrificing some ghouls.
I have a slightly different opinion on this matter. The GOFAH skin bible is really good since the Alll-mer skills and sigils are really not all that worthwhile. You will probably want to put GOFAH sigils on every perfection circle you come across for the extra saves. Then you'll want maxed out Gro-Goroth affinity because it'll allow you to get black smog very early in the game. Black smog hits every target, can blind, does a fair amount of damage, and only costs 10 mind. It is hands down one of the best offensive spells in the game. Vinushka's skills aren't bad, but they're also not all that amazing. You could make a case for killing Samarie early on by sleeping so you can get blood sacrifice, but you'll need to get to the orphanage to use the free sigil there or waste one of the 4 asymmetrical circles in the game for it. I don't think that's a great trade, especially since Samarie can cut your limbs off. Also, the Rher skin bible isn't a bad choice either since you can get +25 mind and golden gate easily. Just plop down the Rher sigil at the broken hut, the mansion, and the woodsman's house and you've got access to the orphanage, church, and moldy apartments.
Imo Funger God max affinity can completely break non Maso mode runs because of easy access of Rats and (You know who) being in the confessional which allows you to get Spice Forged+Greater Rats+Betel's Stone from shop which completely trivialized all non boss encounters if you have a second party member. The lack of boss damage is of concern but I did a hybrid build with magic reserved for stunning and healing and managed to beat Rher since I didn't rely on magic for my damage. (EDIT: I just realized you could get Betel's Stone at the church for free and starting with Engrave allows you to get a +5 agi plus another +1 from the skill tree which means you don't need a second party member to sweep most fights) I know it's not as optimized as going full magic or full physical but the magic system of this game really makes you go wild or maybe spice forged is a bit too broken.
In my run, i went with Abella, Wrench toss, Weaponcraft and Sparw parts. You can in fact, get Sandmann's Kiss very early in the game if you go to the bunker and defeat Needles using the Gas Canister strategy to get some heroin and get a really nice starting weapon. I then went to the alleway next to the moldy Apartments, andnused Fecal hounds bodyies to trap the mob behind a chokepoint and killed the Meat grinder and the Mallet dude with the sniper rifle. And i got an easy, early meat grinder by day 1 afternoon.
@@foolsgold5588 I need some software I make my own stuff like termina maso runs but what I really want to do is make memes and funny videos I just don’t know what kind of software to use for this anyways cheers man
when you said you were going to give recommendations for each character i pumped my fist - id seen plenty of recommendations for which *characters* were better than others but few for how to optimise each individually - but then i saw the first graphic mapping out everything & was blown away. tysm for this ive been adoring the F & H despite not being able to get very far into it & this will help tremendously
Wow this is a great video. When I clicked I wasn't expecting you to go so above and beyond with the infographics, now I am going to have to check out your other videos.
O'saa can get double turns very early if you decide to take the full adventure, if you don't die earlier you should be able to check the tents 3 times for small things amulet. Then you just kill Tanaka or get affinity with Gofah for 1 extra agility. This also makes Meditate op.
legit i couldn't find more comprehensive characters guide other than this video. i'm on my second run now and your video truly helped me alot on whose i should pick next to play. thank you!
Imo for O'saa the best combo is Chac Chac +1 god affinity with Vinushka danse macabre Rher and magical supplies, why? If you are an experienced player you should be able to get through most of the game with things like mischief of rats or combustion Draw rher sigil on the shack close to the train, the church of Alll-mer, and maybe the woodsmans house As for the one in the mansion it depends on what you want, there is a bug for max full heals if you draw a sylvian circle on the mansion and get there with the golden gates If you something more offensive draw Vinushka on the woodsmans house and Rher on all the others or you can also draw sylvian on the mansion for a full heal and her spells, your early game might be a bit rough but the power of your end game will be insane
7:28 (Spoiler) 90% sure he's talking about the needles bug. If you intentionally lose to him as Levi you'll experience a good time but for some reason this good time is so good that it literally cures his withdrawal symptoms. Be careful though as I'm pretty sure you wanna go down to his needle whip not his mystery injection or glock 17
@@foolsgold5588 I believe that is correct. It’s also the name of the town in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, that game also had a giant moon with a face, and a three day timer. He must’ve drawn some inspiration from it. But yea “Termina” is definitely referencing “the end”/death in both games.
12:30 I disagree with getting max affinity with GOFAH as you can draw a circle at the train to get enough affinity for agility and not even save at it. Also only other sigil you can draw on perfect circles is all mer which is quite bad. Gorgoth is also dubious choice since if you take necromancy you can just sacrifice your ghouls. I'd personally take sylvian as healing magic is very useful and running around lacking limbs is fun and I'd rather save the circles for rehr or vinushka
Max GOFAH is pretty goated due to the potential stunlock you could get that early in the game with Betel's Ring and Spice Forge if you could rush to the church but besides that, the other gods are a lot more consistent
Thank you for the comment. I'm not opposed to it, but I think there's already a healthy amount of F&H lore videos out there and probably by people who are better at extrapolating such things than me. I would like to make full or abridged playthroughs as each character and try to show off some of the more obscure mechanics and options though.
Yeah, they have to be actively following you when you sleep or use the table though. So if they sit down when you bring them back to the train for example, you gotta grab them before going to sleep.
Cannot BELIEVE this dude is recommending La Danse Macabre over Hurting. How are you gonna make use of that boosted magical attack if you don't have any SPELLS brah 💀💀
5:27 "...if you try to fight them fairly." - The word "fair" is misplaced. You mean "head on". "Fair" implies rules and gentlemanship. In the Battle Royale that you are in there are neither.
Awesone video man! Very useful indeed. Just one question. You mentioned that you can get rid of Levi's addiction pretty early but you didn't want to spoil how. How do you do it? The only way I found is by him being not being the main character, letting him die and then reviving him with Daan. But I would like to have him full power as my main character.
@ManuelRodriguez-db3hv you have to lose to Needles. You can head straight for the bunker west of the woodsman’s house at the start to do so very early. Game is bugged in a way that the special cutscene you get after losing wipes all negative statuses. The only downside to this is I’m pretty sure you can’t keep Abella with you afterward. My two cents on this scenario is you are better off just refusing the mission .Losing out on the Gun skill day one morning is completely mitigated by sleeping once after clearing the old town of heads for soul stones.
Dont get perfect guard frist for Marcoh if you want o'saas meditate. For some reason getting guard+ first before meditation bricks both skills. So get meditate first then perfect guard.
You should mention levi's heroin addiction can be cured if he lose to needle alone without teammates. This might help alot of player for the rest of the game .Heroin withdrawal would be really nuisance to play with.
Good luck going forward! Saving is important to leveling up and getting stronger too, so don't be afraid to do it to save your file even though it makes time pass.
@@indragaming7799 that is the other option. You can either do that through Daan or get killed by Needles. Both feel like they weren't intended, but hey, they work
