It's almost unbelievable they used to perform this style of music live with Raymond not drumming to a click track, without in-ear monitoring for all of them and with the loops triggered and Synth played in real time by John. And they still pulled it off!
It was other times, and practicing a lot and doing things more natural due to not having the quantity of tools and technology now modern people use, they always focused on playing and composing music that they could play without having those complications, nowadays modern bands use a lot of tools to play it more perfect but feels a bit unnatural and at some point if they don't have those tools they won't play live as expected on what you hear on the album and the timings
Dude , in Bizarrefest there was hundreds of legendary bands , we was used to them , we used to live the music from within , not doing poser modern things as all the post-millenial crowds does because they can only imagine how it was the 90s for real . Honestly wannabe rock crowds of 2020s or 2010s doesnt look very different of the Trap (or whatever) ones for me , just posing and moving like headless chickens . Not to mention 90% of them are with a camera in the hand , all just for TikTok or RU-vid , lmao .
Honestly, FF were absolutely on *FIRE* with their live performances during the Obsolete era. Probably some of their best work during Burton's tenure in the band.
Just want to take this opportunity to state that this was the pinnacle of the bands songwriting and I want to thank them for helping me through some of the darkest days I've ever known. Obsolete was a masterpiece and saved me from a dark place
Gods, he used to be such a tremendous singer. It truly is a shame his high-register is gone. Dude was untouchable. This Resurrection is absolutely heavenly.
Well he's almost 50 years old now, all the singers lose their voice when they get older especially when they've been performing for decades, in Finland there are singers who have been performing since the 60-80s to this day and they all sound like crap compared what they used to sound like
Hell yeah, and in March at the Fillmore in Minnie will be much of the same. Haven't seen'em since Demanufacture tour at the Mojeska Theatre in MKE. Don't miss the new tour bro!!! 🤙
@@DeepSouthPal84 back in 98 when i first heared FF with the song self bias resistor and scapegoat it blows my mind, the same time i discovered coal chamber, vision of disorder and nailbomb.. eventually i started collecting road runner records albums after FF.. by the way im 36
I'm the same age as Burton C. Bell (51) & STILL ROCK their 'Obsolete' abum beginning to end like it was released yesterday. That album predicted ALL the chaotic events of 2020. Fear Factory were WAY ahead of all these new suck-ass "hipster" metal bands. FF FOREVER! 🤘😷🎸☣
@@DrozChann3L Roadrunner Records Was a killer record label. Hard to believe and nobody realizes that even Nickelback got their start on that label too! LOL.
justin small - yeah what’s up with the mix? Seems like the drums were intermittent and then there’s a lot of chaos and off tempo shit like Dino was a measure ahead or the keyboardist was not rehearsed especially for Resurrection towards the end of the song. Maybe just honest mistakes but I thoroughly enjoyed this concert
@@golz9785 The mix is a live tv broadcast mix, and they tend to be very average generally, because it's a festival so there is no real soundcheck and the tv broadcast mix is made in a rush and adjusted live. It's like listening to a soundboard mix alone with levels that are wrong.
This is Fear Factory in their prime. Their first 3 albums where awesome as they sound very original like no other. Thanks for uploading this video. I'm enjoying it amidst this Corona freakin' Virus pandemic. 🤘🤘🤘
When I listen to Fear Factory I get this immense motivation / terror mashup sensation, really difficult to describe. Almost like a voice in my head saying "This life could end at any time, and you really don't want to experience what's comes next, so take this opportunity to push yourself to the max". Then I lift harder, run farther, study more, and put myself into robot mode to get through whatever comes at me. Favorite band.
"Fear me not but fear my hell. Man made me so I could kill. Praise me in the name of war, I destroy both rich and poor." I fucking love the lyrics in Smasher/Devourer. I agree, highly underrated song of theirs.
AA Fear Factory,NIN(I don't like NIN but there's NO denying their importance),Ministry,Skinny Puppy,Devin Townsend(also with Strapping Young Lad),Between the buried and me,arguably Rammstein(some people don't think so but I do),and White Zombie are all important Industrial metal bands.
Man I saw fear factory at the electric factory on the jagermister tour with chiamira and slipknot. Great show. Fear factory is underrated. They where way before their time. They made industrial metal that few can best. Ministry, early chiamira, nail bomb all underrated
There are a certain songs you hear when your young that pull you to metal even when you're a classical guitar nerd. One by metalica, shock by fear factory, and still remains by stp. Those had me shredding the hell out of my nylon strings till I got electrified. I don't know if this is an official fear factory link but if it is thank you for getting ready and pumped to do anything. It wasn't long after hearing shock that I decided I need an amp and distortion. Been a great time since! I'm rock in right now.
Same here. My brother got me the Obsolete album back in 1998 and I've been a metal head ever since. I'd come home from school and jam this in my room while reading the lyrics booklet that not only had the lyrics but the story about each song.
I was able to see them at a different festival in 98. Seen them several other times, this is by far my favorite lineup. They are still amazing live now, but there was just an energy this group brought to the table when they played together
Brilliant set. Makes me wish that Dino and Burt could work out their differences and get back to what matters, but I know that won't happen. Regardless, I am grateful for the amazing music they made together. Those melodies make my heart soar to a place where time doesn't matter.
OH MAN this is one of the best live performances i seen with FF on here .. they were young and still angry and burton clean vocal was great ! dont get me wrong i fucking LOVE FF !!!!
I seen them on the Slayer Diablo s in musica tour with Kilgore as the opening act man they put on a intense show definitely a band I'm glad I got to see it was in Asbury Park NJ good times and a adventure on the train from Dover NJ
His voice was probably at its peak during this era, for a while it was not great at all. He did improve after getting voice around the time Genexus came out, though.
Saw them in September 1998. I remember this so well as it was a Sunday night and the first day of my Sr year was the next day. We had to run from Roseland Toth’s river to catch the ferry back to NJ from NYC. Amazing show
I miss this fucking band. Can't wait for their 2019 release. Haven't seen them live since 2000. They randomly played my school. I threw the football around with Dino and Burton. One of the great metal bands of the 90's.
This concert was incredible, everyone at their best, the first three ff albums are second to none and the best in composition, for me, after that nothing would ever be the same
TheSmashingTesticles Why do you keep watching FF videos if you think Burton has always sounded like shit? This is now the 4th or 5th video you have decided to let me know this, I mean, why don't you go and listen to some bands you actually do like?
This reminds me of seeing them in Ozzfest summer of 1997, right after I graduated HS. They put on a kickass show. I miss the old lineup, but the new stuff they are putting out recently is kickass.
I remember my neighbor blasting “soul” from across the street waay back in the day. I instantly loved it! But in response, i start blasting disincarnate from my house🤨. Next thing I know, james murphy emerged from my neighbors house and walked over. We had a cool chat. I got to fanboy out a bit. Ahh the good old days. Still a huge FF fan too. 🤘
Those keyboard sounds in Shock reminds me of all the House Ordos themes in Emperor: Battle For Dune In the Ordos language, there is not a single word for the concept of honour. There are more than 300 for the concept of profit
Does anyone know anything about Burton's tribal tattoo on his right and left arms that looks like the Slipknot S? Did Joey Jordison come up with the idea for it from Burton?
Pinky finger actually has more strength. Better overall for hand health, as any guitarist who has had tendonitis in the ring finger can tell you. If Dino changed fingers he uses, it may be for hand health.
always used my ring finger as well. I have bigger hands so it feels awkward to use it on 3 string power chords and even worse on 2 finger power chords. Plus it frees up my pinky for shreddy goodness. I actually switched to bass when I played in my little local band solely because it felt more comfortable and everyone else bitched about the finger strength to make a bass sound powerful.
