I used to be a metal head and a meth addict. I became Muslim 16 years ago when I was 22, and stopped making and listening to music completely, and drugs, smoking, and alcohol. I just listened to these songs again a few days ago and all the memories and feelings came back to me. I missed those times when I was just starting my 20s. I’m now 38 and I just want to say that I love you all for sharing your love of this music with me. I have become a bit less strict of a Muslim and I believe that knowing Islam is far greater than anything that I had left behind, and I’m infinitely greater to be guided to Islam. But anyway, I have gratitude to be with you and share the bond of humanity and such epic music.

After the smoke clears And the flames subside (We have been forsaken...) A thousand eyes were upon me Soulless, and without mind (We have been forsaken...) Will there never... Will there never... Will there never be an end? If I could be forgiven Every breath would be a prayer (We are not forgiven...) Will there never... Will there never... Will there never be an end? I have tread, and spanned the horizon I've seen this world, the beauty in decay I strike down the faceless and unknown I feel blessed, for I can see The stars look down on me... The stars look down on me... The stars look down on me... The stars look down on me... Will there never... Will there never... Will there never be an end? Will there never be an end? Will there never be an end? Will there never be an end? Stars look down on me... Stars look down on me... Stars look down on me... Stars look down on me...

As a freshman in college, I met a dude who would later become my best friend throughout the 1st year. As we experienced ‘higher learning’ 😄, driving, parties, girls and all the other shit that came with being a teen in the 80’s, - we were chillin in his room one day and he gave me this album (remember compact disks? 😄 ) I’m 39 now and I still come back to this album.

FYI this album is a decade after the 80s. It's even after the 90s....so wtf r u talking bout? And FF is not party music. If you want that go to punk, pop, or Andrew wk. For me fear factory is holy music...bc as I was learning double bass drumming which is a big step beyond normL traditional, single bass drumming; FF was one of a few bands whom taught me the elite, highest, form of dB drumming alongside sepultura, Pantera and type o negative.

What a way to close a fantastic record. Digimortal is so underrated. Honestly, no other song could have been better than this one as the final track. It has both an uplifting energy and a certain uncertainty in the lyrics, and oh my god! That chorus!

When I was at a technical school to get my year 10 certificate, a friendly stoner dude gave me a CD rip of this album (this was about 2000/2001 at the time). For context, I'd been home schooled and sheltered until this point, so I was 16/17 years old. The only music I'd really heard much of was classical music and classic rock, including stuff like Alice Cooper, Meatloaf (thanks Dad for those), Kiss, and Queen (thanks Mum in particular for those two). Not to mention goddam hymns. My father always said things like "rap is crap" and how heavy metal was just people screaming hoarsely. The only people I really knew were other home schooled kids, of which I didn't see too often, so I didn't really develop my own musical tastes. This was nothing like I'd heard before and it was what prompted me to start exploring what kind of music I personally enjoyed. Now, this and Invisible Wounds were my favorite songs, I could take or leave the rest. But those two songs have been etched into my brain. Today, I don't see my family much, which is good. And though I still enjoy a lot of classic rock like Kiss and Queen (my mum has better taste than dad when it comes to rock music, IMO), it comes with some memories and baggage. But this and Invisible Wounds are free of that. There's a sense of peace and freedom that they give me, a sense of hope.

Totally understand this, I was 14 and it was summer, so we moved to my grandma's house by the beach in south Spain, all my cousins were much older than me so the only thing i had that summer was a crappy cheap acoustic guitar left in the corner of their room and two albums, Digimortal and Still Life by Opeth. Needless to say i had no friends there and i was listening to this couple of albums all day in a lockdown cause i only got out to take a bath at the sea sometimes and skate. I practiced guitar at night (my neighboors liked that cause they used to sleep listening to me so when i ceased to go there for summer in subsecuent years they would tell that to my grandma) So anyway, this couple of tracks, Invisible Wounds (Dark Bodies) and (Memory Imprints) Never Ends were, and still are, my all-time favourite FF songs and i totally understand why, they gave me a sense of space and freedom, inner peace and security. I could fly and expand my conciousness even in that kind of lockdown and boredom Kinda broke my chains and became a new being haha, next years were way more fun to me lol going to concerts, raves, joining bands and forming mine, touring etc etc

Anyone know what Burton is repeating (over heavy vocal fx after he sings the line; "after the smoke clears"? Followed by "we are not forgiven"? I always thought it just repeating the word "clears" but when I listen closely I do not hear any "L" sound. But crears is not a word. Lol idk. So if you do lmk. He is right you know? We are not forgiven and never will be....keep that in mind as you live your life. The 1 and possibly only thing Burton has ever been incorrect about is "the flames subside". They do not. They only grow in intensity until all is consumed by the flames of fire they condemned themselves to. But that is the choice of humanity not the few true individuals like Burton C. Bell. So in a world of individual thought; the flames could subside. But not in this place...here and now...its all over.
