Made a trip to Finland in 1990, on my way back to Germany i met a group of polish veterinary students on the ferryboat..... they invited me to spend a couple of days in Warsaw..... we had such great partys with a lot of alcohol and danced a lot to this tune❤.... i also felt in love with one girl..... now we are married for 32 years and still dance to this song😊
Your Sister is telling you to get on with life and, get out of your comfy space, start moving and grooving until you let so much out of you that you end up feeling good about yourself with a pure emptiness that has only space for good stuff to build on.
@@paveantelic7876 I will NEVER understand how we Gen Xers are lumped in with boomers; two entirely different generations with entirely different legacies.
@@belindasimkin4736 Yeah, actually I'm 58. It was a joke. I probably shouldn't have made it. I was riffing on the old, "I'm XXX years old and blah, blah, blah, blah." Your reply was very kind and I appreciate it. I do love The Sisters, and I hope you end up liking them too. Have a great day! 🧛
LOL, good one, please go outside. Ride a gas powered motorbike , don't steal, next buy a guitar and don't trust girls! buy gold and silver. Designing your own house in a field far away and become a God-fearing man, you will win!
RIP Sandy "Sandman" Watson - Everytime I hear this, I feel us marching down our high school highways, not rich, not handsome, not popular... but we owned it as my life long friend held on his mighty shoulder a silver ghetto blaster which we would assault the schools senses with this and corrosion... joyfully. I hope this gets to you sir whos singing filled years apon years of my life, thank you.
Some people get by With a little understanding Some people get by With a whole lot more I don't know Why you gotta be so undemanding One thing I know I want more I want more (And I need all the love that I can't get to) (And I need all the love I can get) (And I need all the love that I can't get to) D'you get scared to feel so much? I hate to say it and I feel like an old fart when I do but I think I'm right .... the kids., they're just copying our music. I swear I'll hear some new music wafting out from somewhere and realize its from a new band, but I can literally name the band they are sounding exactly like. Did they not get the memo?
It was 1999. My pops gave me this CD for my new stereo I got for Christmas. I was probably 7 or so. Sisters of Mercy has always been, and always will be one of my favorite bands. Turning 31 this month, still jamming to this song daily.
THIS.....memories of late cold Boston nights. Sippin on whiskey, holding my girl tight and finding adventure. I can't believe I'm still alive! Cherish the memories and enjoy life while it's still here! Rock on!
2nd year university. Buddy's early '80s Jeep CJ-7, top off. Two guys, two girls. Blasting this song as we took a midnight ride to a park just outside city limits, just because we were young and free, and because we could.
This is a masterpiece! July 2023,sumner, at the Black sea! Standing at my balcony listening to this thinking - I CAN RELATE TO THIS and I WANT MOOOOOOORRREEE! Bless you all! ❤
OMG I'm 61 in January of 23 and always had heard of the name of this band but never looked into them... I'm speechless.... un FUCKING real.... I will now play catch-up to learn and listen to everything they wrote
I'm 60 and finding out about bands from our era..too much to listen to ..these are still going now ..I saw alice cooper last year with the cult support..I was heaven two gigs in one ffs can't get better than that my mate ..check out budgie 😊❤
Heading towards 64 and finally found Sisters Of Mercy after a very long time and now just addicted to the music. If I don't hear them at least twice a day, I get very aggressive, to the point of deadly. ROCK ON!
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zBwt2psj20Q.html Very well done!
Too bad they used models instead of the real singers. It was something that unfortunately happened alot in the video era. Not that the girls aren't beautiful. I just hate when artists aren't represented. I hope they got paid well.
The Mission - such drama queens, but boy how I loved them. Even now at 57 I have them on and I can still feel "that feeling..." I had when I was a teenager, playing this at full volume in my CD Walkman that was forever skipping as I went on my long rambling, solo walks in the countryside. Typical friendless goth lol and I STILL need all that love!
I can’t believe it took me 30 years to find this glorious, excessive, absolute banger. It’s been in my head for two days and I can’t stop listening to it. Jim Steinman was a mad genius…brought out the best in whoever he worked with.
I AM AN OLD ROCKER ---- I STARTED WITH FIRST -- JIM MORISON -- THEN JEFFERSON AIRPLANE --- THE ANIMALS -- TWO LIFELONG SONGS TO LIVE WITH --- WHITE BIRD AND LUCKY MAN --- THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST GROUPS I HAVE EVER HEARD ----------TOM
I AM QUADRAPLEGLIC WITH A SLIGHT USE OF MY RIGHT ARM AND HAND --- I HAVE A LONG TERM BELIEF THAT LEONARD COHEN'S SONG ---- SISTERS OF MERCY ---- Is ABOUT PROSTITUTES HAVING A SOFT AND HEALING INFLUENCE ON THE HARD LIFE WE LIVE --- AND I DO LIKE THIS GROUP ------- THANKS ------- TOM
On a cold winters night, in my Doc's, in my gray surplus army trench coat, in my youth...I remember an old mix tape playing on my walkman, one that I spent hours doodling on, I remember the Sisters of Mercy and I remember how this song felt to me at that time. I understood that at least, in high school, this music was too far out there to be popular, but that only made it all together more special. When I met someone who had Sisters of mERCY, scribbled on a canvas backpack or on a pencil case, it felt as if I was home.
Grey Herringbone Coat, Baggy black ankle tight trousers, Suede boots and chains, back combed black spikey hair, mascara, eyeliner, lippy and a gorgeous goth gal by my side at The Underground in Croydon, that was my vibe in 85! Wow such a time!

Baby bat here!... I've been introducing myself to most of the well know goth bands/songs but this is actually my first time hearing The Sisters of Mercy! So glad I did now
True on albums, not live unfortunately. The sound is generally awful and Andrew's voice is now shot. I'll stick with the albums - not going to waste more cash on more gigs than the last two, they were dreadful to be frank. Many others feel the same way.
I just discovered that this song has been covered a couple of times. I went and had a little listen.I had to come here to cleanse my ears. The sisters do it by far the best.
This is the most incredible song to run to. Started to flatline during the London Marathon, put this on and it gave me the energy to finish. Forever grateful.
@@kentduggan8626 Eldritch wrote a song for her, supposed to go on her solo album. But her label said "nah" so they released it as a Sisters single instead. "Under The Gun"

I remember going to a club in the CBD of Port Elizabeth, South Africa around 1993. It was called "The Baron". Everyone was dressed in black. When Sisters of Mercy was on the menu the place went absolutely ballistic. What great times, unleashing in a club to this music.
You were unlucky, but because you were working very hard I am sure .. however, you can at least catch up.. I do a lot of retro myself, but it’s not quite the same is it
Early to mid 90s…I was in the army, about to go off to do whatever. A former girlfriend of mine(who I was still friends with) was a DJ at a local college radio station. I used to call her to have fun conversation about cool tunes like this one. She played this the Saturday before I deployed. Good times. When I left in the 2000s post 911 she made sure I knew she was jamming these tunes for me(she obviously was not at the college radio anymore)..we still talk about those days. Good times!!
Hi there. :) In all courteousness, we do know Pope Andrew Eldritch; himself is very kindly. Yourself names something 'this masterpiece', i.e. 'More' by The Sisters of Mercy. No. All of The Sisters of Mercy songs are unequivocally masterpieces. We are The Sisters of Mercy fans; yourself is not. Thx. :D
LG Dirk
The strings do sound convincing -presume good synth -MSO are sluts for rock bands.(no one really wants to hear more than one or two classics -music never stopped) would love to hear a collaboration.
I do agree to some extent. This album was indeed great. However, the "old" Sisters of Mercy was greater with tunes like Mariane and Emma. At the time the songs were raw and pure.
Totally agree. This Corrosion was kick ass for same reason, the back up vocals...so glad to see this extended version of the video...when it came out the song was cut short for time when played on the radio and the video was condensed too
