Fear Street Credit Scene Explained by Director Leigh Janiak

[Editor's note: The following contains spoilers for the Fear Street trilogy.]
We have hit the end of the Fear Street trilogy on Netflix, a storytelling feat that explores the history of Shadyside by moving back in time from 1994 to 1666 to reveal the effect past choices have on future generations of Shadysiders. By rolling with that specific storytelling format, it gave director Leigh Janiak the unique opportunity to kill off characters in the first two installments - 1994 and 1978 - but then to bring those actors back for film three, 1666.
No, Julia Rehwald’s Kate doesn’t live on nor does McCabe Slye’s Tommy Slater get a second chance at life, but those two plus more do get the opportunity to reappear in new roles, which is great for two main reasons. One, the Fear Street movies feature a phenomenal ensemble and the more we see of them on screen the better. Two, their return bolsters the importance of lifting this curse.
We already released a lengthy Collider Witching Hour chat with Janiak focusing on Fear Street 1994, but now that the full trilogy is available to watch on Netflix, it’s time to discuss Fear Street 1666. Check out what Janiak had to say about bringing certain actors back to play new characters in 1666, what that end credits scene could be teasing and what the Humpty Dumpty Killer is all about in this interview!

Oh my absolute sh*t...there's more coming... I'm hyped for the future of this series, I actually like how the Fear Street trilogy fleshes out how the killers' origins came to be & where it all started way back in 1666, I really want to see more of this fleshing out other killers' backstories & further expansion of Shadyside/Sunnyvale's lore...it's very good imo ;)

@noahkaltenbaugh
@noahkaltenbaugh 3 года назад
@@BritishCookie The Baby Face killer is Billy Barkman, he was bewitched and smashed his brothers head in while he was asleep and that was the only Baby Face kill due to him dying right after , the milkman killer doesn’t have a extensive story like the baby face killer due to him only killing housewives and that in my opinion couldn’t make up anything but based off what they could do in the first three installment of the movies they could do a lot, I see a lot of hope for Ruby Lane.

@samuelprince1291
@samuelprince1291 3 года назад
@@bentongrant3188 they were actually very good, if you consider the fact that if another director helmed this, it would be of much varying results, for e.g. the first would be excellent, but the next two could be spiraling downwards in quality. But with janiak, she produced a consistently ‘good’ trilogy, something that most directors can’t do.
@bentongrant3188
@bentongrant3188 3 года назад
@@samuelprince1291 I’d say consistently ok series, not good but not bad either. Just something to put on and waste time. To me, someone like Christopher Nolan, Damien chazelle, Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Del Toro, denis Villanueve.. those are directors that would’ve made three movies that would’ve had way more consistency and substance
@olivianelson1967
@olivianelson1967 3 года назад
She did a good job imo. They marketed it well to keep people on edge and the delivery of the origin of the story was solid. We don’t necessarily need to compare her to other directors because most of them have never attempted something like this. Most horror stories have the same story on repeat with a few twists and turns when she had strong ones. There’s always room for improvement in any movie but she did great. You gotta give her some credit. She wouldn’t have been a director for netflix if she couldn’t do a good job.

No wonder she was able to construct such a tight horror trilogy, she's obviously a ghost that's been haunting a secluded Inn. If I was walking down a long hallway and took a turn and saw her coming at me from the other direction, I'd just assume I was about to be murdered by a vengeful spirit. Probably something to do with a jilted lover.

@@UrSoulsBelong2Nahobeeho there are a lot of reasons..one that stands out very quickly in the first 10 minutes is that all character reactions to situations felt incredibly amateur, unrealistic and completly unbelievable to take anything seriously. It stands out as a major flaw throughout. Its done as a whole incredibly sloppy. Here's one thing I can share that does not give you a spoiler but you can't unsee it while watching if its pointed out - There's a television on throughout and it makes no sense like who the hell is watching that, who turned that on, and how did the director miss that mistake. The only good thing going for it is the music which is bought. I really wanted to like this ...like I did really bad ....but it's awful.
