@@jomanzoni He's basically their Enforcer sort of like in ice hockey in a way but the fights obviously aren't the same. But no matter who gets in a fight on the Springbok team he's there to back them up and sort it out, and if someone on the other team is being dirty you just know Eben at some point is gonna hammer the guy! He basically took over the role from Bakkies Botha who could easily be considered Rugby's ultimate enforcer, you should watch a vieo about him he was legendary!

There's a video of the locker room video before a match in the 2019 world cup match where the Springbok coach is talking to the team.. telling them to intimidate the opponents... it's all part of the game...we love it...adds to the excitementof the game... don't worry, once they come off the field they all get on with eCh other at post match dinners etc in these international matches

I may be misremembering, but I am pretty sure that incident with the dude in red getting manhandled on the ground is as a result of his very bad sportsmanship prior to that happening. I vaguely remember there being mention of the guy biting one of the Springbok (green) player's privates in a pile up right before that situation occurred, but the ref didn't see but the other players did. He paid the price.

To be fair this doesn't happen often, and when it does, 9 times out of 10 there was a prior incident that provoked it, like pulling hair, or not letting go after the play. And our boys are protective of each other, so if you start with one, you have the whole team to deal with 😅 But they usually calm down after a few seconds, so usually no need to penalize. I guess it depends what was done, but these clips are pretty much as bad as it gets.

Usually if there's pushing around there's no punishment, but if fists fly it will most likely be a Red Card

You're allowed to get handsy in the heat of the moment but you can't be the one to escalate. If you come out swinging/ headbutting and it's clear you didn't have a good enough reason you're getting sin binned (yellow card = 10 minutes) or red carded. Technically a headbutt is a bannable offense (I think it was 5 games, can't remember) but it'd have to be a clean, unwarranted, and effective headbutt to get you a ban. ((edit: I played for 15 years and never heard of anyone getting banned for "x" games). The distinction is "did you take things too far?". If a game is very violent then the ref can cancel the game but i've only seen that once. Usually he just tells everyone off and they start to play a bit more disciplined.

I'm not an avid rugby supporter/watcher, but I will not mis a single WC game the boks are playing. But, what I have noticed especially in WC 2019, when the opponents (especially England and New Zealand) are loosing against the boks, they become conniving... Biting, pulling, punching, pinching.. Rugby is not for sissies....South african Rugby players are not scared to stand up to people. Our team is really respected and they play hard rugby. These are a few moments caught in decades of rugby. If you had to do this for any other rugby team, you would get a compilation almost identical to this one. If we were dirty players, our entire team would be sitting in the sin bin every game, so this is not a true reflection. We have not been World Cup winners (more than once) for nothing.🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

Guys.. I can't keep repeating this.. RUGBY RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS YOU CAN FEW MORE THINGS THAT U CAN DO IN THE NFL.. WE DON'T USE PADS AS ITS A SPORT FOR RUGGED ME, studies have shown the no helmet vs helmet is less dangerous cause when u get it with a helmet, there's no free falling off the head vs a helmet (think of like as the equivalent to phily shell in boxing) the more tense and help in place the harder the hit(this is equavilent to being drunk and falling) tensing up just makes the area of impact harder but when u don't tense up ur body falls having a wider area.. The are protective mater like a scrum cap but that's grazing.. When u see rugby players in a ruck(aka scrum) the cap prevents the racing and causes bleeding
