On Monday, April 5, 2021, Milken Institute School of Public Health kicked-off National Public Health Week and celebrated GW's Bicentennial with the premiere screening of the documentary film, "Fearless Science," about Hurricane Maria. The event included special guest, Mike Milken, as well as remarks by Dean Lynn Goldman, and a panel discussion with GWSPH Professors Carlos Santos-Burgoa, Elizabeth Andrade, and Anne Goldman.
The documentary showcases the research conducted by Milken Institute School of Public Health scientists to ascertain the official death count caused by the Cat 4 storm that slammed into Puerto Rico on September 20, 2017. Led by Dean Goldman and Professor Santos-Burgoa, this film highlights the importance of understanding public health disasters and the innocent lives so tragically affected.
