Exactly! It so obviously does not match the cost of living! It's like giving the sick, disabled and poor a forced "choice" to choose death. This place is evil. I'm getting out. No way can I co-exist with this mindset. I am too pro-life. 🏃🏃
@@watchandburn I'd gladly pay higher taxes considering it would ensure people aren't offing themselves because they can't simply afford survival. It would be a drop in the bucket compared to keeping people surviving.
247 dead homeless in BC this year. Just evil.. the Fed , Provincial Gov. unwilling to provided dignity with adequate social supports- NOT RESPECTFULL, just evil
I agree it's horrific that when there is no technical reason for poverty, or people to go without adequate shelter, it is disturbing and a crime against humanity. What I realize is that this is a worldwide systemic issue. It is related to our economic system. Monetary-market capitalism is not sustainable. Look at war. War is profitable under capitalism. How is that not an OBVIOUS flaw to this system and reason for people to be critical of it. I think people are scared to think-outside the box. We care about common things, but we also are social beings who don't like to be excluded, even if our ideas are based in truth, science and ultimately dignity for humanity. It takes courage to speak out. However, those who do, should be admired. Let's talk, anybody who cares to.
I was approved for maid in two weeks. Two separate doctors come right to your house and ask a couple questions, and thats it. I can never get a doctors appointment that easy or fast for anything.
Who's in charge of approving this stuff? I can't help but feel this particular reason should be illegal. Not having enough money should not be an approved reason. And the suggestion of this should automatically cause the government to help that person more.
In the end, those dealing with disabilities are pushed aside by governments and society. They are looked at as dispensible as a lot of society sees them as not contributing, faking it or just being a welfare bum. Society needs to adjust its view on the disabled and governments need to help the disabled live with dignity.
It is a shame, I agree. We should be able to talk to each other about important issues. Core, fundamental issues that are critical for us to understand if we care about building a sustainable, healthy future for ourselves. The fundamental problem is that our global economic system is unsustainable and unfit for human health and prosperity. It is crazy how few people understand this, yet the evidence is everywhere. This news story should be an obvious one. In this world today, there is no technical reason for poverty or homelessness. None. Think about that. Not a single reason why any human being should not have the decency of a shelter, with basic modern conveniences, and adequate food and water. But, yet we have poverty all over the world that is devastating to our overall health. Why? Because market capitalism is not about health and sustainability. It is about maximizing profit, competitive self-interest and infinite growth. Those are toxic demands that clearly cause more problems to erupt and get worse. We've been lied to. The real owners, the small percentage of people with enormous wealth, control most of the media, and property so they try to dictate what we focus on, what we talk about, what we learn and what we say. Being a free human should be the freedom from labor-for-income because there is no technical reason for exploitation of people to meet profit goals. Now, I hope people can follow this and engage in civil discussion.
@@rayhann8626 Since your comment is very vague and not specific, it seems you have some gaps in knowledge about the subjects I'm talking about. But, if you think something I said is incorrect, go ahead, say what it is. I'll discuss it.
@@coolioso808 Thank you for pointing out what most people miss. I believe people don't realize that our society is living in the following world: Profits over People. It's overwhelming to see the amount of poverty there is around the world and how governments and big businesses could fix it.
@@mytgurlSW Very true. I've been inspired by seeing Jacque Fresco talk about a Resource Based Economy and Peter Joseph on furthering those ideas and train of thought in Zeitgeist: Moving Forward. When you look at it, technically, our current society is absurdly inefficient and unhealthy. We can do much, much, MUCH better if we reject the notion that we have to be servants to money. Money is man-made. It isn't real. It isn't naturally occurring. It served a purpose for a period of time in history, but is has LONG past been useful for a healthy, sustainable world. Like any organism that wants to survive, we have to evolve. We need to evolve social systems, beyond market capitalism and towards something like a resource-based economy. Enough of this toxic monetary-system we live in.
I am on odsp myself, and while I am lucky to be able to rent a room, after the storm outage I went so hungry I fear I might commit if it doesn't get better...
You see it. Dignity isn't part of capitalism, neither is sustainability or health. Market capitalism is a sick system that is the root problem we need to address. Few people are talking about it. You won't hear it on mainstream media because that is owned by the top capitalists of our world. Truth is truth, however, and science is science - we can't live like this much longer with this cloud of propaganda that puts people in such dire straits that they are so busy, hardly able to even comprehend the root cause of our shared oppression and exploitation. I hope that people, when hearing reason and logic, truth and honesty, will gravitate towards those ideas and help be part of a positive revolution, a re-invention of our economy to end oppression and build a sustainable, healthy future.
This is why people lose faith in politicians and their empty promises. I will never vote for a politician who isn't focused on increasing ODSP rates. They don't deserve our votes!!!
Canada has committed a total of $3.4 billion in assistance to Ukraine so far this year, including $1.95 billion in loans to help meet Ukraine’s urgent balance of payments needs and support its macroeconomic stability….. we, Canadians are in need of support. Imagine what this could do for housing, delivery of goods, tax reductions, veterans, the homeless, those on disability receiving a little over $1200 a month….
Total BS. Rich democracies always help the world. We help our own less fortunate far more than average, but the world needs help too. What do you think we're going to do, be the only the only democracy in the world to not help in need. We are G7 nation, your greed is appalling. Ukraine is on the front of fighting for the world's democracies, and all western countries should be supporting them like the US does.
I have no problems helping others in need, but help your people first…. I know people on disability receiving $1300mth to survive, but…. President Zelenskyy declared “the beginning of the end of the war” and Canada has committed to sending Ukraine $500 million more in military aid.
Helping out a few more - at the G20 summit in Indonesia, Trudeau says the private sector needs to help governments abroad build schools and hospitals. He is pledging $750 million in financing for infrastructure projects in Asia, administered by a Crown corporation. How far will this PM continue putting a country with only 37mil to in debt while people are losing their homes, can’t afford gas and/or food, while he jet sets around the world in his private jet dumping hundreds of pounds of pollutants into the skies all while staying in glamours $6000 night hotels around the world …

I don't have 12-15 years. I want to live but can't afford to and I won't survive the streets with my illness. I use to be a full time hard working mom with a career that took my kids camping and volunteered at their school and through out the community. I loss my health suddenly. If your healthy be grateful. You can lose everything overnight. The healthy wear a crown only the sick can see. I'm now facing death and I'm so scared.

I am thinking of creating a service for these people where they can live in Thailand, where 1200 a month is enough to live on. But this should not be the only solution for those many elderly that do not have much money put away. They should be able to afford to live in their own country. I know i will not be retiring in Canada, as i can not afford it.
Mexico is also a place that people are retiring to. I know 2 that have and more thinking about it. The East coast used to be a retirement destination because it was much cheaper than larger Canadian cities. Not anymore. Collinwood is a fortune as it became popular unless you already have a winter place there. Mission, B.C pop. 32,000 where there isn't any employment is showing $2,200 for a 2 bedroom apt. In addition, out lying areas are not close to any health care facilities should there be an emergency.
There can be many issues with your suggestions, though for one, I doubt programs like ODSP will continue to support them outside the province, let alone the country or continent.
As a disabled resident in Ontario, I feel like our current government (FORD) is hoping people will feel hopeless and desperate enough to consider MAID. We're simply not worthy of any empathy. I have never felt my life more threatened living in Canada as I do now.
I don't have to imagine, I know exactly how he feels. There are a lot of seniors feeling exactly the same way. Worked all our lives and can't afford to live in our own country. Especially if your on your own (widow/widower) Sharing accommodation with a stranger is not the answer for everyone.
This will be the average human experience going forward. Think about how bad these problems will be when the people who are now 0 - 40 reach retirement age.
It's crazy what we've allowed to happen in our society today. We live in an anti-economical system. Market capitalism is unhealthy, unsustainable and unfit for human dignity and the sustainability of life support systems on Earth. A cancerous system causes devastating problems seen the world over. We can't spend much more time refusing to engage in important discussions. We can gain solidarity around truth and a set of common values. What do we want? Do we want a sustainable, healthy society where we aren't treated like slaves and forced to labor-for-income for survival on this planet while we know we have the technology to end poverty once and for all? There is NO reason for poverty, technically speaking. Poverty is the worst form of violence if you look at all the ripple effects. We invented a game as humans that mathematically guarantees vast numbers of people in poverty, or poor, food-and-housing insecure situations. Why? So that a very small group of people can be come stupidly more wealthy. Where are the common sense people who see how ridiculous this system is and want something better? I know some are out there, but it would be good to know more people are waking up.
And healthcare as we knew it is slipping away to paid for service. Some of what used to be covered by OHIP is no longer. A move toward a tiered healthcare system has been in the works for 10 plus years and it has already begun. Soon, we are to be like the US where you need money to be cared for. Dental care has never been free.
Higher taxes will be needed to pay for a liveable ODSP and CPP, and no one wants higher taxes. So there you go, it's not the government, it's the people who don't insist on this and are unwilling to pay for the taxes to get it done.
Most Homeless people dont want to fit into society they dont like paying Bill's or being on time for appointments they checked out of society. They want to go "camping".
Then buckle up and enjoy the little things in life. There's food, music, sports, games, the outdoors, natural beauty, etc. Psychiatrists can help you get out of your predicament. Mother Nature was never fair to begin with -- take action, accept the cards that were given to you, and work your way through life.

Nope. MAID exists in multiple other countries. Canada actually has had MAID since 2016. The majority of people who use it are cancer patients with very low likelihood of living. Next is people with heart disease and respiratory illnesses.

I was homeless when I was a toddler. My mother wanted to die, too. I felt that when I was little...death and homelessness. I know how he feels and this hurts me so much. I am so sorry, Amir.
This is because Canada is not building affordable housing. Even able-bodied people who are employed are being thrown out on the street because of rising rents. People thinking of immigrating to Canada should decide against it.
This isn’t an attack on disabled people. Quit portraying it as such. It simply means a person with severe disability that they feel make their own life very hard to live and don’t have anyone to care for them or they don’t want to burden anyone with having to take care of them, it gives them an option. They deserve that right. There’s too much twisting and complaining about rights but people aren’t taking into consideration the right of the disabled person who may not want to live. They shouldn’t be forced to live if they don’t want to.
@@Liberal_From_Prairies689 It could become that. My 83 year old mother got a new Nurse Practitioner, the new Nurse gave her a DNR (do not resuscitate) form, my Mom was under the understanding that she could choose the circumstances, she brought the form home, my sister and I looked it over and explained the form was, they would not resuscitate her if she had any condition. I personally believe the government wants to get rid of the elderly they do not want then using healthcare and the pensions they paid for I hope and pray this elderly gentleman does not allow them to end his life
He is 52 years old, not exactly elderly. Secondly, he is choosing MAID. I do recognize your compassion, however what is his alternative? Are you going to house and feed him for free?
It’s a misunderstanding. Everyone, regardless of their age, will be asked whether they want to be resuscitated (e.g. receiving CPR if their heart stops) when they go to any hospital. Individuals can choose DNR if that’s their wish. For example, they think their quality of life will be very poor if they are resuscitated. It’s healthcare providers duty to follow patients’ wishes, especially in situations where patients themselves can’t answer (e.g. being in coma). If they want to be resuscitated, they will get it. MAiD is different.
I got really hurt while working here in B.C.. WCB won't listen to my case. I can't wait for over a year for double knee surgery as i cant stand or work any longer. @@rayhann8626 There are many good and better options. When you see others having a better quality of life elsewhere, then you know better can be done. A mindset of zero options is not wise. Only the wealthy elite are happy here and if you're not in that tier of society, life is miserable.
Neoliberalism at work. Don't just blame it all on MAID, either. I'm American, and I've known people who have toyed with the idea of suicide to avoid the terrifying prospect of homelessness for too many years (decades) to believe this is a result of euthanasia laws alone. Even without MAID, the desperate poor would still resort to death to escape an unbearable and unvalued life. Just by more painful or violent means. Unbridled capitalism is the root cause--that's the reason society has become a machine that values human beings only as much as they can be productive workers making the rich richer. And the rich are miserly to the extreme in this system, too: They want to squeeze as much work as possible from the worker while paying them as little as possible, to the point where many people can barely afford to survive anymore. THIS is what's shameful. But of course, the overworked and overwhelmed majority is brainwashed even by the media that they consume--to escape mentally from an almost feudalistic, seemingly inescapable serfdom--to believe that equitable redistribution of wealth will morph uncontrollably into the bogeyman of communism. As if there's no spectrum to economics. Daring to take a few steps Left of capitalism to create a humane society where the poor aren't trying to off themselves to escape homelessness is not going to plop us down into some hyped up communist bogeyman nightmare, for crying out loud. There's a looooooooong middle ground to work with. If only we can muster the courage and independence to try. And while we're at it, we need to stop letting foreigners gobble up our properties and jack up rent to ridiculously high levels. A lot of that money is going straight across the pond to enrich other countries while our own are bled dry.
The problem is, is that Canada does not have a reasonable amount of social services available to keep a person housed. Disability Pensions and / or ODSP don't even cover the rental rate for a 1 bedroom apartment in Ontario any more, let alone the other additional costs of dealing with a disability. I know, if I were in the same situation, I would be looking for Medical Assisted Death as well.
With high prices and massive housing shortages and the health care system crumbling how does it make sense to bring in thousands of unskilled, poor illegal immigrants who need low income housing, health care and support? This makes no sense when people here are killing themselves because thet atr poor and can't get housing
I. Know personally if 5 people under 30 who are considering maid due to their disability and being below the poverty line without a home to call their own due to the odsp payouts. They see it as having no choice.
Canada has let this happen, and ignored the obvious for years. It is embarrassing. Its Feb. 2024 and everything has doubled in price. Corruption has left many feeling hopeless. Even if things it get better, we have a mental health problem in or country create by greed and neglect. Its always the individuals fault and not the governments, or those that sat and watched it happen.
you know your country is in huge trouble when they start offering you MAID as a way out , if any doctor offered me this solution he would not be practicing medicine anymore, we treat animals better than our people, let's hope the next government is more compassionate than this one, stop spending money elsewhere and focus on your people
The only thing worse than allowing this individual to die, would be forcing him into homelessness and a near-certain and very aguish filled demise on the streets or shuttling between shelters in the winter. Bottom line, people need to be allowed to make the ultimate choice, but governments should never set this up as a cost saving measure. We need more budget for social services, including a subsidy housing credit, that pays the difference between your housing costs and 25% of your income (what housing costs should be), for those who are economically and socially vulnerable. Such a subsidy would alleviate the shortage of subsidized housing units, since any unit could then effectively qualify and serve as one.
Well said, as a personal counselor I assist people along the journey to suicide. The death pods we use at our establishment are very economical in that the also serve as a coffin. This makes it easy and convenient for all.
The utter failure of liberalism, death as a replacement or fix for the failures of liberalized welfare and medicare in one of the worlds highest taxed nations. Something isnt adding up anymore. Might be worth an expose on the liberal effect on Canada's ability to care for Canadians of all ages, im talking real care not years long wait lists, not free safe fentaynl supplies, but care real care and affordable housing to live safe and healthy lives in.
This is a very disturbing story. I've had the unpleasant task of dealing with MAiD when my mother was diagnosed with a neurological disorder which progressed quickly and rendered her unable to care for herself. What shocked me more than anything is that this man's doctor actually signed off on his request to die with dignity. I understand why he chose this option but he clearly said he did not want to die. His doctor should have never signed off on this and referred him to mental health services asap (depending on where you live, it could take several months which doesn't help either). This is society's failure of caring for their own. And this is a clear message to the governments across Canada that Canadians need them now more than ever. And whoever is this man's doctor, he needs to be held accountable.
@@basemkhalil610 I agree. Far better that people have MAID as an option rather than forcing them down the DIY route. IF the DIY method fails, the person's life could be even worse if they then cannot communicate well enough to request MAID.
I agree that this is a very sad situation. And this person shouldn't have been put in this situation where they can potentially face poverty, and they chose to die instead. It is very sad. But I don't think the doctor is in the wrong. If the doctor referred him to mental health services, that can be helpful, but that won't solve the problem of poverty and this person not being able to afford a home. Canada must ensure that all disabled people are provided for and get enough money to meet their needs (food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, etc.). If this person had enough money to guarantee housing for themselves, they wouldn't chose the option of MAiD. So the problem is that our society doesn't give enough money to disabled people.
@@Autumn572 just to clarify when I say held accountable I mean that they should be taking ethical training and any of these requests should be supervised. Why does it bother me so much? Because that doctor took an oath to save people lives, not take them. What upsets the most is that everyone sees this as sad. What I see is a chance for a doctor to save a life and didn't. The doctor didn't even refer his patient to mental health services (not redundant but almost considering the backlog). I'm a socialist, I believe capitalist have broken the world. And Canada's social system is broken. I'moving to Norway in 5 years.
@@mytgurlSW I understand but I think is that even if the doctor gave him mental health therapy, he would still need to solve his housing problem and prevent him from being homeless. Because the reason why this person wanted to get euthanasia is because they are about to lose their housing. So I think the only way for the doctor to save this person would be if he provided permanent housing for him. If that makes sense. I understand what you’re saying about capitalism and the system in Canada :( I think that Norway has a better system to live in.
This is a heart wrenching subject. Many who opt for MAID are in constant pain. Their prognoses is very grim. Their quality of life is dire. With much sympathy you can see the rationale behind such a choice-less “choice”. But if even one person, like this man, opts for MAID because of his economic status then it’s 100% unjustifiable, and resides squarely on the shoulders of our government - it has $1B to finance a war while this man fights to keep from becoming homeless.
Exactly, I mean I'm from Switzerland, we have a medically assisted death system for decades. But we look for the poor and disabled people, especially for the latter so they don't have to opt for dying. This here seems sad and unreal.
Those quote unquote homeless people kicked out of parks are violent criminals addicted to drugs. Educate yourself. In those little encampments in parks, they have weapons, they conceal dangerous objects that can be used as weapons, they terrorize and threaten people, they have drug parties, it’s not so cut and dry as “they’re innocent homeless people, we need to help.” Some don’t want the help. In Vancouver for instance, people on the sidewalks in tents were offered housing, they refused it and would rather invade sidewalks so they can do their hard drugs, have drug parties and live with junk the hoard. They’re mentally unstable and should be in asylum but the advocates, who are completely uneducated push to do whatever they want. This issue should be clear. Every life is of value and we need to do better as a society to promote this. What is happening in Canada is appalling. Euthanasia is NOT medical care, it’s assisting the suicide of individuals. It’s saying “yes your life is hopeless, suicide is the only answer” We’ve redefined words here to suite. It’s not a positive medical good. Who values a human life? And if you say the person, then why restrict it at all? Why should it end at mental illness? Why should it be restricted to ages? Why does a Doctor or Nurse be forced to take life?
Yes. My concern with this is that we are going to develop an attitude of essential and non-essential living, like we did with workers during the pandemic. "Do you really need to be alive, Mr. Jones? What purpose do you serve?" It could potentially give 'retirement' a new meaning if goes far enough.

Best comment. I never imagined life circumstances could have these outcomes in a developed country. While I am young, I need to make a home elsewhere as I am afraid to be sick, poor or something else, lest I be forced to die. Nothing good could come out of this and Canadians should be nipping MAID in the bud fast. It's become the alternative to "tough times". That's my cue to get outta here.🏃♂🏃♀🏃🏃♂🏃♀

I can tell you've never had to deal with severe mental illness or a painfull disease. How nice for you. No one has the right to tell me that I should suffer and I do have the right to end my life bc of this program. There does need to be changes so that ppl don't live in poverty, but connecting this program to somehow suggest we're getting rid of ppl that are poor is misleading at best.
Canadians and their previous generations who paid lifetimes worth of taxes are forced to apply for MAID to avoid homelessness while “economic migrants” are put into hotels and various government agencies make sure that all of their housing, food, medical, dental, prescriptions, entertainment, social, and all various other financial needs are all looked after. Btw, when you have to spend an extra $20 on every tank of gas and your groceries and various other goods are an extra 20-40% more expensive, just think about the massive difference you’re making to the climate. You might be broke and broken but at least the weather is apparently better than it would have been if you paid less taxes… Let that sink in.
It's a disgrace and an abomination that people in Canada with disabilities are thinking death is better than their living situation! Where is our compassion to help those less fortunate? The govt will waste money on foolishness instead of helping people like this gentleman. I pray he finds a place to live so he doesn't end his life. 🙏✝️
Just imagine a society that normalizes death as the alternative to sickness, poverty and incapacitation. Time to get out of here because at some point, most average Canadians experience either one, two or all 3 of these conditions.
This man isn't valued though otherwise he would receive free healthcare and housing instead he's given the option to die instead. Communist revolution when?
my goodness ......"even if you are sick or disabled......don't choose death" spoken by someone who sounds like they are neither........why is death NOT a valid personal option?
Shocking that someone in our country with such medical challenges should be pushed to contemplate MAID because of the lack of affordable housing, that’s truly affordable housing. What has gone wrong with our society were housing, food and other necessities of life are out of reach of many Canadians?
Disabled Canadians especially need rent relief and affordable housing. It's a must. They shouldn't have to consider MAID. This should be a wakeup call to all politicians. Spend funding on HUMANITY, not infrastructure!!!
Im a disabled albertan and i feel his pain each day, if i could get maid i would. Its because i have one friend that has to finicially help me so i eat normally since 80% of my disability insurance and wage go to just paying for a place to live
This is beyond sad as I face this now to with my Lyme disease n I have no family or friends n I’m stuck in my Rv n bedridden over 15 yrs n suffering makes no sense but I feel all I am is a Marty
In USA I was in a 12 car pile up. Hit 4 times. DOA announced by 3people in snowy mountains. I remember my last breath then it was euphoric but, somebody had to earn their badge that day and here I am against my will. Now disability pays me $207 a month but they cover my medical bills to keep me alive?!! smh ! Not enough to live on
I worry for my future, I already have back pain that affects me and the hours I can work in a day. I don’t know how I’ll cope once I can’t work anymore. This worries me already
This news story has shocked all Canadians and has made us worry. ODSPoverty is real! The ODSP program is failing, and Ford must do something NOW to increase the rates and make housing affordable!!
This is horrible. He straight up said he still wants to be here. Absolutely shameful. The economic/housing crisis Canada has encouraged over the past 6yrs is directly killing people. Good people are dying due to incompetence, and it’s made the incompetence turn into evil. I’ve never said this in hopes things weren’t so dire but Trudeau and his friends have got to go. They’ve done enough.
The fact that this program is expanding to more cases, is disgusting. This government is a sham, a joke, and Canadians will cheer when it's taken out if office. My fellow Canadians, we must do better
And the CONs will increase supports for the poor??? 😅🤣😂😅🤣😂 OMG, are you that gullible? It'll be WORSE under the CONs. Sure, they'll take MAID away, but they won't supply more social housing, etc for the poor. Nope. Just tax cuts for the rich and upper classes while people like this get thrown out on the street with zero options.
Coming to the United States soon here.. wait until they start doing that in the United States..thousands of people are going to be on the list..handicap people anybody with a disability..they don't care how small the disability is..elderly people over sixty they don't care if these people still work..homeless people are going to be on the list..I've been hearing rumors that they plan on doing it to people..I ran into an article using the library computer already speaking about it.. play are just going to wait for it to come to the United States
@@dawnmorris466 the program will not be voluntary eventually it's going to be mandatory.. have you ever heard of agenda 21 depopulation of people.. they want as many people dead by the year 2030 as possible.. even the Georgia Guidestones spoke about getting rid of people before the stones were blown up.. I have known the evil since the 90s.. but nobody would listen to me.. not without calling me crazy a conspiracy theorist a.. that I need to be locked into a mental institution.. friends and family.. even threatening to do it.. considering what is going on around us right now as I speak maybe I'm not so crazy anymore.. and they are starting with the homeless people no one cares because they are homeless.. well guess what be that can happen to anyone at any moment..
I live or exist in the US. I wish I had at least a chance to ask for aid to die because I have no hope of quality of life. Decades of mental health treatment has become harmful rather than helpful and I have made attempts many times to end my life because I was so afraid of the life I now am trapoed living. I have shelter not fit for habitation and everyday is a serious struggle to have water, power enough to charge my phone. I struggle to get rides to purchase propane to keep warm or to buy food. I rarely have an oppurtunity to use a 😢restroom or shower. I live in a feild full of garbage and ants crawl through my hair and face when I lay down.. I worry abought getting basic needs even while getting them because it is never ending need and uncertainty abought being able to get them again. I lost a life long friend to complications of being homeless as he died from living in a tent and not being able maintain his core temperature after to many hours of not being able to warm up. It wasn't even freezing at night and it doesn't have to be that cold to losevyour life from constant being damp in well above freezing weather. Summer is not much safer if you have no shade near by. I don't bunderstand why people think it is wrong if you want to stop suffering it is life threatening anyway and more so for older homeless people. There isn't enough housing to help the amount of people that need it. Is it human for us to suffer to death? I don't want to live like this and from having to even if I were housed I don't want to live in a world like this or with the citizens or government that hasn't cared or done much to prevent or improve the situations that cause this to happen. I think this guy is better off if he gets to use maid. I wouldn't want him to feel how this feels or for him to go through the process it takes to get to the point of ending your own life. It takes guts to battle the human bio instinct to survive. It has to he planned as impulse will end in a failed attempt. I have to set this in motion to make this end and I am angry I can't ask to have assistance to have peace instesd of anxiety and fear I have to concure to escape living with life qualiyy below zero. It is suffering and I feel it is comparable to any physical pain I have had and worse really for me. I hurt in everyway and dead everyday and everthing I do and no longer enjoy anything at all. I wush I were Canadian.
Well it's pretty sad that our government lets us live on the streets and be hungry.. It cost money to stay alive.. What has this world come to?? It is a much easier way out than to be miserable and and be hungry and live on the street.. Not only is it dangerous,, really takes your dignity away so that you feel you amount to nothing.. What a way for your brain to pick you apart when you have nothing to look forward to. Some people don't have families,, or even ones that care,, When you're alone in this world things are much different and looked at in a totally different way...
Lonely men like me with no friends and no wife will have to eventually choose this. Honestly life feels like a chore. I never had any deep connections and never really feel like genuine to me. I hope it does not hurt so much, and I think God will understand.
Bro life as a man is hard. Especially as an average man in this day and age. When if feels like the whole of weatern society is against men but there is always somthing to live for. Join a gym, take up a hobby, get a dog and go for walks, get a better job (there are jobs everywhere right now because people dont want to work hard) you will meet people who share your intrests even if its just one or 2 bros. I understand it can feel hopeless but life is worth living
@Brown Incel dude, there are so many jobs out there right now . #1 Get a better job #2 get some Hobbies, get a dog, you will meet some bros who have the same intrests as you. And never let women define who you are. You cant atract a woman untill you make somthing of yourself plain and simple I know life is hard and it feels like society is against men but we as men must overcome. Even if you never find a woman a few good bros can make life worth living
l moved to my current address in 2007. Since then the rents in Ontario have *skyrocketed* so that l can not afford to move ever again. l'm lucky, l pay $960. a month for a decent apartment with parking. l might be able to rent a single room for that that price now. When l turn 65 next October, my income will decrease to about 1700. per mth. l have disabling arthritis and mental health problems l might be in this man's situation. Our health care system in Canada, including mental health care, is broken. Living is not affordable for a high % of people. Our charter of rights and freedoms is in shatters. *Canada is broken*
Welcome to the government of canadas mental health and suicide hotline, your call is important to us, due to high call volumes, your call will be redirected to the MAID program, please hold..
I believe in the freedom to choose. But this man doesn't have the freedom to choose in his mind. He understands that he will suffer greatly living in Canada in a tent.He needs so much support to live. But Canada is putting immigrants above our own people. Immigrants are homeless its a shame..But our country is also homeless. It says in the bible..self preservation comes first...You take care of your own people before taking care of others..😢😢😢
At $1200 a month you can't even afford to pay rent. I would like to see the policy makers live on that. Most people on ODSP don't choose to be on ODSP, circumstance puts them in that position. All options leave little to be desired.
I’m on AISH (Alberta’s disability payment thing which is ~1700 / month) & it’s extremely difficult to find affordable rent here in Calgary (especially for places which allow pets (which I need for emotional support)).
@@JadenTapscott I feel for you. I have basically the same problem in Ontario and have been forced to live in some extremely undesirable places. It's no way to live, quite often the thought of suicide has been an option. You are ill and forced to live in substandard situations. Who wants that?
We have enough recourses and money to supply every person in the world with basic needs to survive yet we rather have an exploitable system that creates billionaires & luxury items instead because of our greed and selfishness
i'm 21 years old working 40 hours a week barely making minimum wage trying to pay overpriced rent and dealing with a girlfriend who is probably cheating on me, honestly i am debating it seems nice to get it over with.
Canada's homeless rates are out of control , the government won't do a thing to combat this huge problem except open the flood gate to others escaping their countries . My girlfriend escaped her country to come to Canada and I am humbled by her when I hear what she went through . I'm sorry but she wasn't handed a house like others were. When she came here, if it wasn't for her church , who knows what would have happened . But enough is enough , Canada has to start taking care of those residing here and stop collecting VOTES to stay in office. You couldn't change my mind as to why Canadian immigration is what it is ever, it's completely motivated by votes , nothing at all to do with humanitarian need... It makes me sick ... The fact that this man is choosing death over life because he's fallen through the cracks of a system that's motivated by one thing is reprehensible.. Our own Minister of Immigration told CBC we need 500.000 new immigrates a year to fill the void necessary for Canada to move forward ? Forward means wiping those who can't keep up off the system , plain and simple. It's no wonder why they have designated this era as the " ME ERA" .
I'm as left wing as they come, and I agree 100%. Millions of Indians and Middle East have flooded this country to the brink, drawn here by what.. our 6 months of winter!? I'm all for helping refugees, but we need country QUOTAS and we need them NOW!
