@sum body actually at low levels they can be decent for Spellcasters if you want to take a lot of non-combat cantrips like Mage Hand, Message, Minor Illusion, Light, etc. If you have +2 DEX (which is probably just about everyone not wearing heavy armour) they do 1d4+2 damage. That's got an equal mean to 1d8, with lower varience. I legitimately think that that's worth getting one extra powerful roleplay cantrip. At my table we have slings doing 1d6 with 40/60 range anyway, since they were so much better IRL. If you're doing that then you've got an even better reason to take one. I'd never pick Firebolt over a sling.

Magic stone + sling = sneak attack on a cantrip. But you might as well just use a short bow.

It's kind of a minor ability, but depending on how you use it, it can have a significant effect on the battlefield. Plus, who wouldn't want some extra force pushes and pulls?

​@@Galen876 I've had the pleasure to play a character with telekinetic in a situation where the enemy had the high ground and I have to say that they didn't have it much longer. Overall an extra attack with the bonus is generally better, but you don't really lose a lot in that trade-off. Moreover, it helps flavour some subclasses if you have plans to play them but the starting level is too low.

i want telekinetic on the aberrant mind sorc. their telepathy is better than the telepathic feat but they need the telekinetic feat. especially since almost everyone now will be wanting to start with an 18 in cha now so they need a half feat

Seeing as Wizards generally don't have much they can do as a bonus action, Telekinetic seems like a great option. Aside from using it defensibly, you can potentially use it to nudge an extra creature into place before casting an damage AOE spell, or push them into an active effect on the battlefield (Wall of Fire, Prismatic Wall, Blade Barrier etc.), or off the edge of a building/cliff. Not to mention, having an invisible and/or 30 extra range on Mage Hand has tons of potential uses. Honestly this is a good pick for any character lacking bonus action options.

The Chef feat is so wonderfully flavorful! It gives you something like a Song of Rest and False Life through food. I don't have a character that would go for it right now, but when that happens I'll definitely take it.

The real devil in the details in Fey Touched is that it lets you poach Dunamancy spells. It DOES NOT specify that it has to be from a class list, and just says it needs to be Enchantment/Divination. Gift of Alacrity is Divination.

@sum body wild shape rules allow for use of weapons if the new form can wield them. I would argue an elemental might be able too or a monkey too. Imagine flying monkey wielding 2 scimitars with dual wielding fighting style

@sum body "You retain the benefit of any features from your class, race, or other source and can use them if the new form is physically capable of doing so." Taking the feat requires proficiency with a martial weapon, but doesn't say anything about needing to be wielding one while using the feat, and there is no rule that says not having hands makes you lose your proficiency with something. If you took a fighting style Unarmed Fighting it should work perfectly fine as a humanoid or as a bear. Now Blind Fighting might be weird. "However, you can't use any of your Special Senses, such as Darkvision, unless your new form also has that sense." This seems like it would negate the blindsight, even though the blindsight isn't a feature granted by your biology but instead by training. I would personally allow it anyway, but I think RAW is against this unless one considers the fighting style to supersede wildshape as being more specific.

Telekinetic and Arcane Trickster is an interesting combination. You can pick locks, pick pockets, and interact at 60 feet rather than 30 as there is no maximum range listed in Ranged Legerdemain. So being able to pick a lock from 60 feet away seems fun.

It’s alright, but that’s a pretty niche problem to have. And the telekinesis push competes with all the other bonus actions that the Rogue gets. I think telekinetic is a must have wizard feat.

@@seanjardine3128 The other thing a rogue can do is use the telekinetic push/pull to arrange to get sneak attack if someone is just out of position. This is on top of positioning for spells if you are an Arcane Trickster. It also allows the rogue to escape from sentinel as you can push them away then move while disengage could potentially get you trapped and have your movement set to 0. Also it gives you a trick to save party members as a rogue is not in it alone. Disengage is great but if you can pull an enemy off your healer to extend their life, even better.

The weird thing about the "Proficiency with a Martial Weapon" requirement is that all classes except Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard can meet that requirement. Bards have Rapiers, druids have scimitars, martial clerics typically have martial weapons, and even classes like the Monk or Rogue get Shortswords. Ironically however, the caster that most likely wants this feat is the Warlock, who can use a martial weapon as though they were proficient is not technically so.

If you're counting more martial Clerics then Bladesingers and Hexblades for Wizard and Warlock also meet it. And technically Sorcerers if you count the dead Stone Sorcerer UA

@@neoman4426 Sure, but any warlock can use a Greatsword and charge into battle. They don't have to be a Hexblade. It also means the only class in the game without martial weapons is the sorcerer in official print.

I'm currently playing a bard, and while I really wanted subtle spell to make my illusions and enchantments more potent in social situations, I was reluctant to take three level dip in sorcerer just for that purpose. Being able to take Metamagic Adept is incredibly appealing - I can get the feature that I really wanted, without slowing down my class progression. I like it a lot.

@@lord6617 well not exactly with this you can ONLY use these to add the metamagic to the spell. There is no exchanging the point for another spell slot. There is no exchanging the points for other perks.

@@lord6617 with subtle, yes. everything else? not for a long time in combat. one quicken or a lvl2 twin or 2 empowered spells. it's not as excessive as sorcerers can do. but yeah, the best metamagic (subtle) now is available for everyone. but honestly, i like that. metagmagic in 3.5 was something for skilled spellcasters. so also wizards. i like, that they can get back abit of their former glory.

The PHB specifically says that if you are asked to divide or multiply your proficiency bonus, you can only do it once no matter how many features you have that are acting at any given time. Therefore, doubling your proficiency bonus and Expertise can't stack and Expertise can't stack with itself. From Chapter 7 of the Basic Rules, under Proficiency Bonus: Occasionally, your proficiency bonus might be multiplied or divided (doubled or halved, for example) before you apply it. For example, the rogue’s Expertise feature doubles the proficiency bonus for certain ability checks. If a circumstance suggests that your proficiency bonus applies more than once to the same roll, you still add it only once and multiply or divide it only once.

In response to the comment about Jeremy Crawford saying people weren't interested in new feats... I feel like people are overlooking how much of the UA that made it into Tasha's felt like a response to the release of Pathfinder 2.0. The optional class variants and feats seemingly made it more similar to aspects that were present in Pathfinder in terms of character customization.

The best Eldritch adept choice to make is "devil's sight" Its not 120 dark vision. It's 120 normal (bright light) vision in darkness and magic darkness.

My favorite feat is Fey Touched because you get the ability bonus, Misty Step (which combines get with Find Familiar), as well as another good spell such as Hex or Hunter’s Mark! 👍🏻

Fey touched is probably the best feat for any multiattacking melee classes that don't get spells or a short range teleport. Hex or hunters mark on a character that makes 2 to 4 attacks each round and probably prioritized constitution. No question. I don't think I'd ever make a monk and not eventually take fey touched and crusher.

Telekinetic seems really good. It gives you something to always be doing with your bonus action and can be used to push targets into terrain hazards (and more importantly disengage your fellow PC's if they need to move). I'm imagining a well placed Sleet Storm and just constantly forcing the enemies back into it while letting a few trickle out to be cleaned up by the rest of the party.

Telekinetic is great. The fact that the bonus action ability doesn't have a limit on the amount of times you can do it is nuts and it seems really strong to me.

I certainly like the Slasher/Crusher/Piercer feats as they help push characters to take up weapons beyond swords. Many times, it's a sword you'll see, at least in my instances at the table. The Gunner feat, when a player asked about using guns years ago, I suggested just taking the crossbow feat as it made the most sense and worked more or less the same to the feat we have now. All of the feats are pretty great with some better than others but they're all going to be situational. Shoot, even the cooking feat is situational and could be a key feat to take in the right campaign.

My favorite feat is the eldrich one. While you can’t get all the good ones, it enables people to get devils sight and utility spells (mage armor, detect magic, etc) at will.

The disguise self at will invocation would be ideal for a character who needs to avoid the authorities. And combined with the Friends cantrip shenanigans could ensue.

I hate it specifically because of that, it's devaluing Warlock that all of those things are just the "cost" of a feat now, with no investment into the class whatsoever.

If anyone wants some more comments on what the feats can do, and how they might be useful on different characters, then this is the place to go. Feel free to add comments as well! I will not be commenting on all of them, just the ones I like the most, but thats still a lot of them. Crusher: Great for monks, if you ask me. Of course this is great on any character that uses Bludgeoning attacks, but there is just something about the ability to push something back when you make an attack with unarmed strikes. The critical ability is also good here, because monks make so many attack rolls, and its very thematic, as it is very similar to Open Hand Technique, that the Way of the Open Hand gets. Even better if you have an odd constitution score! Eldritch Adept: Great for Warlocks. Its not the best on other classes, as a lot of the invocations have requirements, in which case you have to be a Warlock, so Agonizing Blast is out of the picture. Still amazing for Warlocks, and possibly for characters with a race that doesn't have darkvision, to get Devils Sight. This is also really good on an Arcane Trickster, for the unlimited Disguise Self, with Mask of Many Faces, or for an Abjuration Wizard, who can fill of their arcane ward for free, with Mage Armor, from the Armor of Shadows invocation. Fey Touched: This feat is just great for wide variety of classes. I would say its probably best on a fighter or monk, because of the spells it allows you to cast, though its probably best for fighter, and even better for an Eldritch Knight. The Hex spell is of the enchantment school, and Hunters Mark is divination. A d6 to all damage roll for a minute? Plus a bonus action teleport? yes plz, and its also extra spells known for an Eldritch Knight. Bless is another good one, if you want a d4 to your attack and saves (its an enchantment spell). Also good for a Bard, Sorcerer, or Warlock, who all don't get a lot of spells known. Meta Magic Adept: Obviously good on any caster, but just like Eldritch Adept, its best on a Sorcerer. Two extra meta magic options, and to extra points? Ill take it! Piercer: Plus one to strength or dex, plus a little buff to your damage output is great. The critical ability is just like the Half Orcs, or the Barbarians Brutal Critical. This also stacks with Brutal Critical, If you are using a spear, or even better a Pike, since it has the Heavy feature, so you can combine it with Great Weapon Master. Again, even better if you have an odd Strength or Dex score! Shadow Touched: A very thematic feat. This is the Fey Touched for Arcane tricksters. Invisibility, and a free illusion or necromancy spell like Disguise Self. This is also great for Bards and Sorcerer, as well as Warlocks, since these are spells you probably want anyways, and they don't get a lot of spells known. Like all half feats, its great for when you have an odd casting score. Slasher: In my opinion, this feat isn't as good as Crusher or Piercer, but still vary viable for a Fighter or Barbarian who wants to encourage enemies to stay in melee. Makes criticals even more brutal than they already are, and +1 to strengt or dex. Still a pretty decent Feat! Telekinetic: I feel like this steps a little bit too far on the Arcane Tricksters territory, but makes mage hand even better, especially for the Arcane trickster. Great video Ted, though I would have like a few more comments on some of the feats, but maybe thats just me. And again, I would love to turn this into an opportunity to talk about the possibilities of these feats, so all input is encouraged!

it’s mainly a playstyle thing, if you’re a dex build then the bludgeoning feat might not be that good for you, if you’re a gith then the telekinetic feat might not be that beneficial, etc. Since there’s so many builds out there, it’d probs turn this 18 min video into 30+ just by saying which feats would be beneficial or detrimental for whatever builds there are lol

I literally designed my own feats for bludgeoning/slashing/piercing just before reading there were designs for them in the new source book. I'm really glad they've done this, because weapon choice was never something that had to be considered in D&D due to being a fairly solved concept. It'd be like having no real choices in spell options because there are always 'Tier 1' spells, with everything falling well below that. Now with these feats, you have to consider what kind of weapon you're using. The only difference in my design however, was the ability to swap out one of the three feats (Crusher/Slasher/Piercer) with another upon levelling up. This alleviates some of the annoyance of finding a sweet slashing weapon but having 'Crusher' as your feat. You want your combat classes to be malleable to some degree with the way they do combat, and because combat classes rely quite heavily on their equipment, the last thing you want to do is force your Fighter to have to either use a Flametongue and have their Crusher feat sit there being useless for the rest of the campaign, or continue to use Crusher and have this awesome Flametongue in your inventory, unused.

I really like Fey Touched feat for my warlock character since it means I don’t have to waste a precious spell slot for Misty Step and I really value the mobility it brings, plus the other 1st level spell you can choose can be Hex, another very good spell that I don’t have to waste a spell slot on.

Hex is a potentially poor choice. Especially if you're a Warlock, you should try to stick to spells that don't scale with slot level for what to get free castings from with a feat.

@@Shalakor yes, but Hex’s scaling is very poor and has diminishing returns for the cost of higher level spells, granted it may not be the best choice since Bless can also be chosen, but I’ve always hated the fact of having to waste a 3rd level slot or higher on Hex and with the feat I wouldn’t have to anymore.

I've said this before, but I really like the idea of a blasty bard with Eldritch Adept and Metamagic Adept. Bards can very easily get Eldritch Blast for themselves as well, so I do really like the idea of this.

Note that Artificer Initiate was nerfed to keep in line with the removal of Spell Versatility. It's still more flexible than Magic Initiate because you can cast your new spell with your own spell slots, but you can't change it every level.

I'm looking forward to picking up Metamagic on my wizard! Some cool options with subtle spell and either the duration or distant that work nicely. I've also had a few counterspell battles with various spellcasters in game and being able to subtly cast counterspell or cast it from outside their range for it will be a cool twist ;)

Note Distant Spell doesn't actually help with Counterspell. The *range* becomes 120, but it doesn't impact the trigger for casting it. Counterspell's casting time is still "1 reaction, which you take when you see a creature within 60 feet of you casting a spell", if you use Distant and see someone casting from further than 60 feet you can't take the Reaction as you haven't met the trigger

Interesting thing about Telekinetic, strict RAW the range increase does nothing. Mage Hand says "A spectral, floating hand appears at a point you choose *within range* . The hand lasts for the duration or until you dismiss it as an action. *The hand vanishes if it is ever more than 30 feet away from you* or if you cast this spell again. " So RAW the increase the Feat gives will allow you to *cast* it to 31+ feet ("within range" would update if the spell's range is updated), but then would instantly pop for being over 30 feet away as "ever more than 30 feet" is explicit rather than referencing the range even if under base conditions they're the same number. The RAI is obvious as it would be nonsense to publish an option that literally does nothing ever, but that's the RAW

I think the custom origin is what I'm most excited for in Tasha's, as it says you're a Humanoid and you get to choose your appearance. So you can technically be any Humanoid that doesn't have racial traits for players atm, so like a Giff with the Gunner feat, or a Xvart warlock with Raxivort as your Patron, or a Fire Newt warlock with Imix as your Patron.

Ok, hear me out: Custom Mountain Dwarf Wizard (INT+CON @16, DEX @ 14 for Medium Armor) Order of Scribes - and at 4 pick the Crusher Feat. Use Bludgeoning Damage on Attack Roll spells like Scorching Ray and become... the Hammer Mage.

Scribe wizard probably combos well with all three of the melee damage type feats thanks to spells like cloud of daggers and blade barrier. And here I was just looking at "choose the damage type" spells for ways to make fireball psychic, radiant, or force. Oh, catapult is a lvl 1 spell that does bludgeoning. That'll let all your always hit magic missiles do all kinds of things. Might need to ask your DM if magic missiles still count as "attacks" even with no attack rolls.

People are interested in feats but being tied to ability score modifiers make them hard to pick up specially when using point buy or standard array as you need to raise your scores at least 2 times before you can start picking up feats. The time i picked the most feats was as a paladin that rolled 2 18s and a 16 which allowed me to ignore ability scores for the rest of the campaign. A good method would be to give both feats and asi or that a feat replaces one of the 2 increases you get for asi or tie acquiring feats to the character lvl rather than class lvl, hell you could just say the dm can grant feats based on roleplay and achievements or campaign milestones.

Dex for Crusher was for Monks that use quarterstaves. Wisdom for Chef was from the ability to smell and taste food as a part of perception.

Right before they released the UA Chef feat I had made a custom one for my fiance that was almost identical to it. I just handled temp HP differently, other than that it was the same thing.

Honestly... I would make a Soulknife Rogue with Telekinetic. It's perfectly thematic if you ask me. I was originally thinking of doing a Soulknife/Arcane Trickster hybrid Rogue to get their invisible Mage Hand, but I think this feat almost fixes that for me right there. The invisible Mage Hand is perfect for making a psychic character a bit more thematic and the utility of having the telekinetic shove get enemies out of your way if you need to make a clever move is also pretty slick.

Shnikies the Metamagic Adept has opened up so many opportunities. That is the one that I am most interested in. There are cleric or wizard spells that I would LOVE for them to have a longer duration. Yes you can only do that twice a day but that can come in clutch. Of how about Life Cleric that cast a distant Cure Wounds at like 5th level?

Hi Ted. Since you asked about my favorite of the new feats, I figured I'd try and answer for once. Personally my favorite feats from this is a definite tie. Between the Shadow Touched and the Fey Touched feats. not only does it allow the spellcasting classes a small chance of spells they possibly normally won't have access to on their own, it also allows a bit of roleplay if you have taken them. Such as how your features morph from say human to looking more half-elven for the Fey Touched or your skin gets darker or more ashen than normal for your race if you were Shadow Touched. All in all, I do believe that all of these new feats will be of use to someone somewhere. But these two are my favorites right now. (lol I have a druid with inflict wounds!)

Fey Touched is almost a must have best in slot feat for something like half of the classes in the game. Plus one to a mental stat, misty step, and one divination or enchantment spell... Every fighter, monk, barbarian, and paladin just got access to a short range teleport and their pick of either hex or hunters mark. Shadow touched and telekinetic are also of note because they give all the other rogue subclasses access to limited forms of the main tricks you get for going Arcane Trickster.

Crusher combos better on certain builds than shield master. Monks gain a lot from crusher and never take shield master. Casters with a quarterstaff, shillelagh, warcaster, and booming blade or green flame blade get a few nice tricks from crusher that they wouldn't get from shield master. Two handed bludgeoning weapon builds, dual wielding builds, unarmed fighting style builds. Sure crusher does most of the same stuff as shield master, but it does that stuff in a way that is mutually exclusive with the way shield master works.

The fighting iniatiate is very good for someone who is playing a class that doesn't get a fighting style and wants to be a dualwielder. For example a variant human barbarian could get the feat at first level and get the dualwilder fighting style and the dualwileder feat at 4 level.

The Kensai will love the damage type feats. Mixing your damage types every turn is very easy with Kensai with a longsword, battle axe, whip or rapier , then an unarmed strike for +2, for multiple debuffs or boosted damage per turn

Why does every one have such an issue with the gunner feat. Guns are not new in D&D, CoS, Dragon Heist, Mad Mage and rime of the frost maiden have all had fire arms. When I took gunner feat on my ranger in Rime of the Frostmaiden my DM flipped out.

I like your videos and appreciate your commentary on the topic of DnD 5e. Not really too keen on videos where you pretty much just read out the rules twice. This could have worked better as a top 5 video as you seem to have little to no passion for going through the full list of these. At least that is what I got from the video. Or maybe a video about the feats and could they bring something new to the table. I really hope the video about the spells isn't just them being read out with minimal amount of commentary on them.

I preferred the original UA weapon feats: Fell Handed, Blade Master, etc.. Their grouping of weapons by usage made a lot more sense than grouping them by damage type. Crusher, for example, lumps together punches, slings and mauls which are going to be used in completely dissimilar ways. The psionic feats could add some nice flavour to a character. Same for fey touched and shadow touched. Chef has great roleplay potential. Overall the feats strike me as good but not great. Nothing like sharpshooter, great weapon master, or polearm master that define entire fighting styles. I'd like to see some similar feats for spear and shield, and sword (or axe, flail, hammer, pick, etc.) and shield styles.

Dao Patron Gennie warlocks add Bludgeoning damage to any attack role, that includes Eldritch blast, or weapons that deal other damage types. They also have Spike growth on their spell list, to knock enemies into.

@sum body Yes, but the Genie Warlocks get to add damage to any one attack per turn, and that damage type for Dao Patrons is Bludgeoning. So an Eldritch Blast from a Dao Patron Genie Warlock is dealing both Force and Bludgeoning damage. It's a new sub-class in Tashas'. For an Efreeti Patron it's fire, so a tielfing Efreeti Patron Warlock could trigger his Flames of Phlegathos with his Eldritch Blast.

@sum body When I first read it, I thought Dao warlocks were getting shafted. Bludgeoning damage where the other 3 types were getting fire (efreet), cold (marid) or thunder (Djinn) seemed weak. However, when you add the crusher feat on top, it gets almost over-powered. It's not a lot - you just add your prof bonus in damage of your genie's type to one attack per turn, but it's any attack you make a roll for, spell attack or weapons. The feature is called "Genie's Wrath", and it comes at 1st level.

Eldritch Adept is my favorite. The Warlock invocations were always the most interesting part of the class to me, and this feat is basically ten feats in one. The limitations are a bit unfortunate, but there are still a lot of really great options. Imagine Scribe Wizard with Eyes of The Rune Keeper, or a Shadow Monk with Devils Sight, a Druid with Beast Speech, an Assassin with Mask of Many Faces, or a Thief with Eldritch Sight. Awesome thematic abilities that work amazingly on other builds, but until now required a full dip into Warlock.

The crusher nerf is a bit rough. No dex, plus only lasts until *start* of your next turn rather than end of your next turn - crit on your last attack and you won't benefit at all from that part (your party still will). A lot less useful for a Monk now.

Telekinetic and the warlock invocation one are both better than you think at first glance for some niche rolls. Credit to The Dungeon Dudes for catching these: Telekinetic - Are you playing a spell caster? Do you not have something to do with your bonus action this turn? Do you have a sustained AOE spell in effect? Shove a nearby creature into your Wall of Fire! Warlock Invocation - Are you a shadow monk or shadow sorcerer? Use this to take Devil's Sight and see in your own magical darkness!

Man, Shadow Touched got nerfed... Sure, Invisibility is cool, but it dissipates on the first thing you do. Darkness lasts a while, and having picked it as a Warlock with access to the Devils Sight invocation it was a real gamechanger for me.

Because Eldritch Adept says if an Invocation has a prereq you must both meet the prereq and be a Warlock. Since Agonizing Blast has a prereq of knowing Eldritch Blast you must have at least one level of Warlock to take it.

It’s a great feat (and we were sorely lacking useful magic feats, while melee characters have dozens to pick from) However I’m a bit miffed that Sorcerers lost their one unique feature, seeing as how they are already the least played arcane class in the entire game. Kinda sad to see there is even less reason to take them now.

The Crusher feat is not applicable to melee weapons only, there is one bludgeoning ranged weapon, the sling that requires dex as well as the monk using dex for melee.

Technically there are a couple other ranged bludgeoning weapons if you include module specific ones. PotA has the Storm Boomerang magic item, and Rime has rules for a sport called Chain Lightning which for whatever reason coded the ball as a weapon

Poisoner. I wonder if you can take Alchemy Jug infusion, get 1 Basic Poison a day. worth 100g. Can that be the 50g material for a batch of poisons? While you can't break down 100g into two instances of poison. I can't think of a reason why it can't count as material. You're basically concentrating it, or adding alchemical /poison stuff to it

yes fully intented from the get go.Lock muliclassing had to atleast invest 2 lvl in Warlock to get AB and another invocation they didn't want everybody to get it without atleast halting your class progession. They really need to look over the warlock and maybe revise them in 5.5 or whatever is coming.

I dont know a feat is a heavy investment and i find this underwhelming. The only one i like is fey touched. I dont play martials so i dokt know how usefull crusher etc. is. Even dark touched i dont like the the other thing you get is an illusion or necromancy which as a spellcaster you get anyway. And most loos power extremly fast. Enchantemnt and dicination both have spells that you can keep for the rest of the game. Maybe if you are a quarter caster but esle. Fey at least gives you good otpions for the other spell. Then read minds is very situational or broken depending on the dm. Mostly i have seen it useless and 5 feat showing sounds cool, but you could aslo misty step. Also meta magic, you get two points or you take warcaster/resilient like you always do with most spell caster or maybe lucky.

On shadow touched I will agree it is really underwhelming even moree so because the two spell who you can take which are almost always useful Disguise Self and Silent Image you can get both of them with eldritch adept and cast them at will.I mean invisibility is cool and ok but all around really underwhelming. At least it is a half-feat. The big problem isn't the feat it is that the schools are oddly balanced and many aren't as powerful as the other in particular if you only have one level (1st-level as an option).

A variant race can choose the unarmed fighting style then go monk. So a level one monk can do 2d8 damage. (Short swords are martial weapons.)

Not necessarily, the unarmed fighting style doesn’t stack with the damage from the martial arts die, same as any natural weapon. It just means that you can do 1d8 early as long as you are using your strength modifier.

Spell attacks are not necessarily casting a spell. All current metamagics only apply on casting or rolling damage for a spell, which none of Eldritch Cannon's options are. Theoretically if they release more new Metamagic down the line that calls for "make a spell attack" or "make a save against your spell save DC" without first calling for cast a spell it could theoretically happen, but no options that exist now are compatible
