It's all about energy levels, time, commitments and determination. We all know what to do. Walk the lake at night listening for fish. Set the alarm an hour before first light. It's Adams job to do this, he fishes mid week. But for the weekend angler it's impossible with busy lakes. But great tips in theory from Adam.

I think to a degree the reason a lot of anglers fish the same way as Adam spoke about fishing years ago, find a visible feature then marker up is beacuse they do not always have the luxury of finding the fish first (unless willing to go home if they cant find fish in areas they can fish) simply because a lot of venues are very busy, and some anglers time is very limited. I could turn up at my club lake for 24hr, spend time walking the lake, only see fish in areas where the swims are taken ..... so the choice is, go home or take a chance elsewhere on the lake knowing I might not go fishing again for another month

Totally agree especially if it’s a day ticket lake

Indeed, just comes down to time you have available for being bankside, these guys job is to be there 5-7 days a week so understandable they can use this method efficiently and just move spot location or come back tomorrow, regular anglers can go once a month maybe more if your lucky and can afford it 😅

My local day ticket lake (members lake) is fantastic & full of fish. I had 2 30lbers last year. Problem is you have to book a specific swim which makes getting on the fish much more difficult. When it happens it's frustrating as you can see fish elsewhere but can't get to them. I end up fishing my usual spot & usually get a bite or two but this is an issue that anglers face when a syndicate lake is financially out of reach.

There's usually more than one swim free. If there is, it's worth spending a bit of time looking, no matter what. 24hr is a long time and spending the first hour or more looking is always worth it. In fact, on a shorter session, it's even more important. A lot of my fishing is work nights and I'll still make the effort to walk the lake and look every time.

Not a carp fisherman but found this after searching for tips on using a spot/marker rod for tench fishing. I found this to be one of the most common sense videos on this subject and will look at the rest of the series. Thanks Adam 👍

Great advice but not always practical when the fish aren't showing or the fishery is busy, then you've got to go on the areas where carp might be. I'm just getting serious about feature finding in open water so a really helpful video, confirmed a couple of things I'd been wondering about

Hi Adam. What are your thoughts of throwing out a deeper to get the depths, then ping out a lead to check the bottom ?
@robholt8333
@robholt8333 3 месяца назад
all well and good but it's practically impossible in modern carp fishing to have free reign in a particular water to track the fish down and have access to them. It happened to me this weekend where the guy opposite me seemed to have the entire stock of the lake in his swim in a bay and the rest of the lake blanked. Feature finding should be the absolute bread and butter for ALL course angling! This is the problem with modern fishing media; they present scenarios which are not realistic to the average angler.

Intresting view on how to approach a venue, but what if the lake is surrounded by overhanging trees, few venues and you just can't get to the fish or their holding area? Even if they are there, that doesn't mean that they are in the mood to feed... maybe they visit a completely different Spot for that. How do you explain that?🤔😁

Hi. How do you approach spodding distances? Appreciating that you would perhaps only use them in a weedy situations, but how do you adjust the wraps if you aren’t using a marker. Thanks

All good in theory - but what if you’re fishing a very low stocked water where the fish rarely show with no night fishing…you’re travelling back to the 80s in picking likely spots; baiting; and hoping the fish will come to you! 👍🏻

5lb minimum, 12ft length for usual use, 13ft for long distances

@@markdarby75 and to cast longer distances use a size smaller spod/spomb than the largest one, in my opinion the spomb midi x is the best allrounder

Nuvva question. Instead of leading around for flat spots in weedy lakes, why not just chod rig? Surely a lot simpler. Always see people raving how good chod rigs are but not many videos of people using them in deep weed and catching

I'm wondering why in the UK almost no one is using a bait boat, while in central europe practically every "high-end" angler is using one.

Just simple water craft. Ideally leading about should give you a rough idea to allow presentation.

Why do u need a “leader” if you’ve got strong braid?
@trigger4616
@trigger4616 Год назад
You don't if your not casting mega distances but if your trying to hit 100+ yards with a large spod it's advisable to have ,he uses the same rod for feature finding and spodding so he has a shock leader

All these videos allways say go where the fish are.when most places you go to fish want you to prebook your peg.most of the time the place is booked up and you cant move peg.this is ok if you book the whole place yourself because your filming a video
@b62boom1
@b62boom1 Год назад
There's plenty of lakes where it's not pre-booked peg fishing. Just avoid the commercial circuit waters, because that's how those sort of fisheries are run these days, but there's plenty that aren't like that. Some clubs are cheaper to join than a 48hr ticket on many of these commercials, and tend to be much quieter venues. It depends what you want.
@kevinwinter7050

Lakes where you pre book swims are very much in the minority. There's plenty of cheap, quiet club lakes if you look around...

I can’t think of anything worse in carp fishing than what you describe. There’s loads of waters out there where you hardly see another angler. I can think of loads of times on several waters over the years when I’ve been the only angler on the lake on a sat night.
@kevinwinter7050
@kevinwinter7050 Год назад
@Neil they're out there. You might have to compromise in terms of size or productivity, but they can be found.
@kevinwinter7050
@kevinwinter7050 Год назад
As said, I can think of a few clubs with decent fish in. In my area, I can think of two or three I could join tomorrow and be fishing for forty plus fish, but I'm hardly going to name them in here...

Luckily I fish Monday to Wednesday each week and this is exactly what I do if I can spot the buggers find a clear spot closest to them ! however on occasion I have been to lakes where its busy busy busy with pre booked swims so it's a case of suck it and see 👀
