It was probably played just cos its a gr8 tune that can get the crowd singing with passion. Even tho the song itself is adopted by Celtic and Liverpool. Funnily enough Barnsley FC played it in their stadium when they gained promotion to the prem in 1997. In fact many clubs around the world play it. Also its ironic that ur name is the same as a former Leicester City legend but ur a supporter of their rivals Derby County.
@@orlandotrustfullandhiscosm4110 Derby County are not rivals of Leicester -- I'm not aware of any rivalry or competition between us. As a Derby County fan, our main rivalry is with Forest, Leeds and to a lesser extent Chesterfield. I cannot think of any time where me or fellow fans (of both teams!) have felt any real rivalry. In honesty, I'm struggling to think who their rivals would be... Loughborough?? Hinkley??
@@Georgiahulse well i dont know how old you are but i remember as a teenager the feisty battles between Derby and Leicester. The little fight between Robbie Savage and Ravanelli. I used to live in Warwickshire as a kid and i used to listen to 106 century FM which covered Forest, Leicester and Derby games. They really revved up the whole Foxes-Rams rivalry. But i do know that Forest and Derby are literally only separated by the river Trent. So those 2 are the real rivals.
@@orlandotrustfullandhiscosm4110 I started watching the Rams as a young kid the year after we were first crowned English Champions, so I've been going 46 years. At that point the main rivalry was with Leeds as they (along with us) were always on the TV or in the papers. We've always had rivalry with Forest because of their proximity to us and that is arguably bigger now than the Leeds rivalry (especially among younger gans who won't remember Derby and Leeds at the top). I remember Radio 106 then when it became Century 106.6 FM. They tried to push the rivalry because both teams were in the Premiership at that point (Forest often weren't). Before that, I never remember any real feelings towards them. Go on Derby fan forums now and you'll see how indifferent we are towards them.
Georgiahulse Of course they are a rival. Geographically they are a nearby city and secondly they are the most successful East Midlands team in the last 30 years. That dominance alone is enough to inspire rivalry. Also you couldn’t have been at those games in the early 00s when we beat them in the last minutes of the game Eranio brilliance or the time Savage celebrated winning a penalty in front of the Derby fans and almost caused a riot in the stadium because there was hundreds of Leicester fans who had seats dotted around the ground.
Although not a Derby fan, I would've preferred simply rebuilding stands on the original site. When I look at Liverpool and how they still have Anfield, although much changed, I feel sad for modern football. I prefer 4 individual stands as opposed to a soulless bowl.
