I just bought it and I came here to say that it is incredible! Seriously, what you have done in this microphone is gorgeous! Clean recording and precise vocals👍🏻 Thank you RØDE.
Wow! You guys are just hitting it out of the ballpark! NTG5, VideoMic NTG, now this. I couldn't find this listed yet at B&H. Do we know the retail price?
Just tested the NT-USB earlier today and it is an impressive sounding mic for the price. Looking forward to putting it through its paces over the coming weeks.
Please do a sound comparison of these two in the same vid at some stage. I found the NT-USB a bit too bright (and that's reflected in the freq chart, which at this stage is unpublished for the mini). Rode's site points out this is an Electret Condenser (not regular condensor) and electrets do have a rep for extended top end reponse but somewhat insubstatial low end.
Curtis Judd Found a YT vid comparing the two (with several others in similar price range) and it confirms the Mini has less bottom end than the NT-USB (which I found already lacking a little “muscularity”). What pleasantly surprised me in this range for voice were Samson’s Q2u and G-Track Pro
I got the NT USB mini for Christmas. When I plugged it into my PS4 it first worked but then the audio I was hearing was stuttering and really high. I’m not sure what is wrong but maybe someone can help.
Unfortunately the NT-USB Mini isn't designed to be used with gaming consoles meaning we can't guarantee that you will get a solid connection between the two, sorry!
How is the sound quality compared to the nt usb? Somehow to me something about this audio seems a little bit off. I don't know if it's my device, the processing or the mic. So I am waiting for further reviews.
Hi, I was looking at purchasing the Rode NT-USB Mini Podcasting Bundle, 4 Pack. It would be for a 3 or 4 person podcast being recorded in different premises. Would this mic bundle be suitable for same? What other equipment would I require if using a Laptop and anchor app? Will the microphones record on seperate channels for editing? Thank you.
This setup would work nicely, if you have multiple inputs, the RØDE Connect app would be a really nice solution to record guests in multiple locations.
Hi!! So my rode nt usb mini is working great, but when I use rode connect with it, it does not pick up my voice, but it can pick up my system and virtual audio. Is there a way to fix this? Or do i need to do something in the sound settings of my pc? Thank you!!!!
Hey, how can I use it with the wireless headphones? I hate being tangled with wired headphones and constantly take them off when I want to stand up during my Google Meet calls. Thanks for the advice, I really looking forward to the response.
Hey Antoni, you won't be able to connect wireless headphones to the NT-USB Mini, but you should be able to connect them to your computer and set them as the audio output, and the NT-USB Mini as the audio input. You won't be able to monitor your audio, but you should be able to hear what the other person is saying.
I have a Rode NT-USB Mini that I connect with a Windows 10 laptop. I've done voice recordings with Windows and Audacity. But the sound is very weak even though I have changed the sound setting in Windows 10. Help me please
The NT-USB Mini has an inbuilt shock mount so you shouldn't need an external one, unfortunately it isn't compatible with any of our shock mounts. It also has an inbuilt pop filter so you shouldn't need one of those either.
@@rodemic @RØDE Microphones Hello there Rode. If you claim this mike has an internal shock mount, why this information is not mentioned in the specifications of the microphone? Based on my research and number of reviews I watched, it doesn't look it does have an internal shock mount. I was about to buy it but I need to use at the same time while I'm making notes on my computer and without the ability to install it in a shock mount on a boom arm, it's feels I should keep searching for another mic.
I get a bunch of white noise, like the bottom level noise is super high.. I have it set to 1 dB of boost, and it's still very audible.. How do I get rid of it?
I had the larger NT-USB for a couple of years and could not be happier - still use it to this minute. I brought the NT-USB Mini for my daughter as soon as it came out (backordered from B&H for two months!) and the new model did not disappoint. The key points are great audio quality for computer recording and totally plug-and-play! Both mics are a HUGE step up from laptop integrated mics, typical headset mics, and anything over Bluetooth in terms of human voice presence, warmth and capturing the emotion. There is no magic though, you still need a quiet room and sound proofing still helps if your room is reverberating a lot.
Hello, I purchased this microphone some days ago and i have a problem where the microphone makes my voice sounds like a chipmunk (high pitched), i tried on my PC with windows 10 and linux OS and my laptop with windows 10 OS but it is still the same, what is wrong with my microphone?
I tried connecting this microphone to my iPhone 12 via SC19 cord (sold by rose) . But the voice isn’t clear and it’s picking up a lot of background noise .
Hey there, the NT-USB Mini is not MFI certified and thus is not compatible directly with iOS devices. We would recommend the NT-USB+ if this is your recording method!
Where I Can Buy it? And How much in IDR, is it really not Expensive? just a little advice, when your Company or your Brand Introducing a new product, Please and once again Please Write or Mention the Range of Price on Video or on the Description below, it's more helpful than just only say "... Not Expensive ..." in the launching video, Or you can Write the links Where the custumers can buy it according to the Region. I Know this is about a marketing, and i understand too for the Perfect Making Decision in Price to sustainable the Brand or the Company, But it's ..... aaaaaa C'mon, Do not Regret if there are a Competitor Products that make a breakthrough about Mentioning the price at the beginning of the product launching, and get the fastest and most sales in a very short time. Hopefully the RODE microphones can Read this Comment and maybe other Competitor, I just want to emphasize, that this is an opportunity to get more empathy for maybe almost all customers in the world, who was very upset because the price was not mentioned in the begining of launching product -_-.
Hey! The reason we don't publish the price of the product in the video is because it's different around the world. We always recommend contacting an authorised dealer in your area for your local price. As an FYI, the NT-USB Mini is selling for US$99.
“Next level”? In which way? So is this meant to sound better than the NT-USB and be a replacement for it? “More accessible”? Because it’s cheaper but what I hear so far also sounds cheaper compared to other “quality” mics albeit double the price. Where is the chart and proof of this smooth frequency response?
Please Help! im running windows 10, and when i plugged in my new RØDE NT-USB MINI i was getting so low recording sound from this device, "Unuseable" anyone here hwo had a simular problem and got it fixed ????
Hey, RODE! Just bought this mic. It sounds really good especially for this price. The look and feel is awesome too! I (and probably many more) just wish we had a way to change the mode on the latency-free listening button to act as a mute button as well. Hold it to mute or something. That'd be really nice!
Hi, RODE Team... how to set up this mic for Vocal Recording? i tried to sing along with the beat, but in the playback, my vocals sounds Delay, how to resolve this? do i need to buy something to fix this? can you recommend a budget friendly solution thanks
Hi Taguro, the NT-USB Mini has direct monitoring. Simply plug your headphones into the back of the NT-USB mini and press the volume knob on the front of the microphone to activate. To prevent the delay, you’ll need to avoid sending your mic audio back to your headphones from your recording software. Hope this helps!
A dynamic mic would be best for doing VO in an untreated room. It'll record less echo and other sounds compared to the condenser capsule in the NT-USB Mini, although the NT-USB Mini would still do a good job!
@@rodemic awesome, thanks for the response. My gut feeling was to go with a dynamic mic and after simultaneous testing last week and hearing the results, I was leaning slightly more towards the dynamic mic. I'm assisting someone with their podcast production, so I'm always extra diligent when making recommendations for other people. The NT-USB could be option one and the Rode Podcaster USB mic option two.
Thumbs up if you feel like RODE is just showing off now? I can’t think of one brand thats realising as many hit products one after the other. They’ve had a banging few years, I’ve spent so much on their stuff and it’s solid.
I have bought this microphone, but there is a disturbance when I wanted to record my voice listening to the music from my phone kept near the stand with the microphone, can you help me how to cancel that,
Ok, less of the advert, more of the facts,.. what's the sensitivity of this mic please? Thanks. My scenario = PC indoors, mic (via USB) outdoors. I want to use a mic to listen to birds, rain and the wind in the trees etc, it'll be fixed under the eave of my flat. Would this mic's sensitivity be sufficient to pick up those sorts of sounds? Please (accurately advise), i.e. gimme numbers please; I couldn't find them anywhere else. :) Thanks! :) P.s. I looked into shotgun mics but these are often prohibitively expensive and are usually too large (my eave is only about 12in deep, I need room for the mic, the cable extending from the end and its mount).
Thank You. Bought new today Christchurch, NZ. I agree (thus far) very easy to use. Windows 10 recognized at initial input. Thanks for the simple instruction inside. I had just purchased prior, a Yeti-X Blue. It didn't like Windows 10, and wasn't simple to operate. I had to go to website, blah blah blah, ~ difficulty. Had Microsoft certificate issues and also noted Google chain of other discouraged owners for same (Yeti-X). I should've initially listened to my celebrity muso friend, to just get Rode, nothing else, that's what he truly says about RODE! Now I know. To note, this unit here retails at about .5 of Yeti-X cost, so (now check my last name, Dutch) which seems to help for some strange reason. (Incidentally, the shop where I purchased Yeti-X from, for primarily my RU-vid Chess Channel, refunded all of my money for the issue, sighted by them on the internet). Thank You Rode. DW2.
I've been using the NT USB Rode Microphone since 2015. In what way is this one different to it's more expensive & larger companion (apart from the price)
Hey Cenap, NT-USB Mini generally works with Android, as long as the device has USB-C port, and a USB-C to USB-C cable is used, we would recommend a RØDE SC16 cable for this. However, this can't be guaranteed for older Android models. Thanks!
Sir, May i seek your expert opinion on “ RODE NT USB Mini” microphone. Please tell me- -is this microphone class compliant, - this mic is probably supplied with a USB-C cable, so does this cable work with latest APPLE Tablets having Usb-C PORT, - is it required to buy separately a” MFI certified cable “ to work with apple tablets( usb-C) for using apple preinstalled APPS Thanks and Regards Dilip, India
Dear friend, Thanks for a useful demo on “RODE NT USB Mini” microphone, Request your advice on: - is this mic compatible with Apple- iPad8-(2020).... & iPad Air4-(2020) Tablets, - can i record VOCAL (singing) using this Mic, - is this mic compatible with Apple music apps, & - the cables supplied with Mic can connect to lightning Port and USB -C Thanks and request your teply Dilip, India
Hype and a lot of marketing talk. Listen carefully and it’s not that great. Smooth frequency response? Where is the frequency chart? Also how does this compare to the original NT-USB? Surely not better at half the price. Great little package and convenient but this is being advertised as a professional great sounding microphone which I don’t believe it is to justify all the catch phrases. Nice price tag which will make this sell like hot cakes but I guess you get what you pay for, a nice design but not true quality and value. Almost perfect if it really did have a smooth frequency response but I guess Rode didn’t want to harm their more expensive mics while cashing in on the trend of youtube/content creators. At $99 this is priced perfectly to hit a target market and for what it is, it’s a great sleek microphone but to advertise it like it’s studio quality for professional musicians? It’s not but this could have had much more potential at a higher sounding quality. Still a fan of Rode and their products. Also truly love the concept of this mic but this one feels too commercial for the quality you get and falls short in my opinion. Rode, please make a better sounding version of this called the NT-USB Mini Pro at like $199. Be about affordable truly audiophile grade products, not quantity and at poorer passable audio grade.
Hey there, I'd recommend you refer to the safety guide for their Mac Mini regarding the proximity to magnets. Alternatively, if you're looking for a way to flexibly mount the mic, you could mount it on a PSA1 or PSA1+ to give more flexibility on where you can put the mic.
Seriously? 3 minutes and 52 seconds and you can't give us an actual sample of the mic sound? I take it that the recording was done via the lavaliere mic? Not encouraging.
Brilliant thanks..awesome mentor..bought one forgot which product I had in the bag, haven't open the bag yet - either SHURE or RODE. I cannot wait to set the Mic up..
I’m using this for my stream! I play a lot of games and I can’t even hear the keyboard when I type on it! Even with a person beside me watching a movie. It completely filters out background noises! Perfect for the budget! ♥️
Is this better than the standard NT-USB? I've just bought one of those, now I'm considering returning it and waiting for the Mini to come into stock as it seems like it's better and cheaper??
I'm really thinking about purchasing this for streaming, my only hesitation is I use a wireless headset and not really sure how this would work together, can you please give me some guidance for using the two together, and if it's possible. I do not want to hookup my headset to the NT-USB Mini...
Hello. I need mic to use when recording an conversation between two (or more) people around a table. Is this mic something that would work fine for that?
Yes, this is a good option for that. Another option which may be better for you in a space which isn't sound treated (or a purpose built studio) would be the new PodMic USB: rode.com/en/microphones/usb/podmic-usb Both will work straight into your computer with the free RØDE Connect software so you can record and mix your podcast easily!
It depends on the phone. It won't be compatible with iPhones, but can be used with some USB-C phones. It will vary though as not all phones will be able to sufficiently power the mic.
Not directly, as this device doesn't carry the same MFi certification as some of our newer devices. However the device's user guide states "If you are using an iOS device with a Lightning port, will need to use an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor in order for the NT-USB Mini to function properly." However, this device will be able to connect to the new iPhone 15 using a USB-C to USB-C cable as this new iPhone doesn't need compatible devices to be MFi certified.
Hey there, from what you're describing, it sounds like there is a program on your computer which has "monitoring" turned on. This happens with programs for things like recording voices and music where it can be helpful to hear yourself to see what you sound like when you're recording. You'll have to refer to the user manual for the progam you're recording with to fix this.
@@rodemic I am on Windows 10, and I have 3 Rode NT USB Mini. The problem is when I or the guests need to communicate with each other using headphones, I hear their double voice
hey Rode! can you guys do a video on audio editing for indoor & outdoor productions using a couple of your microphones? i own a rode procaster and want to understand a bit more about how i can better utilize my DAW to make the most of my gear. much love from the colonies :p
The gain levels should be set through the device you're connecting to. Reach out to our service team at www.rode.com/contact if you're having trouble and they can assist!
I wanted to buy Rode nt usb, but now I don’t even know, because usb mini is almost twice cheaper. What is the biggest difference between these two microphones? If I want a more professional solution, but leave the power from usb, is it better to buy NT usb?
The main difference between the two is the size and the features. The NT-USB Mini is very compact, has an in-built pop filter, a magnetic base, 360-degree swing mount, and streamlined straight forward controls. The NT-USB has a removable pop-shield, locking thread base for mounting to external shock mounts, and a monitor mix control knob. Both mics will deliver pristine, stereo-quality audio.
I have buy this rode nt usb mini, but the volume of recording are to low. I have to set at 100 the gain, but introduces a noise... So what I can do for better experience? Thanks
