I know this has been in the works for a very very long time, so I just want to say congrats on getting it launched! It’s been an absolute joy to use 😊👏
🤣 And I thought I was going to be cheeky, and ask if I can just use OBS with this instead of their clunky scene creator, but then they thought of that. I still appreciate your humor though as the 2nd version seems to always be what everyone actually wanted the first time around. Bet they fix that clunky scene creator in version 2. Ha!
Leaning more towards a RØDECaster Video Pro, everything it has now with the Streamer X features bumped up some 4k144 HDR pass-through and 4k60 record/stream. If it has to increase in size or have a add-on with a bank of 8+ faders to control the computer audio and what goes to the stream would help as well and possibly could replace a dedicated streaming PC.
@@SGAndyAng That would be nice too. I agree an ATEM can do most of what most people need for 1/5th the price. I think this will have an audio ducker (because th Rodecaster has a ducker), which is very useful
@@seankyte Yeah but its pretty good how it has receivers built in and bluetooth for phone audio. I agree 2 xlr inputs is not enough, and also its got the two usb C inputs so you could put two extra USB mics through there, burt then no usb web cam, i think 4 usb inputs wouldve been better 2 for usb mic 2 usb/web camera, and in the blank space above the buttons a preview screen(s) or some extra buttons for audio like mute or ducker , maybe they are saving that for version 2 in 2026 ? But its a gogreat first version for them and maybe Blackmagic will have to bring more to the table next time to compete
The Rodecaster Pro II is part of my daily workflow. It made so many things possible for me, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the livestreaming musician space. Can't wait to see the Rodecaster Video in person.
This is a great step into a new type of product for Rode. Not everyone has a producer behind the scenes so having the auto cuts is great. 1080p is probably enough, especially for longer content. Congratulations to the team on this one. 🤙
I love that established companies like DJI, Blackmagic - or in this case RØDE - keep innovating and try to extend their product range into new markets. And I wonder what might be the next release by RØDE, already lookin' forward to it!
If this device could add the ability to record the output in 4k, while keeping the ability to simply stream in 1080, there would literally be nothing on earth that could touch this. Video producers would snatch this up as fast as streamers.
Wow! As a professional livestream producer, I've been looking forward to this announcement. Great job, RØDE! Can't wait to use the RØDECaster Video for my next production.
I'm not even doing any live productions or anything that could use something like this but I'm still astonished by just how cool and well thought out it is.
Well this is exciting! Any chance the cut decisions will be saved as an xml so you can load up the ISO’s and finesse the edit later? That is literally a dream feature of mine. Stream live cutting your feeds Take the decisions you made live and import them into your editor to relink the high res camera source material and finesse the edit. Also can you get me a unit by Monday 😂 Love the Rode fam. Great job team
An excellent start for combining AV production. It is also very beneficial for the Rode ecosystem. The RodeCaster Video will become the central unit of Rode’s ecosystem.
While I can see why it's capped at 1080p, it would be an instant buy if it just had the capability of doing 4K. Hopefully on the next iteration, or perhaps a firmware update. Even if it comes with limitations. Aside from that, it's really impressive tech.
I love this and I hope they bring out a SDI version of this, HDMI is great for small rooms but if you are in a larger room then SDI is the way to go but for Rode's first video switcher this is very impressive
Great job! Way better than any other on the market! Now we just need a way to capture each input with XML with the cuts for post editing like we do with audio. VERY HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT!
I love this product and how revolutionary it is. The whole time watching it I was waiting for a line like “And the most revolutionary part of this device: the price. The Rodecaster Video will retail for $200.” After that line was never said, I looked it up to see it’s a thousand dollars more than that. Oof. I get it, you gotta price it how you gotta price it, but yikes. Guess this will be a rental for me. 😅
Amazing but the ISO recording doesn't have an XML file with your cuts included, like the ATEM Mini ISO models? And there is no NDI sources like the Osee GoStream? Please add both features then its an instabuy
Nice you definitely have taken care of my Audio issues for event Live streams, My Question is. Does the Encoder live stream to multiple platforms at the same time, like some Switchers, or just one platform at a time?
The RØDECaster Video is capable of single platform streaming at a time, though you can connect USB1 into your computer using a program such as 'Restream' to distribute the stream to multiple platforms!
Rode, any chance you'll make a bigger version of this with 2 independent program outputs? Would be nice to have one for local audience and one for online audience.
Agree. I have this same requirement where local audience only needs to see slides, but online audience gets a mix of cameras AND slides. My ATEM Mini Extreme ISO currently does this but is missing the audio capabilities of this new Rode product.
@@biclar Oh yeah. As I understand the ATEM mini series just has the one mix engine, so do you route individual inputs as needed to an aux output for the local video output? (with the main program going to the online stream) I sometimes do very simple AV support for local organisations who wish to do hybrid events - so local audience and online audience as well as local presenters and online presenters. I don't have a video switcher so I make it work on a pc with USB capture devices and OBS. It is messy though :/ At the moment the best device to satisfy multiple program requirement seems to be ATEM Constellation 2ME which as the name suggests has two mix engines. But it doesn't have ISO recording and doesn't have scenes. Also pretty expensive (esp when considering need for SDI conversion hardware) - too expensive for my circumstances.
Interesting device, looks like there will still be a place for the cheaper Blackmagic ATEM mini, but this is another step by Rode to make their software and hardware smart and updatable and connected... the receiver capability is super clever.
little over $2000 here in OZ, 1080. love most rode products and own dozens but couldn't justify buying this, could buy roadcaster pro 2 and a blackmagic atem iso on sale for same price
This is a vastly different product to the Duo, however we have just dropped a firmware update which allows for more virtual devices on Duo and RØDECaster Pro II: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D6yo-hBC870.html
Will this have ISO recordings?? Video mentioned being able to record individual feeds, is that the ISO feature and how many video feed at any one time??
Man this looks like it would completely eliminate the need for our blackmagic switcher and DLZ Creator to make our live streaming simpler and more dynamic!
I wonder what version of HDMI inputs and outputs are. It would really be nice it some or all of them are HDMI 2.1 for consoles and PC gaming while others can be used for Dslr input.
8 inputs, 4 X HDMI In plus 4 X SDI In will be a winner. Hopefully a longer warranty period, 2 of my Atem HDMI output fried after the one year warranty.
QUESTION: Is there an easy solution to sync audio and video? If the Camera you use is late with the video compared to the audio direct to the mixer? And also if you use various different cameras with variable speed in delivering the video, can you sync them?
The RØDECaster Video features an audio delay control, which you can use to fine-tune the delay between your video and audio streams or recordings (either in increments of milliseconds or frames).
This looks pretty awesome, but i see 3 issues that are causing me hesitation to pre-ordering it. - Iso Recording can only go up to 1080p30 while your program can be set to 1080p60, I would want my ISO recordings to have the same FPS as my Program. Other devices dont have this issue like ATEM Mini ISO series or Yolobox (4k is not something im concerned about) - I'm not a fan of the low framerate Multiview. This is a big issue with the Yolobox line too. - Seems like this device would benifit with supporting NDI inputs and it doesnt support it. Maybe a later firmware or license purchase down the road.
if I want to livestream shows from a small DIY venue would this work? I'm guessing I'd have to feed it a stereo mix...you'd kill it if you do a tutorial video series for different use cases!
I will buy this this week if it can be updated to do 4k via firmware. If not I’ll wait. Would love an answer on this one rode. I already have the rode caster II and love it.
Uh oh, BlackMagic. The ATEM low end models are in trouble. The ATEM’s non-XLR jacks were always lame. I just wish that these devices were being released with 4k. Sometimes you want to use switchers like this to record videos…not just to livestream. Nvm….just saw the price. Keeping my old ATEM Mini.😂
Hi Rode Team, I'm super excited about this product. I really like it. I've a genuine doubt like is it possible to use Thunderbolt ports instead HDMI ?! it can save space & conversion cables are available in the market...!!! . Thank you so much & I think it's a nice tool for content creators :)
Do you include an XML with the ISO recordings ? Or any other solution to create a timeline with the hard cuts between cameras? In order to refine the edit later. This would be huge and will make this product really complete.
@@rodemic yep knew that but just seeing if you did a project file like atem does given you a davinci file so you can easily make changes without syncing and re-editing
