Yes I planned that so I could clear the road before the cold hit. Steven and I did a winter camping weekend this last weekend. Perfect weather for that but no fish, only a few bites. We wanted to get out once this winter with the tent and stove. I will probably get up to the cabin more as it warms up. We could still get a few big snows as often happens in March and April. Hopefully that won't be the case.
Very much enjoy your videos. They are relaxing. I’m in Louisiana which has its own type of beauty but where you are is so clean and untouched. Thanks for the effort put in your videos.
You are welcome. It is enjoyable to share our time up in the woods and the area is much different than your part of the world. Not sure I could get used to lack of snow and heat and humidity. I guess over time a person acclimates. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
Thanks Jake. With the weather getting warmer I hope to start spending more time at the cabin and in the woods. It feels like spring might be early this year but a couple of blizzards are certainly not out of the question either. Glad you liked the video.
Hi George. Glad to see you got to go back up to the cabin with your fur baby. My blood pressure has dropped just by watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your travels. Take care, stay safe and healthy.
Thanks Elmer. Glad you liked the video and find some happiness on our trips to the cabin. As I mentioned in one of the other comments, it seems like I bring friends with me to the cabin through the videos. It is starting to feel like winter is coming to an end as it gets warmer when the sun shines. Hopefully that is true with covid too so we can all return to some kind of normal.
You're welcome. Always enjoy bringing our viewers along on a trip. More coming as the weather warms up and spring is around the corner. Just have to remember that we can get a lot of snow up there in March and even April. Can't rush mother nature! Thanks for watching.
Great video, thanks for posting it. Love the scenery in the background at the end of the video when you are closing out the video. Just awesome. Thanks again...
Yea having the lake in the background is nice. What's even nicer is the fact that I don't own any lakeshore property so I don't have to pay the higher taxes but still get to enjoy the lake. Glad you liked the video Dave. Thanks for watching.
I have a large coffee pot like that. I keep it full and on the stove all the time. Always have hot water, keeps the cabin humidity up and saves on propane.
Hard to find the pots like that these days. There are new ones but like most stuff the old ones are so much better quality. It serves us well heating water for dishes and the sauna. Glad you liked the video Lee and thanks for watching.
Yes not many cases in the county where the cabin is located. I am scheduled for my first vaccine on thur. this week so that will help stay ahead of the virus I hope. I'm glad you liked the video Barry and thanks for watching.
A few miles as the crow flies to get to T.B. Glad you liked the video. It is relaxing to spend time at the cabin and slow the pace of life some, especially this year with the virus. Thanks for watching and stay safe.
Glad to see you making the trip up to check on things before the big freeze. The view of the lake in background is very nice. Just watched Joes video so I thought I would check your channel too.
It was good to get back up to the cabin after about 3 months. Always good to check things and clear the driveway of snow to help make it easier to get in later in the spring. I will get up more unless we get a ton of snow in March and April which can happen. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
Looking good up there!! What no footage of clearing the driveway? NIce flashlight!! I will have to look up the drip drops, thanks for sharing. Stay safe my friend.👍🤓👍🤓 Randy.
I was trying out the go pro camera for the first time while I was clearing the driveway and hit the wrong button so it wasn't working when I thought it was on. Otherwise you would have seen footage of the snowblower and the 4 wheeler and plow. I guess my mistake just made for a shorter video. Thanks for watching Randy.
Glad you liked the video Timothy. I hope to get back to the cabin in the next few days. Getting ready for spring to arrive and some projects to begin. Thanks for watching.
Wonderful video! Glad you were able to make it up and enjoy! Love that Kira! Beautiful pup! Cabin looks great! Wow - did the artic blast ever settle in! We had 28 below in Iowa and I know you must have been colder! Always enjoy what you are up to and looking forward to more videos! Thank you for sharing!
It got to around -40 up at the cabin. I wasn't there for that but it was cold here in town too. Kirra has turned out to be a great companion as well as Steven's dog Diddy. They get along great and spend all their time chasing each other when they are at the cabin. Never a dull moment with 2 dogs around. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
Nice of you to share your trip to the cabin! Good stuff mate. Greetings from Australia. Those Olights are the best. Use them all the time hunting and fishing down here in Victoria. Regards Craig.
Thanks for watching Craig. I am impressed with the light so far. Only used now on a couple trips but I really like the fact that I don't need to buy batteries. Glad you liked the video and I'm always happy to share the cabin and woods with subscribers. Stay safe and healthy in Australia!
Had a good trip before the polar vortex hit. The wood stove is awesome and I wouldn't have a stove in the cabin unless it had a glass in the door so a person can get the view of the fire. It really makes things much more relaxing and pleasant in the cabin, especially at night. That view makes you feel warmer too. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
Glad you enjoyed the video Todd. My son and I did a winter camping trip this last weekend so that one should be out in the near future. Starting to warm up and feeling more like spring is on the way so hopefully I will be at the cabin more in the future. Thanks for watching.
Looks good buddy thanks for taking us along with you. Very nice up there. What is the name of the lake if you don’t mind me asking. I am from West Virginia and we don’t have many lakes down here like you all do in Minnesota. I was through Minnesota last summer. Hope you all are doing well.
You're welcome guy. It was a good trip up north and a relaxing couple of days even though it takes some work to clean up snow around the place. But even that is more enjoyable at the cabin than it is in town. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Ed. Now that it is warming up and feeling like spring is on the way, I hope to get there more . Can't get ahead of myself though because next thing you know there is a snow storm and 2 ft. of new snow has arrived! Does happen often in March and even April up here. Glad you liked the video.
KwikTrip chicken is really good. I just discovered that they also sell the chicken already pulled off the bone. Makes quick meals even quicker. Also handy for casseroles, etc. One container of pulled chicken was enough for several salads for me and tasted really great!
It can be dangerous to go into Kwik Trip unless you have specific items in mind otherwise the next thing you know your basket is full of many items you didn't know you needed, ha-ha. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
We have a shack!! And its not off grid as such!! We love spending time there!! But its heartwrenching when we have to leave it and go back to the real world as we don't know when we will be back again!! :-(!!
Yes I hear you. Always fun to arrive, sad to leave. I am lucky the cabin is only 80 miles from my house so I can get there in 1 1/2 hours. Often I have just run up for the day. We are lucky to have a place to go to relax or work in the woods. I appreciate every trip to the cabin. Thanks for watching.
Sgt. Roos, John T. (Ret.) I feel the same way as Barry Hansen, since I follow Joe too!:) I grew up in MN, but left when I went into the USMC in 1987. I'm at Trinka Davis Veteran's Village, Carrollton, GA. It's run by the VA. I hope to be able to leave in late August 2021. I may come back to MN after a year... Semper Fidelis
Glad to share a little of my time at the cabin with you. You don't have to experience the snow and cold while watching the video. You know coming from MN what winters can be like. I hope everything works out for you to return when you get a chance. Thanks for watching and stay safe and healthy!
Kato I don't have an accent!! Ha-ha, you aren't the first person to say that. Since I'm retired, maybe recording audio books could be a new career. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
Welcome to the channel. I hope you like our videos. We don't do as many as Joe but viewers get to see another look at the area and cabin near Joe. He is a good neighbor to have up in the woods. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
When I was heading up it was ground hogs day. It takes us awhile to get to editing videos so it doesn't always make sense in the sequence of things. That is what is going on. Anyway, I hope you found the video enjoyable. Thanks for watching. No calendar difference between the east coast and the midwest, LOL.
I like it and it does move some warm air sideways that would normally go to the ceiling. It doesn't move huge volumes but enough that I like it. Amazing how the thing works and always fun to see how long it takes to fire up once you start the stove. Thanks for watching Bill.
The fan is small and doesn't move large volumes of air but enough to help circulate some and not have it all rise to the ceiling. Plus it's kind of relaxing watching the blades turn. Little things we do to keep entertained! Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
I watch the dog pretty close when we are outside. I know things can get ugly in a hurry if we aren't careful. The olight states 66 hrs on low, 18 hrs on med., 270 min on high at 500 lumens, and 175 min on turbo at 2500 lumens. Most of the time is spent on low or med so it runs a long time. Happy with the unit so far. Take care todd and thanks for watching.
Yes I was reading about that. They harvested more than they had anticipated and closed the hunt after 3 days instead of seven. I'm sure the estimate of the numbers are low as I suspect is the case in MN. I don't anticipate a hunt anytime soon in MN. We'll see what the DNR says but I think a law suit will stop anything from happening here. Thanks for watching Scott.
We missed being at our cabins at the same time. They had warm weather on their trip. My son and I just spent the weekend winter camping so that will be on the channel soon. I suppose it is about a little less than a half mile down the lake to Joe's tent. Good neighbors to have at the cabin. Glad you like the video Bill. Thanks for watching.
Running through the snow gets her thirsty for sure. Plus the warmth in the cabin from the wood stove makes things dry out including the dog. Stay hydrated in the winter is challenging. Thanks for watching.
New subscriber from Joe's channel. I have been following Joe & Zack for many, many years! Come visit my channel at the Cabin in VT. We look forward to good channels like Joe's. We never watch TV anymore just RU-vid. lol
Thanks for the subscription! I will check out your channel as well. It is nice to find people with similar interests as you say. Everyone has some great ideas to offer that we may not think about on our own. I too spend time watching RU-vid. Glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching.
