First off Happy birthday 🎂! Never apologize for having a bunch of colors and brands. As a creator you often become a curator. You can't review or compare products if you haven't used them and while two brands have the same pigment the paint can be soooooo different. Lovely birthday haul! Hope you enjoy!

Thank you so much!! Absolutely, thank you and it is so nice to have a new friend like you who understands. ;D I've gotten some really hateful comments, some were so mean I had to block them. Yes, exactly!!! Thank you, I'm enjoying them so much I'm behind editing my March videos. Lol

I'm so sorry...I was hoping you wouldn't have just yet. My crafty ladies were so much kinder, as I'm sure you colorist friends are. Most days I can rise above it and stay kind. Oh, it would be much harder if I read a comment on you or other creators channels.

I love how long your videos are , playing with art supplies and watching your joy in it gives me joy, art and art supplies give me the same joy! I feel like it does any way, I don’t know how much longer I have as I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer and they took me offf any treatment but basically pain meds , which all sucks I’m too young to die but it’s coming for me , I’m sorry I didn’t mean to bum anyone out , anyway joy from art supplies is what the comment was meant to be

I tend to take the minimalist approach just by my nature. I don't like having too many things which is why I, yet again, went through my things and gave my granddaughter some things and sold some other things. I get to feeling overcrowded or weighted down with too many things, even clothes or pretty much anything else. However, that is me. My choice. In my opinion it's no one else's business what you do, what you like to do and what you choose to spend your money on. I do like to watch others who get happy trying new things, particularly watercolors, and I get to see all kinds of products in action. It also helps me be more discerning with my own purchasing choices. So you be you, you do you, and forget about the naysayers!

Thank you!! I hope to be like you, even with art supplies some day... I am that way with clothes, shoes, and most other things. A lot of women love lots of shoes and jewelry, etc. Art supplies are my only splurge, and they make me so happy! I just love trying them all, and giving what I don't love to my kids or donating them. Thank you, that is exactly why I'm sharing these videos!! I so happy to know they help you make a more informed choice. That is exactly why I keep sharing. Thanks, I do my best to ignore them.

I found this video very informative. So many products I have been curious about, now I have an idea about how they work. You should check out Steve Mitchell’s video on his top gouache paints, I learned a lot from it. He compares several brands and discusses opacity and lightfastness. Thank you for sharing your experience and explorations of art products.

Maybe I’m old-fashioned,but it’s up to you what you spend your money on, I haven’t been able to sketch, draw or paint for 15 years, so all my supplies are old and things have changed. Watching channels like yours is re educating people like myself. It all allows me to see some products that I would probably not have seen otherwise and to choose the specific products, I can or want to buy my limited budget. Whilst I understand a lot of people are struggling financially that should never mean it is alright to take their struggle out on you. Please don’t listen to a hateful people or comments. I know it can be harder said than done, but please don’t take their thoughtless comments to heart. Your passion is obvious and should not be criticised by anyone. I enjoy your content, thank you

Wow Stephanie, what an amazing video! This was definitely a big haul! And I loved seeing all the different mediums you bought. But like you, my heart just melts watching you swatch watercolors. I absolutely love the old Holland violet gray and turquoise, they are gorgeous! I’m definitely gonna have to add those to my wish list. I also loved that calligraphy gift set that you bought! I always wanted to learn calligraphy myself, but now that I’m older I don’t think I have the patience for it either! Lol. I have enough craft supplies tween card making, scrapbooking and water coloring that I need to stay focused on those! Lol. I had bought gouache a couple years ago from Holbein. I think there was 10 in the set? I have never touched them! If you know of any channels on RU-vid that are good, and can teach me about gosh that would be great! If not, I’ll probably send them to you if that’s something you’d be interested in? Thank you so much for sharing, I’m always checking your channel to see if you’ve posted a new video! I think it would be awesome if you could pick out all your favorite colors from all your different brands and tell us which paints made it to number one! 😊❤️👌🏼🖋🖌 🎨 ✍🏼 💗

Thank you, Liz! Your messages for me are why I finally edited this video!! So, thank you for the love! Thank you, it was so much swatching all these. The Old Holland Violet Gray and Turquoise are new favorites for me, for sure. I'm going to be watching for sales to try more colors. Thanks and haha, yep...I don't think I have the patience now to be so fussy. But, also I prefer modern calligraphy. I'm only investing in art supplies now, because I've realized crafting filled the creative gap and I made tons of friends...but how many bunny or mice stamps can I use?!? So, I agree 100%. Aw, thank you that is so sweet of you! I think you should keep your Holbein gouache, it's really nice!! I have one video here on my channel, a review for Arteza gouache. I drew and painted a sea turtle, so please watch that before you consider giving your gouache away

@@TheGypsyChic1 I give you a lot of credit for doing these videos and all the editing! I wouldn’t even know what to do!?! I might have ideas for videos, but creating them and editing them is a whole different story! So keep up the good work, I really and truly do look forward to your videos! They are fun, enjoyable, relaxing and sometimes can even be costly! Lol I just ordered 19 more schminke tubes (5ml), I really didn’t have many neutrals in my Schminke collection. (I have plenty of neutrals in other brands, but really wanted the Schminke ones!) 😂 am I kind of crazy? Maybe! But it’s my one true love! ❤️ ! I’m getting them today! So I’ll be doing a bunch of swatching myself! And like I said before my friend, don’t pay any attention to negative comments! You do you, and enjoy it! The people that enjoy it will leave you nice comments, the others just don’t understand our passion! 😊💗🎨🖌

My fear of ruining brushes has been preventing me from using my Bombay India ink. I’ve decided to use older brushes and buy cheap brushes (such as from the dollar store ) specifically for them! and moving forward will use them. This fear of destroying brushes has made be truly barely use the inks in the 6 years I’ve owned them. I also periodically shake them back up to help fix settling but still need to push myself to actually use them!

You can easily refill empty Micron Pigma “disposable” pens… just pull the nib with tweezers and use a syringe to drip in some Indian/Bombay ink … which is both cheap AND waterproof! (And now I see you already have some, hehe 12:33) Also, don’t be afraid of your shellacs, people say don’t use in FP’s but those people are purists… or have $1000 pens… or the same people who say you can’t watercolour paint UNLESS you use 100% cotton paper….. pfffttttt. Anyways….I too was scared and researched and wondered and feared, people say no NEVER, other people say yes, it’s fine…. but I wanted waterproof so I finally just caved over 2-3 years ago and decided to risk it…. And I now have beautiful waterproof Carbon Black and De Atramentis in my Lamys, my Metros and also in my cheaper $5 Schneider Easy FPs, and I’ve left some of them for over 6 months/a year between use and they all still write/draw perfectly, no clogs, etc (I last checked and refilled them 2 weeks ago - and again now, since I was inspired). So yeah, don’t be scared, FPs are so great for sketching and artwork with a good waterproof ink in them! And hey, like you say here, 19:08, it’s my art, I can do it the way I want! 🤪😂 besides, it’s just a pen at the end of the day, you can always buy another one 🤗
@TheGypsyChic1
@TheGypsyChic1 Год назад
Thanks so much for the tip!! I think someone mentioned that, but I haven't tried to refill it yet. Yes, I have some! ;D I like using the Shellacs with a glass dip pen, then I can enjoy without being worried. But, yes...there are fun ways to break all of the rules and I'm learning to just enjoy products without being afraid of ruining things. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!! I've also used Carbon black ink in Lamy's and TWSBI's with no issues. My favorite pen to use the Carbon Black ink is still a Sailor Promenade. I'm not sure if it is the 14 kt gold nib or what, but it is an absolute joy to draw with! I would rather take a chance and enjoy it, than let the products sit unloved. YES, it's my art and can play however I want! ;D I'm just going to be more careful what I share here, so I don't get yelled at. Lol I have been scared to try the De Atramentis ink that I purchased awhile back...I do need to just try it! Thanks for the lovely comments!
