Hey Nate, just wanted to drop a line on how much I love your wraps - your energy and candid thoughts on each read are fab. Always like the the mix of books you dive into this time no different from the gritty LA scenes to exploring modern queer relationships in Seoul. I had 'Love in the Big City' on my February TBR and didn't get to it. Don't worry, as any decent booktuber, I remained sexy and did actually read (20 whole books - it was a good month) Kudos for the smooth transition to a Blackwells affiliate. Looking forward to your in-depth discussions in the upcoming vlogs and see what other books you'll introduce us to. Keep the recommendations coming, and thanks for making reading even sexier.

gotta go speed!!! okay! glad i wasn't the only one about the Ogden. yeah, i liked the writing style and all, but it just didn't hit with what it wanted to say. and please please please pick up The Bluest Eye! i think it might be my favorite of her's so far!

Ive not been reading and am very concerned about the decline in sexiness as a result. And ahhh I really enjoyed Second Place and have been scared that her others wont hit the same 😂 But maybe I should just peak Outline, i have it here too! And yesssss, bluest eye! I need to reread that one but am highkey nervous because the first time I read it dropkicked me in a way I dont think Ive ever recovered from 😭 and ok, re: Dune. Notedddd

ahhh i am feelin u bb! feelin a reading slump for march already :/ but oop! Outline trilogy is peak Cusk! still worth reading as foundational work to her very core. also, excited for Parade coming out later this year!!! and OOF! i want to reread The Bluest Eye again, but it's too soon and i got dropicked p badly too HOW DID THE WOMAN DO IT?!
@bibliosophie
@bibliosophie 4 месяца назад
gorgeous description of the bluest eye -- it's so wild that this was morrison's first longford entry into the lit world. you make me want to reread it. it's just so shattering and gorgeous and at once tender and uncompromising. such a perfect of morrison's craft I think we have basically the same thoughts on the shards :)

YES YES YES! how did the woman do it?? while also working in publishing and raising 2 sons?? and then also creating a canon of black voices like Davis. if you haven't yet, there's this wonderful documentary about her where she speaks for 80% of it, The Pieces I Am (2019). it's wonderful. i teared up afterwards and i miss her every day. and LOL you were right about Bret and i should've listened... ;-;

Seeing Dune tomorrow!!! So impressed by your movie viewing abilities. I find I either read a lot in a month or watch a lot but struggle to do both! All About Love was my best read of the month for sure.

wow! you had quite the reading month! love the Solanas run and oop! only 3 stars for the new Nelson?? very curious... 👀 someone else read the same Zweig here! curious to know where you heard about it. Reprise is such a fun one. love Trier's eye on the world. and we stan Baumbach!!!
@courtenaywrites
@courtenaywrites 4 месяца назад
@@nathansnook Ha! With the Nelson, it's purely because it's more of a compilation with little direction. I feel that some of the things in there lack context. It's like being dropped in a creek without a paddle! There were some really interesting essays interspersed, but it just didn't land for me! The Zweig I once looked at in the bookshop and it has been on my mind ever since! I finally got round to it last month. Yes! I found it on Netflix and really wanted to watch another subtitled film. It was wonderful!

You’ve reminded me to get back to The Shards this Summer. I’m glad to know about this Hayes that I hadn’t heard of…so so glad!! I just finished In Love and talk about it in another video. My Face For THe World To See is my fave of the 2 I’ve read. I’m in the same boat in regard to Kudos and feeling odd about it.
@nathansnook

i think i'll have to pick up My Face for the World to See up next! it seems to be the best one and Kudos...!!! still don't know what to make with that ending. it seems like some kind of big joke in a way, but regardless, i'll pick up anything that Cusk writes!
