Federal Signal 2T22 Amarillo TX 

When I was a kid, I always thought that thing was a home for bee's. It looks like something they would live in, of course until it was turned on..lol. As I got older, I realized what those were used for, and now I love the sound of them.

If you are reading this I am gonna be happy all of the old sirens in Amarillo Texas are being took down including this one and I'm glad you recorded this because it's the last recording of this siren even though it's really Old

I love old sirens like this sounds healthy that will last a few more years at the least i love it thanks for doing such a good job recording this

I love sirens, such an eerie feeling when I hear them, the town here used them a few times last year for severe storms and i'm right above a large sports field so it comes in clear haha.

The 2T22 is the best siren made in the world to man kind!!! :-D In fact I seen one in Greenvile Texas and is the first time I seen one!!!!!!

The loudest omni-directional siren is the ASC Cyclone, and the loudest rotational siren is the ASC T-135. Both of them share the same rotor design. Rotational sirens are louder since most of them have trumpet-like projections that are bigger than omni-directional sirens' horns. So a louder sound output can be made through rotational sirens.

Hey Bryan! Thanks for the post. The nearest Cyclone is several miles away. There is a T-bolt about a mile or so away. There is also a SD-10 about a mile behind us on the vid and a 2001 about a mile to the right on the vid. Wish there were more Cyclones. There is a 2001 on the ground at the City's warehouse about to be installed. Took KDK over to get a peek and see how big it really is. KDK (dad)

Cool post. We used to have these and thunderbolts. They replaced them all with 2001's a few years ago.

With all of the shaking from the wind, it's hard to tell but I think you may be right. I bet there is quite a bit of torque on start up. Thanks for the comments!

Thanks for the comment! This is the only one of these we have found. We are trying to put up a different one each month. Still have Federal Modulator, STH-10, and some speaker siren (I think Federal) to go, unless something else is found along the way. KDK

Forgot to mention that is where they break into the cable system to alert everyone of an emergency. We watched them do a test of that system too. Really was amazing to watch and be a part of! In the future, I will see if they will let me take video of that. KDK
