Hi, nice tutorial. I had my Pa300 with a AS124 speaker, but after a couple months peaker died. There are 2 wires comming from speaker, are here any diffirenses between connecting blue/brown wires from siren to black/white wire from speaker? Can you also make a tutorial how to open AS124 speaker to get inside (to magnet itself)?
Is it possible you could make a video showing how you connect it to what ever power source you are using inside? I recently got a pa300 and tested real quick with my car battery but I’d like to do something similar to this indoors, guessing you’re using a car battery charger? If you could make a quick video of hooligans the wires to your power source to the siren I’d greatly appreciate it!
I am using a “Jump n’ Carry” by JNC for my indoor videos. I have a video posted that shows me physically connecting my wires to the battery if that is all you need. The video is “How to wire a touchmaster.” Let me know if you need something more.
Hey sir, wonder if you might be able to help me sort out why my horn isn’t working. Everything else works and I know it worked before it was removed from the vehicle before I sold it.
I have this model with the 100w speaker. I wired it as you showed in the video and to test it out I connected the power directly to my truck battery and ground wire to my chasis. I turned the gain switch on only enough to turn the power on, so the switch was all the way to the left. I flipped the horn button once quickly and it was extremely loud echoing in the neighborhood. So my question is can I adjust the speaker volume somehow?
#Henry Squad Normally I would suggest eBay, but I haven’t seen one lately with the quick connect wires. It’s possible that a “Fleet Safety” type website might carry one, but beyond that, I’m not sure. Sorry.
To hook up the yellow and white ..and white wire, find the horn wire coming out of the steering wheel. Cut it. Then connect the Y&W to the steering wheel wire.... And then the white one to the other end of the cut wire. The end that's going into the relay.
My wire harness came with 2 red wires and 2 black wires (and a green for ground to vehicle). After trial and error, seems that either one (one red to power - one black to negative) or both of same color (both red to power - both black to negative, can be used to power the unit. My mic function isn't working, and thatwas throwing me off during install.
Hello, I just bought 2 pa300s. Both siren boxes on have the horn and siren toggle that works. The rotary switch doesn't. Also it seems the gain knob is bypassed so I don't think it has to be on for the toggle switch to work. I've read about a pod jumper online but I cannot locate it. Any thoughts?
Hi , great video i will testing thaht in the next day. I have a question i have already install the PA 300 model but after the installation wires when i activate the PA 300 i have the light but when i test the horn or Manual or Yelp or Wail or Hi-Lo i heard just a very very little song and i don't know what is the problem. I think that was the speaker but i am not sure have you any idea ?
Slade/JohnMayer If you connected the speaker exactly as shown in the video, and you still don’t have sound, then it’s most likely a defective speaker. I personally would double check the wires, and try a second speaker if you have one or have access to a second one. Best of luck!
Rob Boat For sure. It’s rather simple. All you do extra is connect the lead wires of the second speaker together with the first speaker. Make sure you keep the lead wires the same. (White with white and black with black.) You can add extensions to the wire leads if you want them farther apart, but just keep the leads the same as previously mentioned. Hope that makes sense!
Riley Yung You can connect the system directly to the car battery, BUT it is highly recommended that you should use a relay so that it won’t drain the battery on accident. Usually the relay is tied into the ignition.
Correct... Or. Connect it to the fuze box. Make sure you connect it with a double fuze and to something that shuts off when you shut down the car. like the radio
unsure if you check this but i'm having an issue with my fedsig (PA300 Series), when I turn it on and use it sometimes it'll work but other times the light will go out when I switch to a different siren tone but when I slap the bottom of it, it'll light up again and work. could this be a bad ground or is my power wire not heavy enough. get back to me when you can thanks.
Hmm, well it could be a number of things. I would start with the power and ground wires, mainly making sure that they have a solid connection to the battery, as well as internally secured. Also could be a loose wire connection inside the unit. That could be a pain staking process, but that is my gut feeling. I would also recommend checking the wires on the front turn knob as well; make sure those are intact too. Beyond that, it could be a shot in the dark. I’ve never had anything like that happen to any of my units, but I wish you the best of luck in finding a resolution.
@@allintodrumsandguns slapping the bottom of it doesn't do anything anymore however the top panel right where the lights are if I push down slightly on it, the unit likes to come back on
Hi im back again, I've been having trouble finding the correct model number for the pa300 with the fdny like manual, what is your silver knob pa300 model if you know? thanks
The Graduate Apple I believe my speakers use 18 gauge wire. They don’t say on them, but i believe that is what it is. Usually wire gauge isn’t the problem, I would make sure the speaker is good too.
Lew Ashby There are two wires labeled ‘radio re-broadcast’ and those would connect to the output of whatever radio you wanted to connect. And then use the volume knob on the PA300 to adjust the sound level.
JOHN SMITH Shouldn’t need a separate amp. For the PA, there is usually a dial or adjustment in the amp to turn up (or down) the volume on the PA. All the sirens that I own with a PA have an adjustment knob on the unit. Sounds like that is most likely your issue.
So when you mean battery, you mean like a car or heavy duty battery to power the siren and speaker inside a home? (For testing and yeah its been a while since i first saw this)
The Graduate Apple Yes, a car battery would work (as long as your are able to recharge it). I use a 12v jump started battery (easy to recharge) and that works great for indoor home testing. I have a Whelen lightbar demo, and you can see the battery I use in that video.
Alrighty, thanks a bunch! Also i think your horn on the silver horn button knob (100 pin model) pa300 is glitched/broken, there are no other vids of a model like that with that horn, might be something with the circuitry in your specific model..
The Graduate Apple You’re welcome! It does sound glitched to me too, but I bought it new, so I’m not sure where to start. Maybe sometime I’ll dive into it more and see what I can come up with.
Hi I have a federal signal PA300 and a federal signal BP100 speaker. My PA 300 is a 12 pin but on the right side where yours has a black circle mine has a positive and negative wire coming out. Unfortunately I do not have 12 pin connector. On the right side I have positive and negative power. which I checked with a tester. My PA 300 doesn’t light up at all. So do I need to tap in to the 12 pin for a second positive and negative to get it to work? my BP 100 has two wires. Is one a ground? or do I connect the common speaker and the high speaker wires to it? Thank you for your help.
FNTZMA11417 I haven’t personally seen a PA300 with extra wires on that side. I would suggest getting a 12 pin connecter off of eBay or wherever and try that instead of the extra wires (unless you find them necessary). The speaker wires will be the same as in the video. One common and one for high (100 watt speaker). Does not matter which lead you use.
allintodrumsandguns well she is alive, kind of when you have it on radio and you turn the gain up everything lights up but once you put it on anything other than radio the siren goes off and it’s not controllable the toggle switch does not work for the airhorn or to momentarily turn on the siren. The pa does not work either.
FNTZMA11417 Hmm, it’s hard to say without being able to see it, or how it’s wired up. Sounds like you are close. Did the seller of your PA300 say it was in full working condition?
BrianFDNY A lot of 12 volts aren’t cheap. I got 2 Astrons that I got lucky on the price. But you can get a 12 volt jumper for around $130. I recommend a JNC 660 jump starter for power.
Josué Gtz I apologize for the late reply, (never notified of your comment), a 100 watt speaker will be blue and brown wires. Only a 58 watt speaker will use the blue and orange.
I’m assuming you’re referring to the amplifier. It has severely fuses ranging from 5-20 amps. They are all automotive blade fuses that you would find in your vehicle.
I currently don't have the ability to show an install in a vehicle, but not sure if you saw it, there is a diagram in the video showing all the necessary connections to make the horn ring work.
@@allintodrumsandguns Yeah I saw it and use it on my test bench. PA300series is wired and I can only display MANUAL with the horn ring wire. Is it normal ?
Hello, please from which mobile phone store can I get this device, type federal signal pa300 series 690000. I am from Iraq. Please reply please. The Graduate Apple The silver knob PA300
Ezekiel Worst Sorry for the late reply, this one got by me. If you haven’t already gotten it working, I would consult google and add ‘8 pin connection’ and see if someone out there has a similar one.
Excellent video except the HORN feature??? I need it hooked up to my car horn to give that B L A S T to the idiots pulling out in front of you to avoid a crash.
SB Strong Tv I might have an extra Touchmaster to sell. Let me think about it. Were you looking for a working siren or just air horn with light controls?
He Dude, im from Germany, i have the same System, but it dosent works, you can send me pictures on whatsapp? i buy a ford corwn from LAPD :) sorry my english is little bad.
