I like my Linehaul job. Doubles and triples.. Home every day, weekends and holidays off and make about 2400-2600 a week. It's night work but I wouldn't have it any different. 468 miles a night, 3-4 terminal stops. Solo driver. Cha-Ching...

Peninsula in Oregon. It's the wait time, fueling up, long box drop n hook credit that adds up on top of the regular pay. Mostly hiring out of Portland Oregon terminal. 2 yrs cdl experience required. I got let go out of a smaller terminal. But I work for Saia now. They pay more per mile but kinda cheap on their wait time. Don't pay for fueling or long box drop and hook. But they do pay well and we are hiring all over. Portland Oregon. Eugene OR (My terminal). I make about 2100 to 2200 a week now but I'm ok with it

I just left a FedEx ground today. Just so everyone knows, team isn't for everyone. It's hard to get sleep with the truck bouncing around and it's worst if you're with someone who doesn't know how to drive. My first teammate didn't like whitey to much and always had something smart to say. So that only lasted about 2 weeks. The next guy was cool, we got along for the most part, but he was always having fights with his girl to the point he was screaming on the phone and banging his hands on steering wheel waking me up. The breaking point is he was always watching tv shows on his phone while driving and one day hit the breaks so hard I flew out of the bed and hurt my arm. The next day I was on my 30 minute break trying to get some sleep cause he had kept me up the night before yelling at his girl. I was only sleeping for 10 minutes and boom they start up again. So when he got out of the truck to go the bathroom and I put his stuff on the sidewalk and left. Teams isn't for everyone. It was a good paying job, but my safety and peace of mind are more important

Former driver at FedEx ground NJ. Must add another necessary requirement. Doubles/Triples. Must lift more than 150 lbs. dolly weighs 2k -2500lbs. You have to learn how to maneuver it on the pinto hook. Dolly adds 4 ft to length of connection. Backing lead trailer to even up with dolly to 2nd trailer. 25 ft pug trailer moves little quicker. 4 pieces (tractor, lead trailer, dolly, 2nd trailer. Once connected all is good driver like it’s 53ft. Must make sure lines are connected from tractor to 2nd trailer. Crossed chains from dolly to lead trailer. Pinto hook locked. You don’t want to driver and pinto hook not connected major issue and you will be fired. Hard as hell to redo but you have to drop 2nd trailer unhook dolly. Realign. Pinto hook crossed chains. Get your 3 months experience in and you can do the same exact job with US Express for 5-9 cents more per person. Fed Ex contracts out to them too. With FedEx I’m getting .27cpm. At 3 months I’ll go to .30. I’m based in SoCal.

I work for a Fedex contractor myself. Your pay varies on the contractor you work for and their pay scale. To me the video had a lot of inconsistencies. Apparently that was that particular individual’s pay. Not trying to throw any shade but he got with the wrong contractor. I came on with Fedex a little less than 3 months. I was able to do a training under a contractor. I have never been paid less than $1000 a week as a newbie inexperienced driver working with Fedex. Example: the first contractor I was with my pay was an average of $1200 a wk. That was good to me because I am fully aware that when you’re new to trucking your checks are going to be short due to your lack of experience but my experience was different and I felt blessed to be making anywhere from $1000 on a bad week to average of $1200 a week take home. My checks started getting short around $1000 a week due to a bullshit driver they put me with after 3 months. Yes, it is true that Fedex wants you to have at least 1 yr of experience but if you have less than 6 months of experience which was the case with me some contractors will take you on and train you with Fedex approval. Training is 6 months with the contractor. (1) You have to complete so many hours driving (I don’t know what they are). (2) Your trainer has to document that he observed you so many hours a week which I’m not sure what they are. If these things aren’t completed by the end of the six months Fedex could require that your training be stretched for another 3 months to complete the hours. Now with all of this in mind my first trainer told me that I should be making at least $1500 a week once I reach a yr of driving experience. If not then I need to move on to another contractor. I am currently with a different contractor whom I’ve been with for about 7 months now. My pay is a lot more. The perks with this contractor is lovely so with that in mind it does vary on the contractor you’re with because after all the contractors are the ones in charge of what you’re paid. Fedex does not dictate how much the contractor pay a driver. Once you’ve passed 6 months of experience you’re free to move on to another if you’re not happy. Driver’s do it all the time. Once you’re in the Fedex system it’s a lot easier for another contractor to pick you up. When you first try to get in it can be a kind of lengthy process but it’s also up to the contractor to do their due diligence. I started out at the Rialto hub but now currently at the City of Industry hub. YOU CAN MAKE GOOD MONEY WITH FEDEX BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE CONTRACTOR YOU ARE WITH. Now with all of this in mind I have found the benefits to be terrible so it all depends on you, what you’re looking for and what you want to make of it.

I don't know where you got your numbers... maybe they are outdated. My son works for Warrior logistics out of Dallas. He is a wild OTR team driver. He makes 66 cents a mile split. About the lowest number of miles in a week he has ever had is around 4500 miles. Usually it is between 500 and 6000 miles. His top week was around 6500 miles. That means he grosses between $1480 and $1980 per week. He is looking forward to peak season where he hopes to get some 7000 and 8000 mile weeks. The company only donates about $90 per week for health insurance. He has a family and the family has some medical insurance so he pays $340 per week for the best insurance plan United Medical has. Last week he still cleared $1400. Now, he is over the road and is a runner so he routinely stays out for a month. I have seen him stay out for 10 weeks. He is thinking about staying out for the entire peak season which is November 4th to January 5th to maximize his money and bonuses. If you are a FEDEX team driver and you are getting less than 66 cents per mile or your a solo driver and getting less than 60 cents a mile, you should consider switching. My son is a team driver but he likes it. He seems to have an unusual gift for forming genuine friendships with his co-drivers and in fact he insists on calling his co-driver his partner. He likes team driving because he didn't like being held at a shipper for up to 18 hours. He didn't like having to sleep on the shoulder of the road because there wasn't a space at a truck stop. He didn't like waiting 2 hours for a trailer washout. In fact when he was a solo reefer driver 20 to 30 hours of his week were wasted either waiting at a dock or at a trailer wash. Even at 50 cents a mile that is $600 to $900 a week he wasn't making. Still wanna run solo?

dedicated and wild rates vary between contractors. Here in Salt lake it can be anywhere between 52 to 65 cpm team that i've seen. From personal experience Wilds average is about 4500 - 5000 miles per week. I've had weeks almost hitting 7k miles and weeks where i only hit 3.5k. I hate wild personally. There are many dedicated routes, from what i've heard the average dedicated route is about 5k miles per week. My dedicated route is about 7700 miles per week at 62 cpm split. My old dedicated route was 6500 miles per week.

I did local drop and hook for fed ex in Atlanta, got paid per the stop. An 11hr day would bring me in about 360 a day within a 150 mile radius doing walmarts and local customers. Was good for awhile but definitely weekend work which was extra money. My first year as a truck driver I was 75 a year doing that after their 6 months required over the road. Home daily and good money in a day cab was a good fit for me.

I have so many questions and no matter what number I call they keep transferring me in circles. Hoping someone can answer them for me here. How do I apply for Fedex CDL Training? What’s the difference between Freight, Ground, and Express? I wanna be OTR for weeks at a time. How long are you on the road at a time as OTR? How does off time work for OTR? Does Fedex offer Solo driving OTR? I rather not do teams. How long does it take to get move up in pay? I heard they start you off on .27 cents in pay which is really low compared to the .50 cents Prime inc offers new drivers. How many guaranteed miles per week does Fedex offer for entry level? Thanks to anyone who can answer! I appreciate it!

It's garbage pay. If you are a veteran driver you'll understand why $1,700 per week is crap pay when you have to live in back of that truck for 6 days with another human, bouncing around for 6,000 miles a week. There are LTL and Grocery co's that pay that much and more if they are union for 50 hr work week and you sleep in your own bed every night and your quality of life is drastically improved. Also, guys that run local for $1100 or so per week..you can throw a rock nowdays in any direction and still hit a company that pays more with benefits, also local. If you are new driver or never made more then $500 per week in your life well I guess I can see how you can be in awe of this crap. Just know that you can do better, dont let these contractors abuse you. Always protect your cdl no matter what.
