Three now-shuttered South Florida nursing schools sold more than $100 million worth of fake nursing diplomas, leading authorities to charge more than two dozen people, federal prosecutors said Wednesday afternoon.
They don't currently teach that in nursing school. After passing the board exam and getting hired the hospital orients you for 8-52 weeks depending on hospital and specialty.
@ggh546 If you pass the boards you should be able to pass off as a doctor. Boards are hard af to pass, doesn't matter what medical college you go to, if you don't pass the boards, you don't get to play doctor.
@@TheMonkeyThatDoesYourJobBetter Who has the corrupted boldness to even lie about stuff like that. As advanced technology increases, so does verification and legitimacy.
The fake nurses need to be found and arrested. My grandpa has dementia and visit him daily at the facility he’s at. The level of incompetence and “I don’t give a dang about the patients” attitude runs rampant there!
Learn what it takes to be his caretaker and get him out of the death factory. He sits in there wishing he could be anywhere else listening to people wail and smelling urine all day.
It runs rampant in almost all elderly facilities sadly. Be glad they arent stealing your loved ones medications or personal belongings, clothes, jewelry etc. Sad and sick
This is true, my great grandma had dementia as well (Rest in peace) but some of the places she stayed have to look at themselves and fix their issues. Thier were really great places but their were really bad ones aswell. I am sad that I feel this is common, one nursing home burnt down in my area resulting in 2 death one firefighter and resident. I belive 8 were arrested for the fire.
@@empressunicorn5617 I get your point but let's be honest, the price should have been the first clue. Nursing school costs about 80,000 from start to finish for a BSN and anyone applying knows this. 15,000 is more like a medical assistant certificate.
There was just a report that 25% of ALL hospital visits in Murica end in unintended injury or death. Sounds like this is the reason. I say we should deregulate CONservative healthcare completely in the areas they control so its 100%. Thats the ONLY way we can save liberals from evil CONservatives
I’m a nurse and I can tell you that if anyone study hard they can pretty much pass the NCLEX.. the problem comes once you’re actually on the floor. A lot of nursing is practical and I have worked with nurses RN and LVN that doesn’t even know how to change a diaper or even clean a NG tube. Even just basic care.. that’s where it gets dangerous. The smallest mistake can take a life. Jus because they passed a test does not make them qualified. They were taking the easy way out. You can go to a community college for mostly free for your nursing degree and even apply for the bridge program for your RN. They paid 15,000 for fake degrees.. that’s crazy. Unfortunately they are going to make it harder for future nurses and the ones that are currently working.
The thing the news isn't telling you is, pretty much everyone involved is 👎🏿. So, that means there are around 7,600 unqualified 👎🏿 nurses running around. So, for now on, if anyone has a 👎🏿 nurse, whether the nurse is legit or not, the only rational course of action is to be a racist and demand an 👌🏻nurse. Don't blame me. I didn't corrupt the supply of 👎🏿 nurses.
@@afn-bd2ro how the hell did you get on that topic from what she said? also how ridiculous that you look down on people in poverty instead of criticizing the government of a supposed first world country that doesn't know how to properly allocate funds in order to prevent poverty and homelessness in the richest nation on earth? something tells me you have an fjb bumper sticker on your bronco and you eat a bowl of crayons for breakfast every morning LMFAO
It gets dangerous when giving drugs. The ones that passed and got jobs were probably LPNs. Note they said 'in some cases'. So very few took the NCLEX. It is always Florida.
@Hilda Granados You don’t know anything please don’t speak. Having been a cna to Lvn to rn I can attest that I learned everything from basic adls to iv skills. I attended state colleges not private. Private schools only teach you to pass the test they should all be closed. I’ve worked with nurses who attended private school they know nothing, their programs are a joke. If they fail a course/exam they can retake as many times as long as they pay more. Whereas state schools have standards and kick you out if you fail a class or 3 exams. Both theory and skills.
@@kanegrey7697 You are sadly mistaken I went to a private school and it was exactly as you said, there was no easy way out. If you made less than an 80 that was failing. If you failed 2 classes you were kicked out and couldn’t go to nursing school ever again anywhere in that state! You were done! So don’t say “all” just say the ones you know of! You don’t know every school 🙄 Mine was hard af, and I learned a lot! I went straight for my BSN I went all the way no LPN, RN just MY RN BSN. And I don’t regret it at all, amazing school!
I am a nurse, and this doesn’t surprise me. I remember when I was looking for a nursing program here in South Florida, there is so many mini shady schools. I remember calling one of them and without asking me any further questions they told me I can come to class tomorrow. Literally in the middle of the semester and in the middle of the week you want me to come to class tomorrow? No questions about my prerequisites. No questions about anything they just wanted a down payment and come to class. Of course I didn’t go there. Then you have those who try to rush you through school and want you to take your prerequisites at the same exact time you’re doing the program. Prerequisites are prerequisites for a reason.
This is giving real and good nurses a bad name/image. My daughter in law is a nurse, she worked very hard to be one and spent her hard earned money working 2 job's just to be one. These individuals are a disgrace to the practice and human race. They all need to be put in jail, pay restitution, have mugshots on TV and internet. So disgusting, so dishonest, so low, low lives of the earth.
I feel you. I apologize some of the comments were getting to me. My wife is a nurse and basically where I go I’m surrounded by at least 3-5 nurse if I’m at a family party bump it up x3. Whenever things like this happen it’s confirmation bias to all these people who hate doctors and nurses. Sometimes it feels like hard working people have it worse.
@@Benito722 Benito, my husband, and my daughter are both doctors, so I have ben associated longtime with the medical world and I find it outrageous that people would get fake degrees in this profession because lives could be at stake, Where I live they give out driver's permits for money without the drivers have had to do a driving test and people have lost their lives at the hand of these "drivers".
I hate people that bash those for dancing, seriously yes their are some dumbasses but serious they are humans, they can have fun at work as well, hell some "nurses" aren't those kinds of nurses that work int he hospitals maybe they work at a pediatric office and the just have a slow day or taking lunch
Minok1217 The video said associates degrees, so they would have had to pass the LPN licensing exam which is considerably less difficult than the RN licensing exam.
You don’t know what you’re talking about. LPNs have their own licensing exams entirely different from the exams RNs take. LPN certification is just that. It’s not a degree.
I JUST had that experience...tried taking my blood three times and failed, then also gave me the wrong test for something else...I thought, How did this person get a job here?
This is so sad coming from a RN with a 4 year degree BSN. I worked very hard and cried many nights and to hear this makes me sad. So there are nurses that are taking care of our love ones don't even know what they are doing. Smh it's already a nurse shortage now it will b worse.
@@empressunicorn5617 Don’t compare a BSN nurse with a LVP or whatever they are called. They have 2 more years of training and many more classes. They are not the same like it or not. If you can’t handle the truth that’s a personal problem
It’s really cringe worthy knowing there are quack out there with fake nursing degree. I hope all those involved will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I’m a retired nurse and I can ascertain, those without training are endangering the lives of others. I’m beyond appalled.
@@cb.1212 right, but the patients gotta go through nurses first before they meet a doctor. They are taken care of by nurses, not doctors. I have huge respect for doctors but nurses are just dumbed-down version wannabes, fck them all.
That's horrifying!!! It wouldn't take coworkers long to realize that those fake nurses haven't had proper training. I am an RN and wouldn't have been able to do procedures without my training!
Due to the shortage a lot of places do not care. I did travel nursing for over a year and I can’t tell you how many individuals I encountered that were so called nurses that had no idea what they were doing. I mean the basic bare necessities of nursing 101 and CNA knowledge were completely lost on them. Sadly, a lot of them go into LTC/SNF where critical thinking is not a constant skill that they need to use.
Thats horrible and thats upsetting. All my sons functions I missed, all the time away from family, all the pressure from my instructor, all the late nights studying, all the anxiety before my exams, cutting my hours at work because thats required before starting the program, all those early clinical rotations and just all my hard work. I'm shocked how these people truly thought they were going to get away with this and put people in danger. Thats Pure laziness, selfishness and unethical.
as a combat medic who practically had to start from scratch after getting out in California, it is sad that skills go to waste, and scams like this only get vulnerable people who just want to serve people. I would not risk a patient's safety without proper credentials and making sure I'm both mentally and physically fit to do so.
@@boslyporshy6553 When we get out of the Army, there is no direct job that we can do other than go to PA school or higher. A good medic had a lot of training that does not have a civilian equivalent
I worked in HC and i would always say a lot of Nurses were sharing licenses bc they had NO CLUE about their job. I would literally catch them GOOGLING how to do their job. Until one day my client (a nurse) comfirmed that ppl would buy their degree from schools in Florida and Study for the NCLEX, a lot of them taking night positions to attempt to stay under the radar.
@@kjdnyhmghfvb yes, i guess me working with them and noticing how they barely knew ANYTHING ELSE made it more of a red flag. They were actually getting written up by our Director when they would get caught googling.
This is crazy, I’ve been a RN for 22 years and I just can’t imagine , it is not easy being a nurse you have to know what your doing to practice safely ..
Yes but if the institution is intentionally selling degrees one can’t tell because verification involves contacting the degree granting institution and asking them. The RN licensing exam s are there to ensure the people actually know the material. And maybe they also failed or maybe they know enough material to be nurses.
Perks of “degregulating” educational and professional standards. Nursing isn’t a diploma course btw, it requires a university degree. As a travel nurse, I can assure you that FL nurses were amongst the most incompetent I’ve worked with.
the same way people pass tests that do really pay attention in class, they study on their own time, or cram the night before and use their general knowledge.
Some of them were foreign medical graduates from places like D.R. , Haiti, India or Cuba. Unfortunately, sitting for the USMLE is no walk in the park along with being expensive to prepare for. When faced with dead end jobs in the states or the nursing scheme some choose the scheme. I personally know 3 people who did this. They grew weary of the US system to enter the medical field legally and took short cuts. It’s wrong regardless of if they had the degree in their home country or not and I told them directly. Just food for thought.
It most certainly is possible that it was a bridge program. Can't imagine going through a legitimate nursing program and then being banned as a nurse after that. All that work down the drain.
I’m a nurse. Nursing school teaches signs and symptoms. Being a nurse didn’t start until I went to work. Lord please keep watch over the patient’s 😢 Amen 🙏
Doing nursing without a real degree is not worth it. I ended up leaving nursing because of some bad situations where I thought I knew what I was doing.
Absolutely crazy! Recently telling my own kids not to cheat at school. Giving an example of a Doctor... Asked if they wanted a Dr. That cheated on a test to get his degree, and operate on me?! Hands down yelled NO, NO.. I reminded them you want someone who actually took the time to learn it and know it
Very nice. These people are all over doing illegal things. I am so happy you caught them. People like me studied so hard to get License. Punish them doing wrong things.
Wow! This is very frightening to think your nurse might be the one attending to you in your time of need. Hopefully all the schools that partake in this scheme will be closed down for good!
I know people who have their legitimate nursing degree but still can't pass the NCLEX. The fact that these nurses who bought the fake degrees passed seems to indicate they must know what they're doing.
There is practically no way to cheat on the NCLEX (state boards exam). The NCLEX exam is the same in every state!! It is given on a computer and you are watched via cameras and monitors circulating the testing area, everywhere!! I took it 21 years ago and that is how it was back then and I’m sure it is still the same! It is very monitored and protected! If they even THINK you’re cheating, you’re automatically thrown out, disqualified and ineligible to even sit for the NCLEX again.
The worst mistake I ever did was go to college. It’s just a piece of paper that says you sat in classes and you passed. Doesn’t mean you’re qualified for the job. Just means you can memorize material and put it on paper. Shows no skill in the subjects
That depends on the degree lol. In my opinion, an Associate of APPLIED Sciences degree in ______ is one of the best to achieve! The focus is on the technical skill(s), yet this degree is NOT intended to be a stepping stone for a bachelors. Which is great if you're like me, and intend to go straight into the workforce employed in the field in which you've just obtained the knowledge of. Less debt as well (BONUS!). In demand and LUCRATIVE too. That's where the GOOD $$$$ is....quiet as it's kept. One yr of pre-reqs plus one yr of your program composes your degree. I'm going for my A.A.S in Surgical Technology!
Well I’m sure you prefer doctors, nurses, and teachers who “sat in classes and passed” over one’s who didn’t. The only “mistake” of going to school is paying 80k+ for an education you’ll be paying on the rest of your life.
This is absolutely ridiculous and whoever was behind these “printer shops” need to be held accountable for every death and stolen scheduled drug report that comes out of this. Also a nationwide registry for nurse certification’s that have to be checked before exams. This is inexcusable and absolutely unacceptable.
I'm from Florida and some people know if you want to license in any industry real estate, medical you go to Miami and you can get it with a few dollars.
All 7600 buyers should be jailed becausethey knew EXACTLY what they did was wrong on so many levels. They all put peoples lives in danger and that is just despicable.
I am a nurse and it disheartening to see people get so disparate to get rich fast at the expense of people’s lives. Sad world, some people don’t wants to work hard but they want the benefits of hard work.
Someone at the state level allowed it. Here in Illinois, we had to wait at least 6 weeks for our college to provide all the necessary paper work, letters, finger printing, background checks, urine drug screening … just to be considered for state boards. It’s scary and pretty soon they’ll start bringing nurses from abroad again like in the 90’s, buckle up !
People who say “oh they passed nclex they must know what they’re doing” uhmm no! In California back in 2011 or so we had a few fake nurses from the Philippines working here. Many paid someone to take the nclex for them Pearson vue only does a palm scan they used their opposite hand. And they worked as RNs for a while until someone rang the alarm and the board investigated and found the transcripts to be fake. Many of these fake nurses were making mistakes and many worked in long term care so they wouldn’t be detected. Really scary stuff they’re coming for grandma and grandpa!!!
Passing the NCLEX isn’t difficult if you are a good test taker. You really don’t need a whole degree just to take an exam, it’s the lacking of any clinical experience that comes with the ADN that I’m more concerned about
I always wonder why when I need a nurse they are so unprofessional and if this thing about some nurses that that I feel they don't know what they be talkin about yes I live in Florida there's a lot of nurses I wonder about. Wow
The state/feds needs to find each and every individual that purchased these fake diplomas. Anyone that slipped through the cracks and was able to pass the state boards; their license needs to be immediately revoked. As an RN this type of crap is sickening. Patients and their family members are putting their lives in these people’s hands…this is really ridiculous!
I feel like this is insulting and inconsiderate to us nursing students who are ACTUALLY trying to get the degree in the proper way to really help people .
No wonder why my wife tells me that her co-workers (nurses) have an attitude problem, some don't care about their patients, they don't care about their job, and as a nurse, you have to care...they probably bought their certificate too.
The fact that many of these individuals were even able to sit for and pass state exams kind of makes me wonder if the degree programs themselves are worthless to begin with. Even if they were just a good test taker, I would think it'd be pretty easy to see how unqualified these people are just by the kind of mistakes they make or tasks they avoid within the first month of being hired. I don't condone what they did. However, if they're able to pass the state certifications and hold down their positions, then perhaps the whole nursing degree is a waste in itself.
@@scotland369 @ThisorThat You both make fair points. It just struck me as odd that they passed and the reporter never mentions anything in that regard.
