This is an awesome machine you've designed and built. I am looking at doing a run of boards for some products I'm building and don't want to pay to have the PCB builder build the boards too. My ROI on buying one of these and the feeders is going to be pretty high and likely not financially worth it. But long term it would pay off as this will work for all future projects I come up with too... I wonder if I could add a hot plate as the base of the machine, where after it is done PnP, it then turns on the hot bed to temp for xx seconds and then cuts off... Then have a tester on the head too to then run a QC test to hit test pins on the board and feed back data, even have a UART pads to push initial firmware to it (after initial, all my firmware is then updated via the webpage running on the board). Since you made the entire thing open source (THANK YOU FOR THAT!), I could add those on. Since my products, I don't have a need to push out boards very fast, I could take the slow down and do this step by step for each board and pop them off complete! I'm going to buy one and then start playing around with it to add these items/see if its possible. Biggest hurdle would be programming for each of my products, but I could then have a stack of boards and parts all in reels and just load and build with I have an order. A lot better for me to keep just parts on hand and not have hundreds of assembled boards laying around that could get damaged. Since I only sell a few a week, this would be perfect.

The feeders are great. But how can I compile the photon firmware with PlatformIO. I didn't found a link to the RS485 library you use. There are only CAD files for 8mm feeders on the github repository but not for 12mm. Where can I get the CAD files for 12mm feeders. The project is open surce but the source is not complete.

OMG! Former industrial SMT operator says this is the CAHOOLEST news. I'm much more giddy than have any right to be. In big production, Feeders have their own staff. To populate, configure, maintain, repair, etc. Dude... DUDE! FEEDERS!!!

Don't waste your time designing toy feeders, make your machine compatible with standard feeders. Better value and lower risk for the customer.
