I love your respect on the live feeding part as you dont like it but have to do it most do it as they like seeing them kill. You have a lovley collection by the way :)
@xoligatorx There is heat tape under their tubs. They have plenty of heat and they are eating just fine now. Some ball pythons just don't want to eat every week.
@davidhamiltonreptile also try only feeding her the darker rats, I heard a lot of the picky eaters don't like the white ones. also try feeding her at night. ;o) Just realized how old this post was, hope she starting eating for you!
thank you for an awesome video. sorry for the people who don't understand the way snakes are. I have a red tail boa and he only eats live. People have to get that through their heads before they start freaking out. If you don't like watching snakes eat, get out of here.
I fed my picky ball python live mice because I couldn’t get ahold of live rats Because of where I live. I bought more and more mice but they weren’t enough for a 600 gram ball. I didn’t eat for a little while even though I was offering him frozen/thawed rats. I eventually assist fed him because he hadn’t eaten anything in months(I don’t recommend assist feeding until it’s absolutely necessary for them to eat or they will die) . As soon as I put the rat head in his mouth, he cooled around the rat he ate it no problem. Next week I thought I would have to do the same but this time he snapped at the rat when I put it right next to his face and I didn’t have to assist feed. The week after that I put the rat next to him and shook it a little and this time he ate it no problem almost instantly. That’s how I switched my ball python that had grown to more than a year of age eating just mice on to rats. He eats great now too.
God, you people... Is it cruel for snakes to eat mice and rats in the wild? They can't exactly go to the pet store and buy some frozen/thawed food, that's for sure. Grow up. There is no guilt or innocence in nature. Nature isn't cruel, it isn't kind, it isn't fair or unfair. Carnivores need to eat, and snakes have a natural drive to consume animals that they kill for themselves. It's a survival mechanism.
All of you "experts" saying this is natural are so oblivious. In the wild, mice and rats have a fair chance of escaping from their predators. Here, you're confining them in a tub with no escape route and watching them die for your own sick pleasure. Feed thawed like sane humans will you? ~I've owned over 40 snakes
+jrs165 are you a vegan?? no? then shutup, and yeah you caught us every breeder who feeds live does it so they can get off. If you really owned that many snakes, which you don't you would know some will not take f/t and only take live. I'm so sure every chicken and cow you eat has a escape route..Oh wait............
I have 3 snakes that I feed a combo of live and f/t and I feel this is one of the cruelest videos I have ever watched. Don't hold the baby rats by the tail like that, there's no point, just put them in there they can't bite the snake. Baby rat's tails are much more sensitive than adults and I'm sure the pain is excruciating. Larger rats I only feed stunned p/k or f/t as they are well aware of their surroundings and can do some damage to a snake. Maybe you shouldn't be keeping snakes until you can learn to respect the living thing you are feeding it. We rely on these creatures to keep our snakes alive, they make the ultimate sacrifice against their will for something they would probably find vile, so we need to treat them with respect.
I know the food chain cause I have to feed my snakes rats all the time lmao but I prefer to feed them the less sad way I don't mind AT ALL feeding f/t cause of course I know a animal still has to eat it's not there fault it's the circle of life but I think people shouldn't be feeding live when its not really necessary
Cause the video clearly just says feeding ball python collection it doesn't say he's feeding live and all I could see was his hand and him using tongs so I figured it was f/t. Thank u very much
I think that feeding you snakes live rats/mice is very cruel. I feed mine frozen mice and it enjoys it a lot! Which is also better for the snake, a live mice/rat can injure your snake. I just think it's sad that people like you have snakes like that.
+Scarlot Red LOL coming from someone who probably owns 1-2 ball pythons as pets. You obviously supervise a live feeding. 10/40 of my snakes roughly only eat live am I supposed to let them starve themselves. Go educate yourself please.
