I love the close up details and explanations you give us of the mixer and its inside. And the details of how much feed you mix daily and the cows individual consumption. Then your fantastic aerial footage. This might be one of the most interesting videos you've done yet Andy.
Awesome video as always, Andy. You've done a full days work before a lot of people wake up. Won't hear me complain about what a gallon of milk cost. Just wish that cost would mostly go in to your pocket. It's well deserved!
I am amazed at how much labor and equipment it takes for you to raise your heard. Crop farmers like Mn millennial farmer or the Welkers probably don’t have to put in half as much work as your family does and they don’t need nearly as much machinery. You have my respect for doing what you do to feed the world in this depressed economic times for agriculture.
Nice clean set up. And it shows in the cattle. Thank you. I appreciate people who take pride in their farm and cattle. Good video really enjoyed that thank you.
Coming from a farming / dairy family I understand the amount of work that goes into keeping the cows happy. Last of the dairy farm in either side was 52 cows on 300 acres. Also did beef, small swine operation and grain on some rented land. Putting up hay in summer I will never forget up in the barn kicked my ass. Enjoy watching your channel and a small glimpse to running a dairy of that scale.
Just watched the video of your son disking. Everyone complimented him rightfully so but you the parent deserve a huge compliment. Your doing a fine job!
Crap man at 3 in 5he morning the last thing I would want to do is stick a camera in my face!!! I love the feeding videos!! This may be one of the top in my book. Awesome!!! Nice set up there Andy a show place!!👍👍👍
Really enjoyed the video andy from the looks of the farm you and your family and workers take great pride in your animals and barns and equipment your whole farm looks amazing you should be very proud a lot of comment and hard work and it shows
Thanks for the videos, You have quite an operation there. I'm from west of Rochester, in Monroe county, close to the lake. Not many dairy farms here anymore. Couple good sized ones further west in Niagara county. Thanks again Andy.
Ed Hourigan yes I remember those days running around with himoisture corn and grain. Then later on dumping the tar into feed carts to feed to the tie stall barn.
Yo Andy!!!! Greetings from South Coast Ireland!! Brilliant vid as always!!! Many thanks for the insight you gave on just what it takes to feed and maintain such a Mega Herd as you do!! Some people just don't appreciate the work and constant effort it takes to put milk in a bottle for the Corn flakes etc in the breakfast!! The idea of feeding starting from 3am to some might be madness but the amount of time in loading...feeding such numbers is not what some would consider ever doing or even imagine!! 24/7 means 24/7 ehh!!! Take care y'all and thanks for sharing....ps heifers looking good!!!
I have a pair of Supreme 1600T’s mounted on Oshkosh F2346 6x6 Truck’s. Great combination, especially for our Michigan winters but they’re not near as nimble as the pull-types.
Very interesting to see how it's done on a large scale such as this. You must be happy not to have to feed on Thursdays and Sundays. These are early starting days brother. I felt a little uneasy when you stepped into the mixer wagon. All the best, Thank you, cheers
Great video! I have changed knives in a Faresin twin auger mixer and it isn't a nice job. The interior walls, floor and mixing augers get really slippery and the the knives wear down very thin and sharp. The new knives were large and sharp and again needed careful handling.
I see you haven't scratched or dented the mixer yet if it was me I would of done it the first day then pissed and moaned about it for two month LOL. It amazing how many loads you do everyday. Thanks for bringing us along!!!
Kinda makes a person zone out watching the feed mix. 👀 I liked all of the different views today. The milk cows sure come to get the feed and the dry cows don't move except 1, cows can be strange critters at times. It was interesting to see the farm flyovers. How many tankers do you send out in day, and can you hold a days worth of milk in the silo? Thank you for taking the time to record and edit todays video.
I fed cows on a 1000 head milking dairy for 6 years so this video hits home. I tried a couple vertical mixers and really didnt like how they mixed seemed to have a better quality of mix and a faster unload time with a reel mixer. You need to slap a mixer on one of those old universal well trucks you like so much and you'll never step foot in a tractor pulled mixer again
I am a new subscriber and have many questions, so I'll just throw a few to you. What part of New York state are you located in? What is the size of your dairy herd? I am very impressed on how well your cows look in appearance. You stated your mixers are 900 and 1200, is that the capacity rating, i.e. bushels or what? How do you measure the amount of supplements (minerals) you are mixing with the hay? To say the least, I am very impressed with your dairy farm operation! I have only viewed a half dozen or so of your videos and found them interesting, entertaining and informative. I have not lived on a farm for over fifty years but still find this way of life to make a living and raise a family no matter what the size of the operation is to be rewarding. Thanks!
Dan Kinnard the model numbers don’t mean anything, there is a scale on each mixer. We are in central New York we milk just over 1600 cows and farm 4K acres.
Slowly catching up with your videos. Keep seeing people ask for a parlour video 😂 have you done one already I can look out for? Hell of a operation you run! Brilliant video! 💪🏴
Hey Andy hows it going today thanks for another great video. I was just watching one of your older videos of when you started truck #2 back in January. And was wondering if you ended up selling it or parted it out. I wouldn't mind having the engine and the box for one of our trucks. Stay safe out there my friend.
Thanks Andy, great video. Greetings from a soggy UK where wheat harvest has been interrupted by some serious rain. Couple of questions. What is the size of your herd and what are your diesel costs per annum. Do you get a reduced price for agricultural diesel (as we do here and it's dyed red) and does this apply to all your trucks as well or are they classed differently as they are road going.? Thanks.
