Did you notice that big heart piece of shell on the front of the plastern (bottom shell)? Its much smaller on the females. Because the males use it to joust and flip the competition over. If they're stuck long enough upside down in the sun they could die. Sometimes a nearby buddy will help flip them back over. 🐢💚
@@forgetfuldullahan5468 big-men maybe? They grow to 200 lbs and live 100 years needing a half acre each. The sanctuary's taking them have been begging 20 years to banish their sale since people don't realize their huge needs and end up dumping them. What would you call them?
My boy absolutely LOVES Ike - he even named his stuffed turtle Ike. We have watched and rewatched all your videos because he won’t let me go a day without watching Ike.
I recently came across your channel and it really brightens my day! You seem to sincerely care about these tortoises :) Have you thought of doing a Q&A video about yourself and how/why you got stated raising turtles? I think it would be great
You are such a kind-hearted Man!!! Hi beautiful Tillman🖤🐾, hail King Ike!!👑🐢 Hello to ALL your beautiful Tortoises(great names!!) Thank you for rescuing the Tortoises & all the nutritious foods you feed them🥬🍌🎃 THANK YOU Kind Sir!!!🥰
@@TheTortoiseWhisperer You deserve the praise. Very few of us could or would make room in our lives for these interesting dinosaurs. Thanks for doing it so well.
I have a question; why don't you buy imperfect or waste vegetables and fruit. It still has all of the nutrients the torts need but at a better commercial or free price? I used to feed goats and chickens imperfect or left over fruits and veg for a much better (and sometimes free) price. They got lots more of the very favorites that I did have to buy retail, like berries and seasonal fruit. I enjoy your videos because I am starting to see individual behavior traits in the torts you always introduce. Did Ike try to bite the back of Gertie's shell when he couldn't get past the rocker horse to the lettuce? He IS the dominant tort!! I think the big torts are bottomless pits for ALL food all the time. After watching Ike and his harem, I understand how in the wild a male has a territory with a group of females and he defends it to the best of his ability. Do you compost the tort droppings? As vegetarians that would be some good soil enhancer for gardens or house plants. Almost as good as worm castings/better than cow.
They act like they're starving and I know you take good care of them you have no idea how much pleasure I get out of watching you take care of your turtles thank you so much for the good videos
They really know the layout and routine. It’s great to see them able to wander over a large exterior yard and sample wild plants. Then home to the Tortoise Garage and more Ike action.
I saw some tortoises when I was in the Galápagos a few years ago. They are so much fun to watch! And the way they eat is too adorable ❤ Glad I came across your channel so I can watch them eat again.
“You’ve got to be kidding me” -Woody Yes. I’m talking about that scene where he’s getting chased by Sid’s dog. But yeah. Your dog seems like he loves his Woody.
I love your channel. They are such incredible creatures! My question is what happens to all the babies once they get bigger? Do you sell them? Do they go to -Zoo’s? Just curious since I Don’t know anyone who has a pet tortoise
I try to keep as many babies as I can but unfortunately I'm just not able to keep every single one with the amount that they do have. So after I make sure they're 100% healthy and ready, I do let some go to new and good homes. But all the babies that are in this video will grow up here 😁🐢
@@TheTortoiseWhisperer when are you going to open your house to tours? maybe on weekends and limited visits/number of people. you can earn money to keep it going and people would love to meet all the guys in person and some head rubs too 🥰
I love how you care for your tortoises soo much and they love you back. You can see how much they love you when they rest their cute faces in your hands. Ike is my favourite. Xx
Great video buddy I love watching you take care of those turtles my ex girlfriend had one and she would tape a balloon to his back in the backyard because the grass was tall so she could keep up with him and he just loved to explore and eat all the greens you're a great man
Hey buddy! I need your help, we have a rescued little turtle, it has been with us for several months now and today is acting weird, it walks really fast and scratches it head a lot, we don't see any type of thing on it, we are a little worries as we don't know that can be, it was fine during the morning. I hope you see this and give some advice
If you can may you please make video about the tortoises growing over the years. Cause I would like to see how they get so big from being only about 3 inches long.
