Awhile ago I started making fruit and veggie smoothies for my crestie since he won’t take the powdered stuff. it has acorn squash, sweet potato, collard greens, bell pepper, carrot, apricots, mango, rasberries, blueberries, strawberries, apple, and grapes plus probably a few things i’m forgetting, plus a good bit of calcium supplement. he absolutely loves it and has actually put on a little weight after being slightly skinny for his whole life, gonna make a version 2.0 soon with powdered bugs, flowers, and pollen since for now he still needs regular live insects to get protein
Geckos: "Yesss, give them to us raw and wriggling!" And they even eat in the comfort of darkness to boot. I'm guessing banana, even though I hate those Minion things...
This video made me give my gargoyle gecko some fig as a fresh fruit treat! He absolutely loved it!! I'm sure there's stuff in the real fruit we just can't replicate for them properly in prepared diets, plus I'm sure it's enriching to try and eat something different!
This is so awesome. I'll have to keep this in mind for when I'm ready for my own New Caledonian gecko. Leachies are definitely on my bucket list to own one day. But cresties are awesome too.
Leachies are so great especially when they get bigger, something about them just resembles a face faced puppy lol. I currently own 3 . I would say out of all reptiles they have the biggest temptation of buying another after your first.
I think mango will be the winning fruit. That would be my favorite of the options. Ooooooh but peach is nearly at the same level as the mango. I like your chef's jacket by the way! Did you go to culinary school?
I was so nervous to get a reptile and your videos have not only helped my fears, but you've answered a bunch of questions that I've had, and now you've inspired me to see if my crestie wants some fresh fruit treats! :D
Hi Dion! What type of camera do you use to film at night? I wonder what my cresties are doing when I'm asleep so I've been thinking for a while for a nightcam to spectate their behaviour at night! Great vid as usual :D
Love your videos I have 2 cresties because of you and snake discovery love them so much they are lychee and guava think I may have to try them on some fresh fruit :)
Ok so I looked it up and fig trees as well as Mango, paw paw, banana, pineapple, oranges, Alvarado and more all grow in New Caledonia. Though I guess figs are under some threat but I didn't get a chance to learn more. Anyway, makes sense they like the figs :) An I bet they are a real treat even for a captive bred gecko. It is certainly good enrichment and helps promote natural behaviors for what they would find in the wild. (Minus the whole cut up pieces and camera part XD) love the video!
Lmmfao Dayyan YOU looking like a.real IMPORTANT FAMOUS ANIMAL CHEF....LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN HIRED BY RIDICULOUSLY RICH AND FAMOUS PEOPLE TO MAKE THEIR VERY RICH SPOILED ANIMALS FRESH FOOD FOR THEM DAILY LOL.....LOVED THIS
I've been enjoying your content! Such gourmet offerings...I'm guessing banana will be most popular. Edited after the video: Figs and bananas are the sweetest so this makes sense. :)
I'm guessing fig. 😁✌🏼 Edit: just wanted to say I appreciate what you do. It's definitely a huge job looking after all your animals and the love and care you show is very sweet. Thank you. Peace ✌🏼
My curiosity is, what do they encounter in the wild and do they naturally go after the fruit even after having been on their supplement diet previously.... and how does the various fruit affect them ? Are there precautions necessary, could to much fruit be detrimental to their which made for a cool interesting video 👍👍
Sorry that should have said..detrimental to their digestion. You certainly took the time for preparation and proportions which made for a cool interesting video
My crested gecko loves banana, apricot and peach. Fig is hit and miss, and until now I hadn’t any success with mango. I never fed him whole pieces of fruit, I must try.
I think they will like the bananas best . I think most go for which ever is closest to their face.🤷♀️ it’s 3:30 pm where I live but I’ll say goodnight to you.
I didn`t choose right away, but I assumed that geckos would enjoy bananas and figs. And I was right.XD Fun fact: I`m from Russia, and here Crested Geckos are called "Бананоеды" which literally translates as "Those who eat bananas".XD Thank you for all of your videos, I`m a big fan!! P.S: Sorry for the grammar, not my mother language as you can guess.
My guess will be those little banana chunks because of the size and lack of a rind or skin. I am prepared to be wrong! Lol Edit: I was both right and wrong! Woot! Watching Leela eat so happily was very nice. Thanks, Dayyan!

Fig i believe. but banana smells more i believe..too.. so maybe that. i remember trying to give my lizards real fruit (sounds so weird to call it real ) but i often had a lot of different fruit and so on at home since i have a lot of different pets of the fur kind and the scale and more.
Hey I have a question. (Sorry for my bad English haha) I have 2 male crested gecko's (I'm actually sure, but it looks like they are both males) and they are about 1 year old. They have been with each other for a longer periode of time. It started 1 month ago. One was shedding and the other jumped on him and suddenly had a piece of shedding in his mouth. They where making a soft noise and their tails were shaking (thankgod they don't dropt it😅) Now the same one jumped on the other again and grabbed him by the neck. The other didn't make a sound but opened his mouth a few times and after 1 minute the other let go. It look a bit like a mating but he didn't really make mating movements say.(and it are 2 males soo ??) Do you know what it can be? And should I separate them or just leave them as is?
