That's the thing tho. He mentioned this in the BO1 lists video two days ago, but mono red is hard to crush even if you specifically try to do it because of the inherent advantages mono red has. Sux

I posted a mono red kryptonite deck on cgb discord. Hasn’t loss yet to mono red. Good against ramps too.

@@covertgoblue This should work. You aren't casting it; you are just activating an ability. It is similar to the Gutterbones return to hand ability, but it returns to battlefield

@@DeathByDegrees8 Check 18:00 to see FTK light up during the combat phase. Check 42:27 to see it light up before CGB passed priority over to his opponent for the rest of the game. It does seem to work.

@@covertgoblue they are correct. You hit Resolve All to let the viewers see what would happen, then the troll wasn't lighting up because you were passing priority to the rest of the stack resolving.

I don't see how troll king wins the game for him there, he still had 3 cards in his deck. He needed the mill in order to win but brazen borrower bounced jace while it was on the stack. What am I missing?

@@DeathByDegrees8 With the way he sequenced it, you're right, there's no way. But if he would have known you could activate troll king at ininstant speed *before* he started playing spells, then the correct line is as follows: Step 1: resolve emry Step 2: stack the triggers such that you draw a card first and then mill Step: with an empty deck, activate Jace to draw a card Step 3: the opponent has to respond now or CGB wins when the ability resolves, so they cast BB Step 4: in response to all of the Petty thefts on the stack, activate troll king to draw a card Bonus Step 5: if they have another response, activate your second troll king in response to that

@@DeathByDegrees8 He should have played creatures (Goose, Troll King) in order to draw cards before putting Jace down. Then he could have done it. Garenbrig for Troll + 3 foods, Goose for a food. This draws two, leaving one card in the deck, gives nine food on the board, and leaves five mana open. Play Jace, then play Emry. Opponent plays Petty Theft in response to Emry trigger. The two Troll Kings in the yard can then be brought back, drawing two cards (as long as opponent doesn't have a second Borrower).

Actually, I realised that a better way that plays around double-Borrower would be: play Goose (draw card, make Food), then play Emry, ordering the triggers so that you draw a card and then mill. Deck is empty, six foods on board. Play Jace, activate the +1 to draw. Opponent responds with Petty Theft. Put the Troll King down. Either you draw a card and win, or opponent responds with another Petty Theft. Then they are tapped out, and you can put down the second Troll King to draw a card and win.

Yes, but them you don't win via Jace. The opponent will only respond when you go to draw a card with an empty library, so you have to go for it. They either have the answer or they don't

Yes. You're missing the fact that if you do it the way you suggest, then the opponent would not have responded then, because you're not winning there. They would have responded to the Jace activation. Ignoring the Troll King punt in the end, there is no real response to that situation if you can't draw at instant speed. They either have the answer when you try to win or they don't. You just have to go for it and hope they don't

The way they've set up the system incentivises doing it unfortunately. Its the fastest and most consistent way to get your dailies done.

I dream about a game mode where the "match making" take into account the ratio of mythic, rare, uncommon and common cards in the deck to find an opponent with similar ratio. The duration of search for "ad hoc" match up should be a bit long but I clearly prefer that.

@@lenyteyssier2065 unfortunately this isn't a perfect solution. A lot of the janky build-around cards are rare and mythic, so the people playing with silly fun decks could still be paired against powerful decks. Additionally, a lot of the best cards in standard aren't even mythics, and a lot of the powerful enablers aren't even rares. Narset, absorb, veto, Familiar, Oven, mayhem devil, trail of crumbs, Clover, Edgewall Innkeeper, growth spiral, Anax, and light up the stage are all uncommons. Additionally, I think rares are actually more powerful than mythics at the moment with teferi, nissa, dream trawler, elspeth conquers death, torbran, bonecrusher, etc. at rare. And given that lands take up a big percentage of a multicolored deck's rare slots, the proportions between a competitive deck and a jank deck aren't all that different. Instead, I'd prefer to see a backend that takes into account how many decks a card is played in across the entire format you're playing in, then gives that card a point value positively correlated with how often it is played. Then give each deck a point total base on the cards it plays and match people with similar point totals. This would divorce it entirely from rarity, which is not a strong correlation with power level, especially at the moment.

I will agree and not agree in the same time :). Your solution is very smart and a queue like this could be welcome too! In the other hand, my suggest help more free players and you can ajust your deck (swaping mythic and rare draw card w uncommon and common for exemple) to find a fair match up.
