While Cusco is a beautiful city filled with warm and welcoming people, once you venture out of the city center, a heartbreaking problem becomes apparent.
With increasing numbers, more than 2 thousand stray dogs walk and survive across the city, with no shelter or help from any of the municipalities in Cusco.
Not all of them appear to be starving, perhaps some dogs get food more easily than others, but one cannot deny that they all suffer from the indifference of the passersby.
There is little we can do as tourists, but perhaps more of these little acts can one day add to be a significant help for these abandoned and forgotten friends.
