@@dean8315 Google is your friend, he probably isn't.... The size of the cage depend of the size of the spider. Usually it's 2-3 times longer then the spider's legspan and 2 times wider.

Thank you Marko Petkovic for your amazing videos and your beautiful animals. Your videos have helped me get over my fear of tarantulas and other arachnids, so much so I went as far as purchasing a habitat and all necessary supplies to care for my very first tarantula! She is a gorgeous Dolichothele diamantinensis and I fell in love with her the second I unpacked her . After 2 months of enjoying my new sling that I have ordered another . I am now expecting my first Metallica tomorrow and I am so excited. It is all thanks to you , you have shown me this beautiful world of tarantulas that once terribly feared. Thanks so much and cant wait to see more videos of the Dark Den !

1cm only needs a 16oz deli cup or similar container. Tarantulas like tight spaces, not lots of room like most animals.

I say, if you want to make a pretty enclosure for your very first tarantula, go for it! As long as you watch it to make sure it eats the prey every time, it shouldn't be a problem. Even with big areas they typically just pick one spot to dig, then stay there pretty much forever, so it's not a big deal. It will be a little harder to keep the required humidity, but once you get the hand of it, that shouldn't be a big issue either.

Not even 16 oz. I’d go with a 5.5 ounce deli cup. I strongly advise you to not make a big enclosure right now. It will make caring for the little guy hell. Wait just a year or two for it to get a bit bigger.

I don't have 1 of those yet, but they are a dwarf species (usually mature 3-4") just to keep in mind for the enclosure! They don't get huge like some of the others!

Aight thanks for the input guys, much appreaciated! I just finished the rehousing, two times I went to 'considering panic mode' but it turned out alright haha. She (lets just call her that) ended up in 14x8cm surface area with 4cm deep substrate for now. Made a little clip of it haha can't wait to take a look later.^^ Was too busy handling stuf to enjoy it^^

You can dip the tips your tongs into rubberized paint or maybe a thin coat of silicone even, and never have grappling issues from slippery insects.

The "happy dance" is the tarantulas way of laying down more web to cover scent of the kill site and also prevent other smaller insect like ants to move onto the freshly killed prey.

I used to have a Grammostola rosea (Chilean Rose). She lived about 20 years. In adulthood, I gave her a rather large dubia roach. It ran down into her burrow and I thought she had gotten it. The next day, I looked in her enclosure, and here was this roach with a silken thread wrapped once around the body. She kept it as a pet for about 2 weeks before eating it. So weird.

I have a juvenile Brachypelma albopilosum. It has been just over a week since his/her last molt and he/she has not been active at all or eaten anything. Is this normal or should I be concerned.
