Have you ever fished the nidd at Tockwith? It's my local river and i've been float fishing there twice but caught nothing, also I want to try lure fishing but I don't know if it will work

I haven't as yet but it does get fished a lot so that could have an impact, I've just done a light lure video for upload next week, it would be worth a try with a lure especially now the weather is getting cooler.

@@Scottsoutdoorchannel do you have any idea what lures to use? Like how big for perch? But there is also pike and I think the perch can get big. Maybe 8cm they seem common on amazon?

It's a very tricky one to answer, there are no hard and fast rules, I have an upload on Saturday that might help answer some questions but try a range of sizes and colours, I've caught small Perch on big lures and big Pike on small lures I'd start with something that looks like a 3 to 6oz fish, probably a soft lure and just try different retrieval speeds and lure colour through the day. Sometimes fish will want something that looks like a normal fish other times they like something really brightly coloured, it all depends on the day etc. Your local tackle shop will be able to help you too.

Hello I’m new to pole fishing and wondering if somebody can help me. I have a pole with a elastic rating of 24, i fish for carp and I’m not sure what mainline I would need to attach to my elastic. I don’t want too heavy so it won’t snap my elastic, but not too light so I loose this fish. I usually catch carp in the lake I fish in the region of 10-15lb and what hook length would be recommended. Thankyou.

Hi Liam, elastic I use a solid 8-10 or a hollow white from Dan's pole elastic (link in description of the video) mainline .16 and hook length .12 or .14 depending on hook size, I will drop these down in winter though, as a rule of thumb your hook length dictates your elastic size. You want it strong enough to land fish but not overpower your hook length or bump fish off, and not too light that it takes 20 minutes to land fish...
