I would have liked to see a more detailed noise leakage test for this type of earbuds - for example sitting next to each other with the distance you'd see on a bus. Also a comparison with the Sony LinkBuds would have been useful since they featured on this show before and have a similar concept at a similar pricepoint.

I’d have liked them to go into it but I can say from using them that it’s a very tinny sound can be heard in a very quiet place with a volume all the way up It’s extremely dependent on the noise environment since your brain is still taking in sounds through your ear holes
@V3ritas1989
@V3ritas1989 14 дней назад
it is fine. I often take them off when someone sits down next to me in public transport to see if it is too loud. If it is not full power you cannot hear anything. The other way around is usually fine. You can hear other stuff around going on around you. Though that also means that when the subway kreeks again or breaks you cannot hear the sound anymore

I’ve had Galaxy Buds Live for years and I wear glasses, they’re non sealed in ear buds. Battery is around 5 hours, case fits in a jeans watch pocket, and I’ve literally had conversations while vacuuming and people don’t know and can hear me fine, better than my iPhone’s built in mic. I keep the touch controls turned off because if you’re working out or moving a lot they will move some, but I sleep with them in so they stay in okay. ANC is pretty good for non sealed buds. App is the same for iOS and Android. Putting them in is weird at first but you’ll get used to it. I can heartily recommend the Live Buds.

After about 5 years of absolutely abusing my old basic bone conduction Shokz they finally lost the ability to hold charge and I bought a pair of these on sale. They aren’t perfect but they’re great for listening to audiobooks and whatnot. He’s not lying, they are really light and I often forget they’re on. That being said, as others have mentioned you are SOL if you lose the case.

Glad to see Shokz has made a cheaper version to their normal OpenFit. I have weird sensory things where if I can't hear my surrounds my brain kinda freaks out. Currently using Galaxy Buds Live but the battery on those has degraded a lot. Tried the Oladance OWS2 and Pro and those were ok, but the amp noise was nuts. Looking forward to trying these.
@ThatGenericCanadian
@ThatGenericCanadian 13 дней назад
I tried the Oladance as well and couldn't deal with the amp buzz. My favourite open earbuds in terms of sound quality are the Sony Linkbuds, but they kept breaking on me, I had to RMA them 3 times in the year I had them (I tread my gear pretty nicely, I still have Sennheiser over head headphones from 2010ish that I haven't broke) and now that warranty was up I couldn't justify spending another $250CAD on something that I expect to break again. I've landed on the Shokz OpenFit, they're super comfy, sound better than the Oladance and have great battery life. Definitely recommend Shokz!

Got them in today and after having used them for about half a day now I'm pleasantly surprised with how good these sound! @@thomas_trandalSound on OpenRun Pro is surprisingly good for having no seal in your ears. Not fantastic, little bit hollow-sounding, but all instruments in most songs can be distinguished clearly, including low frequencies. Keep your expectations measured, though; you can get WAY better sounding headphones for half the price. You aren't getting these because they sound excellent; you're getting them because they sound pretty good while still allowing you to hear your environment.

I love this idea for headphones. No matter the size or type of earbud I have never found one that fits my ear and didn't either hurt or slide out shortly after using it. My wife got me some weird "Lenovo x15 Pro" headphones that sit just like this and I freaking love them. Obviously the audio quality isn't amazing, but as someone who could never wear buds, I'll take ANYTHING at this point. We can go on walks and still talk while I have music playing, or I can go for a run and not have to worry about not hearing a car behind me. Don't know that I'd spend $120 for a pair, given the ones we found were like $20, but I hope to see more types and innovation in this space.

I'm quite impressed after an admittedly short amount of time used but very comfortable so much so that I reached for them a couple times forgetting that I already had them on and the audio quality was also better than I expected. Obviously it does lose some of it because it's not sealed but I thought it would have been a more significant reduction in quality. The controls are a mixed bag, it's probably for the best that they are only hold or double tap to avoid accidental commands but buttons would be even better. Also any possible connectivity and battery issues won't be known until I've used them longterm. Initially though, I'm happy with the purchase.

Knowing the other Shokz products these are likely gonna be pretty solid. I've got two pair of the connected versions of these that go behind the head. I also love the battery life (not sure on extended time, but I get a full 8-10hr work day on them) and the bluetooth range is great too. I can walk away about 30-40 yards away from my phone with them and not lose connectivity. The problem with all these products is that even if they’re really great quality and have better sound and noise cancelling, the software is going to suck due to Apple etc having a monopoly on their platform in terms of features

Why don't you ever cover type c earbuds? Their "battery" life is as long as your phone is charged, they are much cheaper, and you don't have to remember to recharge them.

I have shokz S810. There biggest design flaw is you cant change the ring tone volume... It is absolutely terrible.

Can anyone compare the sound of these to the Powerbeats Pro?

Did they fix/add easy auto connect to another device? ie. I have two of their products. Each of them has been paired with many of my devices but the most annoying thing about them is you need to disconnect with previous device before connecting with the next one (even if they're all already paired). You can't just initiate the connect from the next device. This is super annoying for a $200 product. My old earbuds from Samsung has easy connect and I can just connect with my laptop without having to go disconnect it first from my phone which could be in the next room or elsewhere in the house. If a $100 product can do this, they have no reason not to add this feature (if they haven't). Also, it's hard to hear someone talking to you if you have these open ear bone conduction headphones if you're listening to something. So it's not really "you can hear others". It's a mixed bag.

Is it just me, or is the sound on this video really rough?

I have the original OpenFit. Touch controls are horrible and will work poorly with a winter hat, in rain, etc. The over-the-ear type is also not great for glasses, sunglasses, etc. I swapped to the Bose Ultra Open, which - while more expensive - is just a much better product overall. Better sound, fit, design, comfort, controls.

You need to have a use case for them. They sound worse than headphones, or earbuds. But if you want something that won't fall off from your ears, something that allows you to still be aware of your surroundings (E.g. Riding a bicycle) they are awesome

They have a great design. But open ears don't let you tune out the world.

they don't use bone conduction, they don't sit anywhere close to your temple.

I have an old Bluetooth box and I lost the only working Bluetooth headphones I had from like, 2 years ago. FYI, if this is a clue, I can’t hear anything. All I literally do is just comment on RU-vid.
