I remember when I was 11 and the moment I first saw this video and discovered Fefe was a black chick like me singing rock music and how amazing and unreal it felt to see her! I will forever love Fefe and breaking down racial barriers in music.
wtf does her race have anything to do with the music itself? "racial barriers in music" the fuck even is that? nothing is preventing any race from making music.
The first black girl who looked similar to me who did pop/punk music that I saw as a kid in the early 2000s. An inspiration, an icon. I wish she was more popular in America. Bless her wherever she is!!! 😭😭😭😭
It's so crazy how fast songs download now lol I remember downloading an album and going outside to play for 8 hours come home and the album still downloading
She was too ahead of her time!!! Yesssss black girl!!! Work that Microphone! You gave my nerdy black ass in high school a reason to be myself listening to yourself Paramore All American Rejects, Relient K, Blink 182 and a plethora of other alternative artist and not giving a Rats ASS. ❤️❤️ I appreciate this so much!
@Richard ASMR true, though when one is given a choice to invade those countries in the name of “territorial sovereignty” rather than staying put in the states.. it makes u wonder the many wonderful and endless alternatives in ways this all could’ve been avoided. Broken families & traumatised children to sleepless/paranoid troops. But lets be honest here, we all know their deployment was for that oil grab lol. So many of you all thank these troops as if they went through the trenches of hell and back when really you americans glorify that whole facade neglecting the fact that what the OPPOSING forces had to go through, with little to nothing to defend themselves, is by far one of the most tonedeaf, cringe & empty form of appreciation you all give about to these people in uniform. Also, it’s dumb when knowing half the population in the US actually believe the middle east as being this heated, barbaric piece of land that till this day is not worthy of much respect. It’s a clear indication to the ignorance and dumbness of the Americans who get their news source from CBS and/or possibly snapchat. With that, all i’m trying to really say is, while fefe was rocking out thru those headphones directly touching your heart. Families in those broken countries needed aid, shelter, their wealth and health back & you allllll made that extra hard for them to attain.
I remember the MTV special they did on Fefe to promote this song. Although they interviewed and focused on her mom more, who was white, Fefe spoke about being “black”, making “rock music” and how it was hard to find supporters or fans because the group she wanted to make music for wasn’t into rock music. I’ve been a fan since! I’ve never heard anything more honest from someone who was so young!
I remember reading about that a few years ago when I was wondering what happened to her and that was so sad to hear because it was really cool to see a black woman singing rock music. I mean before her we had Skunk from Skunk Anasie but they were more known in their home area of the United Kingdom.
@bmwjourdandunngoddess6024 truth but I don't think she really supported blacks herself . I was a fan of hers and was disappointed to hear her say she doesn't identify well with blacks and her bases was she doesn't like Tyler Perry films . Wow, in her mind, Tyler Perry equaled black people . And I think she's mixed and probably had little interactions with blacks outside of TV
omg I was only 13 when this song came out, now I'm 26.... damn time flies by too fast... wish there was still music like this.... please come back Fefe Dobson
You told everyone to runaway w/ you too? And then after you got a good amount of ppl to say yes, you just left by yourself...? Troubled runaways unite 👊
2024, such an under appreciated artist. I bought this CD for my now late cousin when she was upset over a boy she liked. We would dance to the music video in the living room as a family, I’ll never forget those moments, the laughing, and joy. The healing that this was in all of our lives. If you’re a musician, just know that even if you don’t think you “made” it, your words can touch people, and help them. In ways you can never imagine.
So underrated she is !!! Her energy and sounds are amazing . Broke the mold with this talented woman !!! Loved her music since day one , and I'm still here !!!
I've always adored Fefe's style. I remember lovimg this song back in middle school. She needs more attention. I was a huge fan of Avril back at this time too, so I think that's what added to me liking Fefe because of the similarities.
THERE ARE NOOOO SIMILARITIES BETWEEN FEFE AND AVRIL............AND WHY IN HELLLLL NO WOULD AVRIL LEAD TO FEFE?!?! AVRIL DID SHIT POP AND JUST A HANDFUL OF PUNK-TO SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!
I first heard this when I was around 8 and thought it was so cool seeing a young black girl rocking out like a badass! She made me feel like it was totally ok to be into different types of music bc I always felt like an alternative black girl. I love her so much for that. 💜
2024 and I'm STILL here. This is an underrated, NOSTALGIC, TIMELESS, CLASSIC!! 💯🤞🏾💯😝 She was DEFINITELY an EXTREMELY, talented, underrated artist, that was ahead of her time. BIG BIG shout out to Tina Turner, another BLACK, female, rock and roll, artist that was a MFing BEAST in her era.
I had a major crush on Fefe Dobson during this time as a teenager, because it was a rarity to see a black girl a rocker, I thought that was hot, in fact you had a lot of mainstream black artist in every genre back then which is heavily lacking in this era.
Fefe is so underrated. I remember the first time I saw her . To finally see a POC that made music I could connect with and enjoyed listening was a big deal for me. Thank you Fefe
I'm here from THE short. Y'all know what I'm talking about. And I forgot how amazing Fefe is until he mentioned her and unlocked the memory of listening to her. I'm proud to say I'm currently making breakfast and screaming this at the top of my lungs and dancing.
I love how during the entire video it's slowly sapping out the colors and becoming grayscale, but you're so engaged with the performace you don't even notice until the very end when it fades to white.
I hadn't thought about Dobson since I was about to leave college. I'm thankful for this video being in my recommendations because I needed a reminder of how awesome her music is.
*FEFEEE YOU SAVED ME! 2024 STILL ROCKIN MY FEFEEEEE!! ALWAYS MADE ME AS A BLACK CHICK THAT LISTEN TO ROCK, PLAYED 🎸 ETC WAS AWESOME NO MATTER WHO MADE FUN OF ME IN MY COMMUNITY(BEFORE THE "TREND"! OG FAN FOR LIIIIIIFE* 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Randomly, thought of her tonight. It's been years since I've heard her.. I use to love her music in high school (2009-2010). Crazzzzzyyyy as time flies. I wish she would come back!
+Ginnefine J omg yes! the degrassi with Drake, girls vs boys, O'Grady, the best years! that was the best! wayyyy better than the crap on Nick and Disney now!
I remember I got the Fefe Dobson CD Christmas 2003. I was 10 years old and honestly had never heard of her, but I was instantly hooked! I played that CD everyday. I'm 29 years old now and still listening to her. Take Me Away is still my favorite song of hers for nearly the last 20 years! As a black girl who loved rock, alternative, pop punk, pop rock, etc. Fefe Dobson was such an inspiration to me. I hope she gets the break she deserves, she is so underrated.
I was young when she came out, I’m 34 and still blasting this especially at work! Her new music is great too but these were just everything and still are! ❤❤❤❤
She went on to make songs for Selina Gomez and Miley Cirus, had a hit with "stutterin" and is dating Yella Wolf who she also did a song with. Oh and Jorden Sparks covered her single "don't let it go to your head"
I'm totally in a Fefe kick right now! And i just realized (again) that she really does have the perfect song for just about anything i could ever be feeling to thinking! I miss you, Fefe! :(
I hopped into my dads car the other day and I heard like the last few seconds of this song. I fell in love immediately and asked for the title. When I found it, I couldn’t stop listening up to this point! It’s sooo good! Please continue your passion because it’s beautiful! 💖
I grew up as a mixed punk rock girl. N they don’t make those types I love to see it…. I met fefe when I was a kid in st. Catharine’s Canada with my best friend n she brought me on stage and sang stuttering to me…little did this mixed girl knew we were very sick at the time and I was very over weight. Fast forward over ten years later I’m healthy for the most part n my 5 year old rocks out to fefe now (she thought it was me 🥰)❤️🫶 Love u girl! True inspiration. U made a moment in my life tht is lasting forever ❤
Don't forget Katy Rose, she was pretty good too when it came to pop/rock of the 2000s lol She was mostly known for her song "Overdrive" from 2004's Meangirls but she had some other good songs too from that album the song was from. > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z7_r4BOgOwA.html
I Was wrecking my brain trying to remember the title of this song Last night, I put so many song titles in RU-vid search engine and didn't even pull up Fe Fe Dobson (take me away) I couldn't remember it! I would sing bits and pieces here and there but get stuck at a part where I couldn't remember the chorus.. it killed me! But today, not 20 minutes ago I was able to remember the chorus! I finally sung it in my head! And remembered (TAKE ME AWAY!) I don't know how it happen but it did! Come Back Fe Fe Baby I love this song!!! #ONREPEAT!
This song is so epic, how this has only 3 million views in 12 years is a disgrace especially what’s out there getting more views. Such a great and underrated artist
Well consider that this came out long before RU-vid came out so, a lot of views go missed because of it. People watching now are people who knew it back then, like us.
I can remember being so obsessed with fefe as a 12/13 year old in like 2003. It's now 2020 and I've found you again, and my obsession has resurfaced. I looked to fefe when my grandma passed away 5 days before christmas in 03 & the second I heard the revelation song a couple months ago, it just brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad I found you again❤❤
I can't believe it's been 20 yrs now since this jam came out....yo fefe I'm a big fan and alwayz have been, thx for all uve done...much love amiga🤙🤙🙏♥️
Im a total Metalhead but always had a guilty pleasure for Fefe dobsons music probably because i was caught off guard that was doin funky/pop/rock and not R&b she got my instant respect
When I first heard this woman I went to the music store and said ….who is that black girl singing pop/rock? He said oh Fefe Dobson 😂 That’s how ahead of her time she really was. That she was in a space all her own!!!!! I love her music soooo much to this day.
She was the 1st black girl I ever seen do rock music back in 2003 as a senior in high school. In fact I didn't know of any black people doing rock music up until then. Since then I have discovered a few bands with black male singers. And I can only think of 2 black girl rockers. Fefe Dobson and the black girl in Kittie. That's it sadly
Watch a video on her career. She was one of the only black punk rock artists and she was dropped from some labels because she wanted to stay true to what she wanted to do and not be pop like Rihanna. But they picked other mixed artists (Jordan Sparks/Rihanna) instead of her. I applaud her. In my punk rock era as an African American girl, she was IT.
