“moonchild” was written, according to RM, for all those who feel more comfortable under moonlight than sunlight, for the night-owls and twilight-walkers. For the people who feel free when it’s just them under the dark blanket of clouds, or a clear night sky. It’s also an analogy for depression and darker times, and how sometimes, the day is the darkest and the night is when one feels the most free. He says that it’s okay if the night is where you feel most comfortable. He says that even when in the day, when you might feel pain and suffocation, you have to keep going.
He doesn't go by Rap Monster anymore. So it's RM or Namjoon; some people call him Joon or Joonie. RM's songs speaks to your soul depending on what you're going through. I love Trivia:Love and Closer. But he has so many great songs. I look forward to seeing more from him and the other members. ❤💜💜💜💜
I don't know what RM himself meant using the word moonchild, but to me it represent all the people who feel like they're sitting on the moon and watching the world from afar. People who thrive when they're not being watched and who need the space to own and hold all the sorrows they would have to hide in the daylight... this kind of person would likely also feel quite lonely and isolated, but this song has a way of creating a comforting connection between moonchildren 💜That same connection can be found also in a BTS song called "whalien52", I'm very fond of both these two songs ☺

Nah, if you relate to it and want to share your experience and everything, for me that's fine -- bec I feel the same way and I believe its the same for all army. That's the reason why I stanned them in the first place. They bring so much positivity, their music is my comfort. They are the only band that caught my attention not bec they're big or handsome - none of that -- it is the message they bring in every song/music/message. I found it interesting that you couldn’t quite put the feeling into words what it was about RM that makes you feel and I believe it is because he isn’t just spitting randomness, RM started as a poet then became a rapper - a space that his very unique view of the world could exist within music through words. RM says his stage name has evolved to mean Real Me because he’s got a lot of the rage out of his system. Yoongi/Suga says the same ~ he’s not that angry kid anymore. He’s grown. He has the love of his brothers and ARMY holding him up. He’s in a better place. That’s what Deachwita meant, with him being more grounded and killing his former self, the braggadocios mad king, full of rage and pain. They were literally 15-20 years old when they debuted. Now they are 25-30. Our boys have grown into men. Their music is evolving with them. I agree about feeling like finding BTS has been life changing in a way that’s not even definable. The concept of love in most BTS songs is more a general love than a specific love, such as between two individuals. Some are specifically love for ARMY as a special gift, but think more a global love that takes different forms. They tend to be much more inclusive this way, which is lovely for those listening to the music, as it invites more to be a part of the story. He’s by nature a poet, and imo a damn fine one. 4:11 RM / Namjoon officially changed his name to RM in 2017 and he explained it means "real me". I think that's the perfect name for him. Rap Monster was the name that he was going by when he debuted.
Your summary of the song is how I feel about the entirety of the mono mixtape. The whole thing feels like he’s talking to you. I saw a comment once that when you’re feeling down, mono doesn’t try to make you feel better. Rather RM sits comfortably in the dark with you until you’re ready to do it yourself. i think a lot of people relate to this song (and the whole mono. album really) in different ways which is why the album is so special. some ppl said the album was too depressing but for me, it was the most cathartic experience. i relate to ‘mono.’ more than any body of work an artist has put out. it’s like a friend who sits with you in your darkest times. as weird as that may sound, it’s an album that understands and comforts you. it saved me so i owe namjoon a lot. i think this is the one album i will always hold dearest to me. i believe namjoon once said that once he releases his music, it no longer belongs to him and the interpretation is up to us. when he released this project, there were actually no official lyrics and he said it was because it was “in the eagerness that many people would listen to it with their own language and expression. In the hope that it becomes fuller through individuals filling in the missing blanks”.

However you feel when you listen to the song is how you can take it. There are always going to be people out there that want to just hate and be mean. That's on them not you. Mono ( name of the playlist) is a very personal work for joon. And he purposely didn't say anything about it cuz he said once his work is out to the world it's not his anymore, so people can choose to interpret it the way they feel like it.
I think it's the biggest compliment to any of the BTS members' music to know that you relate to something that they wrote or that you feel comforted or healed by their music or any of the content they work hard to make for us. Like j-hope said, it's "always for us". I also agree with others that we appreciate hearing those personal connections or a-ha moments that you have while watching. The BTS catalog is filled with deep, meaningful, thoughtful songs, so we love that you trust us enough to share the listening and thinking and emotions with us. 5:20 RM is the most fluent in English than all of the members in the group, he learned english just by watching the show "friends." All of their songs usually has mixtures of English and Korean. I think it's really cool how they use and switch between both. They all speak a lot of languages as well. Just a fun fact :)
Btw it’s ok if you think whatever song is a love song or anything else, most of their songs are so deep that they usually mean a lot of things and could mean a lot of different things to different people too. People will probably share what we know about the meaning they shared or hinted that’s their intention tho because besides our personal ways to relate we are also fascinated by their intentions in their art too and a lot of times different song relate to each other, giving more context, meaning, texture and complexity to their whole art journey.

RM is the past standed for Rapp Monster because he loves rapp it was his begining and in the past he was more aggressive and inmature but as he grew up and matured he just use RM as Real Me, he said i'm not a monster i'm a human. RM is like a poet and philosopher that makes rapp. So we get it when you said is a love song. He is the main writer in BTS and a great leader. I don’t know if anybody told you but, BTS was formed around of RM, their CEO was impresed by his lyrics, his talent and intelligence. The songs is from his mixtape 'Mono' if you can, lisent to it on your own is a heart touchig album, the music and lyrics made me cry.
Before BTS and ARMY, I always interpreted the word "love" and "heart" as couple love, but as I got deep in the music, the fandom and myself I realized love is pure and attaching to one situation is really sad, heart is a vessel for soul and it bears a lot more than can be seen differently when listening and deciphering BTS songs, I gained more than entertainment, I found myself thinking about more topics away from the normal crowd view, I can notice, analyse and evaluate things in my life in general, all because of this group and this beautiful fandom that speaks about things that might be spoken by a lot, but it gives a whole new view and a high level of meaning presentation and message sharing 💜💜💜
I'm happy to see you delving deeper into BTS. There are some ARMYs/people that put BTS' songs in a 'box' and demand others to do the same (they are the minority), but BTS write a lot of their songs so people can relate in different ways. You take it how you feel it relates to you and it's ok if you don't like or have preferences to certain song. I believe that to be the purpose of their songs, whether others agree or not, that's how I take it in. 💜 BTW...there are antis who pose as ARMY and put out hate comments to dissuade people from viewing or listening to BTS content. RM's line "I like hate comments more than no comments".
the thing about rm is that he uses a lot of metaphors and wordplay, which sometimes are a bit difficult to comprehend and thus, he wants to leave the interpretation to his audience. I quote: "The highest form of art is turning a personal story to convey the most universal message" - RM. Like he said, it's up to you to experience, I think it's completely okay to think some of his songs as love songs. You have stories of your own, so please don't worry to much about the haters 😊.
Love that you love Moonchild. It is what I listen to when I'm having a tough time or need inspiration. One of the members (Taehyung) made a song called 4' O'clock, and RM first mentions Moonchild there. The way I interpret this song is about someone telling those that are children of the night( struggling in dark and difficult times) to not hide away and instead show themselves, because even though we may have thorns that are so obvious and painful, seeing this may bring someone else comfort and know they aren't suffering alone (that each of us has our own challenges and struggles). I think you would enjoy both his mixtapes and his album. He is very poetic, so his lyrics evoke a lot of imagery and emotions for me. Also, since you like Wale I think you would like the song he did with RM called Change. 💜

Mono (mixtape that has moonchild) was made when rm was having a hard time in his personal life so I think that’s why the songs speak to us so closely and sound very comforting 🤍 If you react to indigo (his album) I would like to recommend watching ‘indigo magazine album’ in BANGTANTV because he talks about each track and it is really interesting. In BANGTANTV there is also a rm live show in Seoul where he sings the songs of indigo (it already has captions so you won’t need to watch in unofficial channels) :)

He's said previously that if he hadn't gone the rap route he would have written his stuff as a poet. He zeroes in on existential questions, the nitty-gritty of life's questions. And about the hate you might get about liking this song or that song more---try not to let it get to you (I know, easier said than done). We all connect to different things within BTS's discography and solo works, and there's nothing wrong with that!
