I remember going through my "scene phase" in 2007, and trying to explain this to the stylist was horrifying. She had NO clue what I was talking about; and even at that time, I thought it was pretty standard to ask something as simple as "free-standing, choppy layers" and "sideswept bangs". It turned out a total mess and I ended up doing it myself. Nobody's cut my hair but me since then.
i know how you feel every stylist iv ever went to were completely horrified to even touch my hair for the fear of messing it up and upsetting me , so i cut my own and my mom gets pissed at me lol
I tried to get that done. The side knew what it was and it turned out a hot mess. I went back and got a new person,(gay dude) and they had to cut it really short like military short in order to fix it. After my hair grew back I went back and asked for the guy who fixed it and it turned out awesomely
@@Alex-to8uy yes you are right, I'm a hairstylist, and the way he cuts the hair can be applied to long hair too, because it's to make layers, not to cut the length of the hair
+Htx.BvbArmy tell your mom that it is a lot of layers! & really you can get your hair cut like this anywhere! Just tell the person cutting there hair, I want a lot of layers everywhere! & show her a picture of the hair cut
just reassure her/him that you will like it and it is what you want. lol we are just trying to cover our own asses because when people hate their hair because it's to short they walk out without paying sometimes

I am on my dad's account dunno why but I want my hair cut like a scene or emo style but.. my sis got her hair cut and she said she wanted it across her eye.. and we'll she came back and she told me they cut her bangs the wrong way when she never wanted them to cut her bangs anyway I don't wanna cut my hair or GET a haircut cuz they may mess up and if they do I'm gonna get pissed cx
Guys don't go to a salon for this haircut because %99 chance they don't know how to do an alternative cut and they won't make it look right 😂 I've been there... Most scene girls cut their own hair. I suck at it but oh well. Also it feels awkward to go ask for an "emo" haircut cause of what it means. I perfer to think scene hair is it's own signature look but yeah whatever you want.
I went to a hair salon 2 months ago and I even searched up and showed her pictures on how I wanted my "scene" hair to look like and when she was done it literally didn't look like the pictures I showed her :/ I can't cut my own hair either I'm afraid I'll mess it up

Thank you so much! i haven't done hair cutting for some years now. and lost my way with cutting. i become a hairdresser in 1999 and things have by far come a long way in the way hair is cut ect. my daughter asked me to do a emo cut for her and wasn't to sure of the technique used so looked on here and come across your self. i followed your instructions to a T and my daughter it so pleased with her new emo cut. Have to say i am pleased with myself for being able to do it to, shhhhhh ;) lol. once again thank you and will have great joy in watching your other videos to learn new ways :) xx
Lol. This is the same as me and my mom. She learned in the 70's but never practiced. When I wanted emo cuts and she didn't know how to do it. I usually ended up walking her through the cuts step by step, hair by hair. She's learned a bit, and so have I. Now I cut my own bangs and am considering learning to do the rest as well. I've had so many hair dressers fail at these styles. Time to DIY.
I have long hair and I want to keep it that way, but still have the texture and the side bangs.ifyou could please do the same haircut but for long hair that would be great.

OMG thank you for doing this video. I have had my hair butchered so many times, and my hair takes a ling time to grow out. I try showing them pictures and explaining it over and over and every time I am disappointed and frustrated while letting it grow out again. I start to fear getting my hair cut. Now I have something to show them how

really?! it takes a long time but not that long... I had a pixie cut like 2 years ago and my hair is almost all one length at my shoulders.... then again I only cut it like 2 times since the pixie cut.
+Kaska the loser wow thats a long time, my mom had a pixie cut like 3 years ago and it grows to a shoulder leght around 10 months and she cut it over and over again once it gets below the shoulder.
you need to get a cut more than once a year if your growing it out, cut it every 2 to 3 months and get a half inch off ONLY. make sure your stylist knows what you mean by a half of an inch lol

the Bangs aren't quite right for scene, it's an edgy haircut , scene inspired I guess, could you do a tutorial with like the extreme side swoop bang with the deep side part and extreme angles on the face and then they have that one really long layer that most girls achieve with extensions but I want to learn how to do that with out the extentions like if they already had the long hair and wanted a cut/style like this
um can u do this with long hair? cause my hair is where my butt is and in this hair tutorial seems only to be in the shoulders :/ and if u can't do this with long hair, can I still do my bangs in this type of way?
I don't understand how it can be so hard to actually find a hair dresser who understand that THIS is the hairstyle that I want. For years I've tried to find someone who cut my hair the way I want it but not a single one has succeeded. Doing it on my own this weekend.

Corissa Grace I think there is more than just one way to do "scene" hair. Maybe it's not your style or what you like and that's totally cool, but I think it's still pretty kick ass.
It's not just MY style. If you look through the videos on the girls who do this style, the scene style, they cut it with choppy layers. It's just how the style is done.

Oh dear god thank you so much. I had my hair cut by someone and it was a complete failure. I have hair to my mid back and all they did was take half of it and cut it to shoulder length... I'm gunna trash this nightmare of a hair cut and fix it, tonight! THANKS!
