Lawton High junior kicker Caitlyn Cox hits 42-yard field goal against rival Eisenhower to put Lawton up 65-14 in the fourth quarter. It's the first field goal made by a female in Lawton history.
I thought the same thing..being a kicker it is very important to follow through!! She could gain an extra 10 yards easy on that kick if she would just extend more
counselorharry1 so far I've noticed that ALL female kickers do this. I've actually been looking though a ton of videos trying to find one that doesn't. I'm not sure why they all do this.... OR why it seems no one has coached them otherwise..
Soccer player kick man. Gotta be ready to haul ass backwards or follow the play soon as you kick it. Hope someone teaches her to follow it thru with the football.
I’m not an American and I don’t know much about football, but that defender on the far left of the kicker did not look like he was doing a good job at blocking am I right?
Judging from my perspective he did his assignment. They seem to protect the gap closest to the snapper. The defenders went around. At that point it is up to the kicker to get the kick off in time.

Also to explain why no one from the right side broke through, the description indicates this game was a blowout, seems like the defenders on the left side were the only ones who cared anymore.
Friend of mine from gym rat days got a full ride athletic scholarship because he kicked a 53 yard field goal. Seems the university coach turned up at high school practice because the high school coach wanted him to look at a quarterback. Comment was "I don't need a quarterback. I need a kicker" so the coach said "Glenn, you're up" and the rest is history.
Frank- she will not be the first female kicker in college football. There have been several... Ashley Baker: Former college football placekicker at Framingham State University[7] Tonya Butler: First woman to score a field goal in an NCAA game[8][9] Hillary Carter: Former college football placekicker at Earlham College[7] Liz Heaston: First woman to play and score in a college football game[10] Katie Hnida: First woman to score in a Division I-A bowl game[11] Ashley Martin: First woman to score in a NCAA game[12] Joyce Mungari: Former college linebacker and special teams player at Monterey Peninsula and Contra Costa Junior Colleges[13] Brittany Ryan: Former college football placekicker at Lebanon Valley College and current scoring leader among women in the NCAA[14] Shelby Osborne: Stands to become the first female to play a non-kicking position at a four-year college after signing in summer 2014 to play cornerback at Campbellsville University, an NAIA school. Just sayin'...
FYI, the record is 68 yards in HS, 26 more than she did (62%), so where are the videos of the 20 or so boys who broke 60 yards? FYI, while not official the longest known by a girl is 48 yards.
@Yuh Yuh The reason they don't know what the record is for a girl is that the sport is gender neutral so they can't keep a record. If there were separate leagues, such as basketball, then yes there could be a record for girls and boys, such as most points scored in a game, there is one for girls and one for boys. But football is one league so a kicker is a kicker, regardless of the gender so the record I believe is 68 yards, I don't think the one in this video holds it but he was just one yard away, he may hold it for his state. Each year there are about 100 girls kicking at the HS level so a kicker getting a 42 yard field goal should not be a news story when that season, nationwide over 100 get FGs over 50 yards. Football, since the early 1990s has been deemed coed so girls or boys can try out as there is only one team.
